Guys, how much do you pay for 30Mbps? Just realized the bill is almost RM200 every month even without GST.

169 + 30 for hyppTV which I dont even use.
*
Paying RM139 for 30Mbps + Jumbo Lite + Ruby pack.. Perpetual promo.. No free voice.

guys wanna something about 2.4GHz wifi

im having 100Mbps subscription, using Archer C1200 router, and is it possible to get 100Mbps wifi speed on 2.4GHz ? Or is 2.4GHz wifi limited to only 50Mbps ?
*
Limited.. Switch to 5Ghz network for full speed. Thing is, it sacrifices range for speed.. So you'll have to move closer to the router.

QUOTE(Ben Ling @ Jun 30 2018, 08:22 AM)
hmm so does that means those with higher subscription like 1Gbps ( in SG ) , if they use 2.4GHz, they also have limited speed at 50Mbps ?

the problem for me is my laptop doesn't support 5GHz, it can achieve around 40Mbps for 2.4GHz which is kinda slow and LAN connection get 95Mbps only (using Cat5E), that means I need to have a 5GHz wifi adapter in order to enjoy 100Mbps full speed.

1more question here, do you know why does my internet speed doesn't get over 95Mbps on LAN ?  As I said, I'm using Cat5E Lan cable, or should I get a Cat6 LAN cable ? Thanks
*
SilentVampire pretty much said it all... It's an unfortunate requirement for tech advancement. Various hardware simply must be upgraded in order to max benefits. Of course, if it doesn't bother you so much, just continue using what you have now until you can't bear it any longer. No choice, have to upgrade..

Thanks. Damn, I realized I've been overpaying for God-knows how long at RM169 + RM30 for Hypp. Back in 2015 when they offered the free upgrade to 30Mbps without the price change, wasn't informed about the price drop.

Just got mine changed to RM139, tied with 2-year contract.
*
You are welcome and glad to know it's easier to get now.. I was among the early price "downgraders" and it was a pain to approve.. thumbup.gif

Weird. I saw loads of comments that Unifi Advanced indeed did away with the calls. On the bill, I only saw Unifi + Hypp, no Std20.

Even the staff at the counter also asked me if I didn't need the free calls.
*
Wierd.. not really.. It's the norm. That's why we tell folks to always nego before signing on the line.. You never know what you can squeeze out of them. I don't have it either.. Was supposed to but due to a clerical error on their part.. It didn't happen.. After awhile I got fed up of making reports on the case. Just accepted the price reduction with no contract extension..

Guys, i am currently trying to upgrade my streamyx to Unifi. Have approached few Agents, a few guys told me that port is ful;, then another agent told me that it's not full, but when i check via Unifi coverage website, they show it's full. NOw the problem is the agent doesnt seem understand what i meant by upgrading, i wanted to keep my land line number but he kept on asking me to call up TM and cancel my streamyx account.
tried to asked for maxis, 2 agents told me that port is available. SO my current option is to cancel my streamyx but retain the land line and go for maxis, anyone know if i can port my land line number from TM to maxis?
*
You do realize that you can march into the nearest TM Point to deal directly with the source and not some agents.. You better not lose that port if there are hints of ports being full. Personal experience, if ports are full.. You'd have to wait and repeatedly keep checking until one is freed or TM comes to build more. The latter could take years even. Go down to a proper TM Point and not an authorized dealer as those have limited powers.

Yes.. It's compulsory to have at least a Hypptv package.

QUOTE(JuneResources @ Jul 3 2018, 04:27 PM)
The new plans are as detailed below:

1. A new affordable entry level unifi package at 30Mbps for targeted B40 segment. Lower income groups can access high-speed broadband through this package at a price point below RM100 (more than 40% lower price from the existing 30Mbps package). Registration for pre-booking starts 15 July 2018 via unifi.com.my.

REMARKS: This technique is almost like last time the Streamyx Jom Jimat Hebat which is available for target low income group users.

2. unifi ‘turbo’ plans offering more than double the current broadband speed. TM will gradually upgrade the speed for all its existing unifi customers at more than double the speed at no extra cost starting 15 August 2018, while new customers subscribing to existing unifi plans before 31 December 2018 will also be upgraded accordingly in 2019.

PROBLEMS: I guess most of the customers will even complain fierce about this double current broadband speed because same upgrade speed but different package pricing. shakehead.gif

3. Special package upgrade for pre-unifi (formerly known as Streamyx) customers in unifi areas nationwide. Eligibility status check will be available via unifi.com.my from 15 July 2018.

Note: All above are subject to technical availability in customers’ areas and terms & conditions.

