Food Network Ch 708 has had a green line on the right side of the screen for quite a while now. Just saying.

I have been told that there is an internal discussion going on, where Astro had inked a new content agreement deal with TVB, and as a result, from 1 Apr 2024 onwards:
- TVB Magic channel will cease.
- SD channels of Astro AOD (CH352 and CH354), as expected, low viewership, no point of maintaining it, hence cease it.
- Internal discussion ongoing: TVBAnywhere+ app may be removed from part of Chinese Favourites and Dynasty pack bundle.
Meaning, if you activated or been using "free" TVBAnywhere+ entitlement that you got from Astro, then you may lose access to it from 1 Apr 2024.
Instead, you can stream TVB shows from Astro Go or On Demand instead.

And also, there is another internal discussion going on related to Dynasty Pack / Chinese Favourites, which I find it very shocking...  shocking.gif
I've promised that person not to reveal it yet because it is not yet finalised, so got to wait and see what happens from 1 Apr 2024 onwards first.

QUOTE(joshhd @ Mar 29 2024, 07:11 AM)
Sorry to say, but according to my "reliable" sources, as previously shared, existing customers that has either Chinese Favourites or Dynasty in their subscription, may lose their free access to TVBAnywhere+ starting 1 Apr 2024. Therefore you got to rely on Astro Go / On Demand / CH310 / CH311 to continue watching TVB shows from Astro moving forward.

I'd share it to u guys once I got a more solid info.
*
Seems like you're right after all.

My Primary Pack subscription can now watch ALL Chinese channels; including Celestial Movies (Ch 309), TVB Jade (Ch 310), Astro AOD (Ch 311), TVB E-News (Ch 317), TVB Xing He (Ch 319), TVBS-Asia (Ch 320), NHK World Premium (Ch 398), and Astro Wah Lai Toi's On Demand catalog.

This change marks the end of Chinese Favourites. I've checked on Astro's website, no more TVBAnywhere+ app access as well. No changes on the packs' prices though.

This also applies to other Astro's businesses: the addition of TVB channels on sooka and the inclusion of TVB Pack channels on NJOI's Family Pack.

Is astro replacing paramount with something else?

No. However, similar content offerings are on AXN (Ch 701), HITS NOW (Ch 702), and Warner TV (Ch 712).

Guys, does the Astro Multiroom for Smart TV work for any Android TV? I have a Toshiba

It depends. My Chromecast with Google TV doesn’t support the app, but my Unifi TV Box v2 Hybrid does.

Astro's quite silencing their latest Chinese content offerings to their Chinese customers though.

But here are four (4) Q&As that I found by keywording "1st April 2024" from Astro's Help & Support Center's search bar.

So the biz model has become from MAS to AirAsia method.
Now.. everyone can watch Assthrow.

Too little too late that Astro wanted to do standalone streaming service like sooka. Should’ve been done years ago to cater younger audiences that still wanna watch Astro but cheaper, without dish & tied with contract.

Tulah selesa sangat di bawah payung monopoly. Then didn’t bother our complaints all along to improve service. Your days are numbered.

Since I am not home, I can't test if 398 (NHK) is actually truly accessible. But for the others, yes, I can now watch them

I’m on Primary Pack, Ch 398 can watch.

Yeah. NHK World Premium (CH398) used to be part of Dynasty/Chinese Favourites.
Since they moved all channels in that pack/addon into Family/Primary Pack from 1 Apr 2024, hence that is why you can watch it now.
In fact is, every Astro customers can watch it now, without subscribing to anything.

But, that channel has no subtitles (even if there is, then it's a hardcoded Japanese subtitles during non-Japanese dialogues), and their English audio dub are only applicable to very few programmes only.
It's like, that channel is meant for Japanese expats in Malaysia, not really meant for us locals to watch it. Unless if you can understand Japanese, then it's different story.
For those who don't know, Japan's NHK is like equivalent to our Malaysia's RTM, so don't expect too much from that Japanese channel.
*
Plus, it’s only viewable using satellite dish. Plug ‘n Play, Multiroom Smart TV & Astro GO cannot.

Since I was migrating from NJOI using the same NJOI Box (HD Zapper), so can watch already.

If migrate from njoi to assthrow need contract for 2 years, should get a new assthrow box.
Then your zapper can remain as it is can continue to watch those free channels.

If you want to convert your assthrow to njoi, you need to pay $$$ to assthrow again.. that you can avoid.
*
I was opt-in for a 0-month contract via a live agent from NJOI's WhatsApp.

Back in August 2023 got promo: Primary Pack for only RM40/mth* when migrating from NJOI.

*Rebate RM35 for 12 months though.

So basically is, now you're on Primary Pack 0 month contract at RM74.99 but you get RM35 rebate, hence you're paying RM39.99?

The rebate lasts for 12 months or 24 months?
Let's say it's 24 months. Then from the 25th month onwards, you'll be paying RM74.99 oh... sweat.gif
What do you plan to do from the 25th month onwards?
*
12 months actually when I checked my Astro bill.

Yeah, I know. One month before canceling my subscription, I'll try to call Astro, to see if they could retain my RM35 discount for a longer time tongue.gif

Njoi family pack now is RM28 for 30 days excluding SST.
I think Njoi family pack has more channels than assthrow itself.
*
But no Astro GO access (or NJOI Now anymore). If got mobile streaming for sure I'm retaining my NJOI subscription.

For now NJOI customers kena pay extra for sooka mobile app, just to access content anywhere.
