astro Vellithirai (SD) and astro Vinmeen HD ended their broadcast on Singtel TV at 0000hrs those morning .... both chs ended with a promo promoting the 9pm series premiere, Kalvanai Kandupidi (which ironically is not able to view by viewers here). After the promo end, it just freezes on the channel logo, which Singtel then cut to their slide.

That's quite fast..

What happened to your existing PVR box? "PVR Functionality Not Available" message appear, and all your recordings went missing?
Most likely the hard disk in your PVR box is spoil already.

I saw on YouTube, where someone manage to dismantle PVR box and change the hard disk inside into a new one, and eventually seems successful after complete formatting the hard disk in PVR box.
You got to be handy enough to try, if you want la. Disclaimer: Do it at your own risk.

Otherwise, report to Astro that something is wrong with your PVR box and you want to get it changed to PVR box and you die die also don't want Ultra Box.

If they ask, your house got Internet or not. You say don't have. Then they'll have a better reason to give you PVR box.
There's no more brand new PVR box now. Only refurbished PVR boxes.

There are two versions of Astro PVR box DMT 5:

1) DMT5 (sometimes known as DMT5 v1)


2) DMT5 v2

So which one you're using?  The obvious difference on the front panel between the two Astro PVR DMT5 models are:
- DMT5 has "B.yond" logo, while DMT5 v2 doesn't have.
- Dolby logo shown on DMT5 is "Dolby Digital" while DMT5 v2 has a bigger logo of "Dolby Audio"
- And also, the overall dimensions of DMT5 set-top-box is much wider than DMT5 v2.

Anyway, for the sake of the damaged button on the right corner of your PVR box, you want to change to a brand new PVR box?

I dunno whether Astro would let you change or not, since your PVR box still works fine, isn't it? Other than the front panel button problem?
Astro will definitely tell you that they've stopped manufacturing PVR boxes and urge you to upgrade to Ultra Box, and they likely won't take the initiative to tell you that they actually have refurbished PVR box DMT5 v2 sets.
So either you beg them to give you PVR box, or you tell them you didn't subscribe to Internet at home (so that they can't offer you Ultra Box), or you blackmail them saying that you will terminate Astro if they don't give you PVR box.

Eventually if they let you change it, don't forget that you'll bound to 24 months contract.

When will the HD version to be available on Astro? And could you share with us here on the source of this info?

After my PVR has been updated to latest version, the picture quality of HD channel has decrease. For example when there is a scene in dark environment, the will be a lot of noises and kinda blur. Other than that I dont see any different from the previous version.

It is pretty obvious that Astro is treating Go Shop channel 111 as a permanent channel now.
If it's only for Ramadan and Raya, they could have cease it long ago...

Cuz for Astro, it seems they have a lot of potential clients, and the "client's demand" seems promising, hence they are totally fine to create as many Go Shop channels as they want, as long money keep coming in. 
I won't be surprised if the number of Go Shop channels would keep increasing till as many as Astro Best/Astro First PPV movie channels in the future.

If I were you, I will just ignore that channel and watch something else.
Or better yet, lock the channels you don't want to watch by using Parental Controls feature and lock it with a 4 digits PIN.
Default PIN is 0000.

I wonder those PVR DMT 5 v2 box users out there... Does this ever occur to you, or anyone that you know  ?

From the looks of it, it seems pretty fragile and appears to be one of a common minor defects for PVR box...
I've seen quite a few users complained about this for the past few months.