REMARKS: Well~ Don't expect TM will act fast will available for the Unifi coverage   whistling.gif

4. A re-launch of its ‘unlimited’ unifi Mobile postpaid plan, which gives customers unlimited data, calls and messaging. This serves as a convergence offering exclusive to existing broadband customers and will be available at all unifi outlets and unifi.com.my from 15 July 2018.

Bazlan said as Malaysia’s convergence champion, “we believe that internet access is a critical enabler to grow our digital and creative economy towards making life and business easier for all”.

PROBLEMS: If you are telling unlimited data, call and messaging, then do you cap the speed max 3Mbps?

Currently, TM serves nearly two million broadband homes, more than 8 million individuals and connect more than 10 million devices nationwide.

He said the plans were to meet Malaysians' demand for faster internet connection at affordable prices, which has been its aspiration since the launch of unifi in 2010.

In October 2016, it announced its Broadband Improvement Plan (BIP), with speed increase upgrades of up to 100Mbps at the same price and completed the exercise in 2017 to benefit close to one million broadband customers nationwide, including 323,000 pre-unifi customers.

REMARKS: I guess some of the customers still did not enjoy free upgrade speed up to 100mbps. SO are you sure? cool2.gif

“Currently, we have started contacting our pre-unifi customers in unifi areas for an upgrade to unifi plans.

REMARKS: In simple, will start to contact for our pre-unifi customers "FOR SELECTED CUSTOMERS ONLY".

“For others not in unifi areas, we will continuously invest in our network to provide at least our 30Mbps entry level unifi package through the latest fixed and wireless broadband technologies.

REMARKS: Well~ Pls wait at least 5 years for other not unifi areas.  shakehead.gif
“Collectively, these new Broadband plans will catapult Malaysia beyond a majority of our regional peers into a competitive set of countries globally with high-speed broadband,” he added.

QUOTE(jian5481 @ Jul 3 2018, 04:57 PM)
I signed the package RM179 for 30Mbps few years back.

Previously when Najib announced the internet speed thing during one of the budget tabling, TM offered free speed upgrade. My area not qualified due to the building cable. All I got was the free 1 year Jumbo pack for HyppTV.

Then they offered + RM10, free upgrade speed. Not qualified too.

Now the same thing, upgrade speed...and cheaper 30Mbps for B40. I'm not qualified for both again.

Seriously, WTF?
*
Similar boat.. Luckily for me, managed to get the price reduced to RM139. Was hoping to reduce the price further cuz I strongly doubt they'd come upgrade infra. Folks like us be screwed again cuz don't qualify for both.

Was supposed to go to Quill City to complain, but latest news from my premise management is that Time had assigned a contractor to install the cables, so we might be getting Time broadband some time this year, hopefully. Going to just wait and cancel UniFi once Time is available
*
Same here.. TIME be moving in.. Should be in by year end at the latest. Ripe for penalty fee free termination from TM. My devices are ready.. laugh.gif

BTW for those who wanted an internet only plan - SoyaCincau reports that the RM99 UniFi 30 plan will be Internet-only, but you may need to purchase your own router for that icon_idea.gif

https://www.soyacincau.com/2018/07/03/tm-ne...wireless-turbo/
*
Syukur, I already paid for at least 3 TM supplied routers. Can sell all and buy 1 god router.. Problem solved. icon_idea.gif

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jul 3 2018, 10:48 PM)
Wouldn’t it be funny if TM bundle their usual C1200 router with the 10Gbps package.
*
Haha.. It would. But they wouldn't dare. Given current pricing, 10Gbps would cost a LOT!

QUOTE(ClarenceT @ Jul 4 2018, 10:25 AM)
FTTH can go beyond 1000Mbps (1Gbps). It is just a matter of time for TM to offer something beyond 100Mbps.
but >100Mbps is meaningless to me.
*
Fixed!

QUOTE(miloaisdino @ Jul 4 2018, 11:31 AM)
Actual utilised bandwidth is usually max out at 300mbps per household because of server and device limitations (think hdd, wifi, international speed). So tm can make it look as if the plan damn good when they just troll you over with the contention ratio.
In the end they get to collect more $$ from you. Its because he bandwidth not utilised so they 'give' it to you. The most common scenario its actually used is ironically speedtest.net cos it uses a ton of data and bandwidth lol
Everyone will regret in the end, peering to overseas get jammed during peak hours etc, poor routing to overseas, ping spike, packet loss and jitter etc. Not worth it imo. Its already happening in sg, thats why in actual fact the internet isnt as fast as korea and japan there.. the contention ratio for intl traffic will be crazy one

My seed boxes beg to disagree with you. smile.gif

Sure see many ppl complain MCMC.

