QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 2 2018, 08:29 AM) No. Transferring money is among WeChat users like your friends and etc. Expenses is for merchants and bills payments, Didi (e-hailing), train tickets for e.g. Now I am confused. Please clarify... You mean, in China if I want to use Wechat China Wallet to buy stuff from China merchants and pay Didi, I need to link a China Credit Card to my Wechat China wallet? And a China ATM card will not do? And I also can't use my Wechat Msia Wallet to pay China merchants and Didi while in China?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 2 2018, 09:17 AM) Can. All can be used to pay - ATM cards, debit cards and credit cards. Only if you want to transfer money to your friends and give angpau, you need to link an ATM card or debit card.No. You cannot use Malaysia wallet to pay China merchants in China.
Looks like this Wechat is only useful if going to China. And going to China more or less must have Wechat. May be time to have a look at Alipay?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 2 2018, 09:34 AM) Yes, it is useful to use in China. AliPay is the same, you will need to be verified (using passport for foreigners) to receive and transfer fund to other users. You cannot reload your wallet unless you link to a China bank account. Now I have both WeChat Wallet China and AliPay to use in China and previously I had issue with AliPay to receive fund from other users. So I was using only WeChat wallet. To me, I can still survive with either one because the places I went have both available. Now will be better for me because I can use both now. The important question is, does Alipay insist you have a China mobile number like Wechat is?

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Aug 3 2018, 02:36 PM) Try re-login again, you might have tried it previously and it didn't work, but maybe you can give it a shot this time again and see if it works cuz it's been a while now. Or try doing as what Heavenn said, it should theoretically work. Because I've done similarly, but it's to enable the money packet feature on my friend's side, I tried sending a money packet to him and it helped him get the money packet feature enabled on his side. Yes, try everything. Log out. Log in. Install. Uninstall. Link card. Unlink card. Change languages. All sorts of thing and don't know which one did the trick but now I have 2 wallets. Now the next hurdle would be, how am I going to top up my China wallet using non-China card. Or transfer money from Malaysia wallet to China wallet

QUOTE(emch3w @ Aug 4 2018, 04:10 AM) Don't try...until now it is impossible... The only way to top up your China Wallet from outside of china without any bank account or card from china is ask your China friend to top up for you. Or, with your own risk buy the top up credit with those ppl who selling it, can find on fb and online...(anyway, I had never try, so I not sure how secure to deal with...try at your own risk). Even if you have money in your wechat and did not link it to your own china card, I think there may be a daily spending limit.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 4 2018, 04:28 PM) This looks interesting, I may look into this option in my next trip. My PayPal is linked with credit cards, not sure if that will work. Well, will definitely check this out. The rate looks good. Some people said if u download wechat in China, you can link your foreign CC. So I used a VPN to download from Hong Kong. The China wallet did allow me to link a foreign CC but will not allow me to do China wallet top up with that foreign CC.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 5 2018, 05:18 AM) Even using a China credit card, you cannot reload your wallet too. It can only be used when you are making payment straight to the merchant. Are you saying, I can pay China vendors and street hawkers and taxis etc using my foreign credit card but doing it through Wechat? If yes, that's great already.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 5 2018, 06:32 AM) No, our foreign cards added into China wallet is useless, can't do anything with it anymore these days. Though I don't understand why WeChat allows when it serves no purpose. Even when Wechat detected you being in China?

QUOTE(kclamtarc @ Aug 12 2018, 07:01 AM) i assume you are asking how do you top up China wallet? one of the ways is, when you are in China, you pay your hotel receptionist an amount of money in cash (say, 500 yuan), then he can send you hongbao worth 500 yuan to your wechat. click and open the hongbao to recieve the money, and it will be in your China wallet. I was told, without your own China card linked to your China wallet, there is a limit you can spend per day or per transaction. Even if you have plenty of money in your wallet, you can't use it.

QUOTE(willonsk @ Aug 16 2018, 04:48 AM) What if we verified our China Wallet with Credit card ? my wallet was verified thru credit card instead of China card I can send angpao / received angpao from other. yet try spend more than 1k From what I see, the verification of your China Wallet with a non-China credit card is for show only. Can't be used.

QUOTE(Xaser_3 @ Aug 19 2018, 05:20 PM) Nope, you are absolutely spot on here regarding this matter. We definitely need a China ID and local China mobile phone number to get through that identification and verification process. It's not so much a big deal for me as there is Alipay available as alternative. I tried to link my Alipay to bet it verified but failed. Does it only link Credit Card?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Feb 24 2019, 09:04 AM) As mentioned earlier that's not a real verification. You still need Chinese card to verify though. I got this wallet years ago, not sure when will strike me. Pray hard it will not affect Alipay too. + China mobile number?

I used to be able to receive Yuan Red Packet on my previously already verified wallet that doesn't require China mobile number. But now suddenly need to do verification again and this time, insisted on having a China mobile number. Anyone having this problem also?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Mar 8 2019, 05:37 PM) I just noticed this post. You verified earlier with China ID and bank account? No. Previously my wallet was verified with Malaysian debit card and with that, I could send and receive. But now suddenly can't receive and need verification with china card and mobile number.
