From October 9, Disney+ will replace the Disney+ Hotstar brand in Malaysia, coinciding with Star’s global rebrand as Hulu.

This is essentially a rebrand: Disney+ Hotstar and Star will transition to Disney+ and Hulu starting October 9.

However, the platform is still running on the current Disney+ Hotstar interface, known as “Hotstar X.” In the future, we may see the rollout of the native Disney+ UI, similar to what’s available in the U.S. and Singapore.

For instance, Hotstar X relies on phone number and OTP logins, while Disney+ uses the more universal email and password system.

"Disney+ Hotstar" will become just "Disney+" from 9 Oct 2025 onwards. All this happens because of some company merger happening within Disney in India, which impacts the "Hotstar" brand.
Sadly, the same subpar app UI as what we're getting today will remain as-is even it becomes "Disney+".
We still won't getting the premium UI as what the international version of Disney+ users get, which is what I have been hoping for many years already...

With the Hots*** out of the picture, I hope this rebranding into Disney+ means we could be a step closer into getting the same premium UI as international version of Disney+ in the near future.

1 more month, my contract will end soon, and they offer much more expensive package to me.

Zee Cinema (currently on Ch 251) will be relocated to Ch 117 effective October 13.

Ch 251 will be left vacant.

The move groups Zee Cinema, which airs only Hindi movies, alongside Colors (Ch 116), another Hindi entertainment channel.

Fyi, since the Sun NXT app was added to Astro in April, all Indian channels are now included by default for every Astro customer, regardless of ethnicity.

To answer your question, no. You can “disable” it by using the parental control.

Indians are complaining Astro got fewer  local Deepavali shows (in Astro Channels, not those from India ones) than previous years.

Also they complained no hype around Deepavali.

I think the poster is from the sale agent, not directly from Astro. There's no announcement of Deepavali promotion on its official website. Only countdown to 10 10 sale.

Definitely won't be perpetual, bruh... It is absolutely impossible that Astro will offer such big discounts to last permanently.


RM199.99 minus RM101.00, so it's -RM98.99 difference.
My best guess would be, that RM98.99 monthly rebate will only last for 24 months (same as 24 months contract).
But would there be any other T&Cs, I have no idea... Maybe they only allow few hours window to new customers to take up that offer, or entire day of 10.10?
Anyway, I've been using Astro for sooo many years, so this offer doesn't bother me anyway

astro was one of the few companies that were arrogant and never valued their customers,thats why they are now at the brink of collapse  they never had a toll free line to begin with!

There's very limited international contents providers that have HD channels to begin with..... Almost all under astro offering.... Some current offering ceases because went out to OTT platform or being bought over by them....