Dear MCMC,

Unifi sux. Bloody scam me. I subscribe 10Gbps RM199. Even though not as cheap as SG, I'm don't mind. BUT now they tell me I need to fork out RM3500 to buy new router to take advantage of the speed which, I remind you, I already pay RM199 every month.

Repeat above for:
PC SFP card upgrade
PC CPU upgrade
PC NVME upgrade
Optical fibre re-cabling
802.11AD wifi AP
802.11AD laptop upgrade
etc...

Then after all that, play Fortnite or browsing Facebook still slow. But at least Lowyat forums will load fast before you even press enter.
*
Kek.. nice complaint template.. Saving for future use when I don't get my 10Gbps.. laugh.gif

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Jul 4 2018, 02:36 PM)
I dont want 60mbps @ RM139.

I want 5mbps @ RM20. (price per mbps is worst than above, but I fine with it)
*
Err.. A little too optimistic there are you.. But I do get your point.. My FIL until recently used to pay RM1xx for 1Mbps speed you know.. Luckily now upgraded to "pre-unifi" status and can get 10Mbps for RM129.. Would be RM99 but TM refuses to cancel the Hypptv mobile plan. not even STB..watch on TV plan.. They expect elderly folks to be watching Unifi TV on the mobile phones and pay RM30+ for it.. doh.gif

QUOTE(lyc1982 @ Jul 4 2018, 03:31 PM)
if 100Mbps subscribers not getting 25% discount...then it doesn't jive with Gobind's plan of 25% off by end of 2018...or only selected plans ?

hmm.gif
*
Valid point.. But then, if they "more then double" their speeds while retaining current pricing? Wouldn't that be more than 25% discount? hmm.gif

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jul 4 2018, 04:06 PM)
I think better not complain too much. Later TM give this. “In lieu of the 25% discount, we are giving you a 33% speed upgrade. Please restart router to enjoy your new 133Mbps speed.”
Then you do Speedtest and only get 106Mbps, TM say best effort 80%. 106-109 is what I’m getting now. So we all back to square 1 while TM mission accomplished.
*
Son, you basically just predicted what will happen.. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Jul 4 2018, 04:23 PM)
They can always say, 100mbps original pricing RM329, now becomes RM199, so more than 25% discount.
*
Yeah and legally.. They'd probably get away with it.. cuz if we check our bills.. They always put the full price and THEN give us discounts. Meaning that original price is still official price.. Discounts are just that. Like we go to night market and price tag says RM50, but we nego to RM40.. That's just seller and you price. officially, product price remains RM50.. TM please do not spin like this.. Give true reduced price and faster stable speeds.

Hi guys,

I'm currently on VIP 10 at RM149 per month, but I just noticed there is a unifi lite at the same speed for just RM129? Looks like I have been paying extra for a similar package.

May I know what is the difference between the 2 and how do I switch to this lite package or are there any better package (higher speed/same price) for my situation? Thx
*
Call TM to nego...Better still, walk to a TM Point... If your place max can only get 10Mbps.. Then push for lowered pricing.. If you'll get depends on your negotiation skills and if they want to give. If your place can support higher speeds, then next best is 30Mbps plan for RM139. This is still a better deal than what you are paying and getting now.

Anyone who is staying on high rise building (copper cable) managed to upgrade to 50mbps? I was told that for copper cable the max speed it can carry is only 30mbps at most.
*
You were told the truth.. Technically it's 50Mbps but because they have to dedicate 20Mbps strictly for Hypptv viewing.. So max usable is 30Mbps.

For now? Cannot.. Plus I think it'll be messy.. Or perhaps not.. Depends on how they setup their systems. But I guess since they'll be introducing plans without Hypptv.. Got chance.. Won't hold my breath though.. tongue.gif

Mehhh...

I got the terima kasih rewards more than a year back upgrading my speed from 30 to 50mbps. After a year delay, I called and ask why. They simply said that my apartment does not support speed above 30mbps. So really pointless if this new offer of 300mbps they will be giving unless they go full fibre optic.

Anyway, I now quit unifi and installing TIME. No bullshit promises anymore.
*
Same here. By right, I too should be paying RM179 for 100MBPS and with these new bumps, be upgraded to 800Mbps.. But since they've refused to come upgrade infra to support all these.. Gonna be stuck with 30Mbps.. TIME can't move in fast enough.. Bye to TM then. Pity those on "pre-unifi plans.. Even worse.
