for those who have issue with chromecast after the upgrade on their DIR-850L router - i had to do this (there maybe other ways, but this one seems to work for me):

1) Create a new guest account (dlink-guest-xxxx or rename it). Disable the internet only access
2) Configure chromecast to connect to that guest account.
3) Other devices like your desktop PC, laptop,tablets/smartphone - connect to your regular (non-guest SSID). You can cast to the chromecast normally now.

Hope that helps someone after troubleshooting for a whole night and several minutes in the early morning.

Just change the router and all your problems will be solved whistling.gif

Hi, how is the range of this wifi adapter?
*
Not too bad, and sufficient for use if you are not located not too far from the AP.

I've been using Unifi 50mbps (upgraded from 30mbps) due to Thank You Suprise campaign for 2 years. I asked TM to downgrade back to 30mbps so I can pay cheaper that is RM139 monthly. I realized there is an Unifi TV Residential package that add RM30 to my bill. Can I ask TM to remove it from my bill so I only pay RM109 monthly?
*
Not going to happen. They bundled it together.

QUOTE(Ben Ling @ Jun 30 2018, 08:22 AM)
hmm so does that means those with higher subscription like 1Gbps ( in SG ) , if they use 2.4GHz, they also have limited speed at 50Mbps ?

the problem for me is my laptop doesn't support 5GHz, it can achieve around 40Mbps for 2.4GHz which is kinda slow and LAN connection get 95Mbps only (using Cat5E), that means I need to have a 5GHz wifi adapter in order to enjoy 100Mbps full speed.

1more question here, do you know why does my internet speed doesn't get over 95Mbps on LAN ?  As I said, I'm using Cat5E Lan cable, or should I get a Cat6 LAN cable ? Thanks
*
Yes, they have limited speed as well. 2.4GHz is usually full of interference and congestion, especially if you are staying at a residential place or in a condo. 5Ghz is much better, but you sacrifice range for speed.

Just get an AC adapter. It is inexpensive, and widely available.

Cat5e cable supports up to 1000Mbps, so that have not nothing to do with cable. Why don’t you try changing your router? Get the Asus RT-AC1300UHP and you will have improved range for the 5GHz, and more stable connection, compared to the TP-Link C1200.

How about the T2UH?

Signal will be better, but I prefer th T2U for its size and portability.

I don't think these problems related to IPv6
*
True, some problems with loading international sites. Some slowdown again.

guys, what router they giving up for new signup now? or still the same DLINK DIR 850L?
*
Same old shitty TP Link C1200, or the similar shitty D Link DIR850L.

QUOTE(jiaen0509 @ Jul 3 2018, 05:27 PM)
Useless higher speed as current 100mbps is much more enough. Unless they provide the good router. 2.4Ghz wont get full speed unless 5Ghz. But not much gadget supported 5Ghz.

No point to double the speed again.
*
They won’t ever provide good router doh.gif

BTW for those who wanted an internet only plan - SoyaCincau reports that the RM99 UniFi 30 plan will be Internet-only, but you may need to purchase your own router for that icon_idea.gif

*
I rather buy my own router than get the shitty stock router from TM.

My thoughts exactly laugh.gif

I wonder whether my 100Mbps connection is going to be upgraded to the new UniFi Turbo plan for no cost  hmm.gif

I know that 100Mbps is already overkill but hey any speed improvements are welcomed icon_idea.gif

Still need to find a decent router for that hmm.gif
*
Would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP if you are looking for something decent.

ok. tm tech came my house.

changed new hypptv box (1st gen, EC2108E) to the small white box (Huawei EC6108V8).

try to change vdsl model with the new ZTE-H267A modem.. but half failed to bridge with my tp-link router (TL-WR841N), internet OK but Hypptv failed.

now still using (5years old) huawei (HG-655a) modem with my tp-link router. tech will come back later.

now, should i kept using my tp-link router (should be better wifi range with antenna).. or use the all in 1 (ZTE-H267A modem, router, wifi) ?  unsure.gif
*
You should get your own router! You have to get the modem and HyppTV box from them, which is unavoidable, but get a better router yourself. Plenty of options from Asus as well as TP-Link.

currently using old Dlink orange router with 30mbps. if bumped up to more than 30 to like 100, will TM offer to change for a new router?
*
Just get your own router already, anything but that sweat.gif Would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.

Hard to say what protocol your modem is using without seeing the line that it is connected to.

Wow, your router is the ancient DIR-615. Change router if you can. Ideally the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.

That is the D-Link DIR615, which is older than the DIR-850L, and it is white and orange. You won’t b getting that anymore, and the DIR-850L is better, as the security issues got patched. But, it is still not a good router. I would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP or the TP Link Archer C7 v4 at least.

Currently i using stock Router that have hypp tv port configure. Can you provide me a site to show how to configure this router to same as my current router? I need the Hypp TV
*
Any good routers sold in Malaysia have the Unifi mode, so HyppTV wouldn’t be a problem to configure. Otherwise, you can configure it manually, via VLAN600.

alot ppl had mentioned C1200 is a bad router.. other than what you mentioned could you explain more? i'm using it with 100Mbps since day 1 unifi gave it to me.. random reboot so far no encounter ( mayb it happen during midnight while im asleep).. starting is freak slow.. but we usually leave it on for 24/7 right?

Im staying in single storey house and i could get 100mbps/50mbps download and upload speed pair with tplink t6e card.. my phone aso could get to such speed..

my colleague been poisoning me to change to asus ac68u.. but i couldnt convince myself.. afterall i felt C1200 not that bad...
*
You are just lucky, and not using too many devices. It will go down someday, and you will wish you change at that moment.

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Jul 9 2018, 03:22 PM)
I don't have random reboot issue.

But signal range is kinda weak. For e.g., the router is just separated by bedroom wall+wardrobe cabinet, but I got weak signal 2.4GHz (5GHz totally cannot) on my bed
*
Easily solved by changing routers, to the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.

QUOTE(prettyhunnyeo @ Jul 9 2018, 04:42 PM)
u expect tm to give u good router? I straight buy my own router after the tm guys left my house.
*
Haha, same here. I switched immediately after that.

I told TM contractors not to install for me, I will continue using mine. tongue.gif They are more than happy to do this. laugh.gif

But, you still take the free router they offer you, right? It is yours after all lol.
