you cant compare vram like dat
3070 faster vram
and every gen nvidia tweaks the hardware compression on it.

whats disappointing is da cuda.. so ampere 5k equals to turing 4k.. something off here
*
Guess I'll do more research on how much VRAM consumed by games I'm interested to play, one of it are Cyberpunk 2077 hmm.gif

really rip for those who bought it recently.
but u can claim freebie tho..  biggrin.gif

How about those bought before august biggrin.gif 2 months old GPU but depreciate like hell, but I guess either they dont care or wont aware. Nerd/geeks mostly aware incoming nVidia new lineup, so wont purchase highend GPU these few months.
But I think not that bad la, not like the current depreciated price will degrade GPU's performance what biggrin.gif

Hardware unboxed released a video yesterday on updated benchmarks for Radeon VII, which has 16GB VRAM. They touch very lightly on the subject.

It is highly doubtful that any game slated for release this and maybe even next year will *require* > 10GB VRAM since the mass audience won't even have GPUs that have that. As a reference, according to steam surveys, RTX 2080 and better GPUs are like 1% of the gaming population.

But yeah, do more research - I learned a lot over the past week on this. Ultimately, VRAM issues would result in insane frame rate drops as it swaps over to system RAM for textures. And even the most heavy game so far doesn't max it out. And remember that VRAM allocation =/= VRAM usage.
*
Yeah, most popular are still mid range GPU, and not RTX gen also laugh.gif but mostly on 1080P
I always using xx70 series are I'm on 3440x1440 so slightly harsher than 1080P, also I'm poor faq that doesnt game much anymore so I cant justify spending too much on graphic card.

Can consider ultrawide 3440x1440 as well .
*
I'm gonna aim 3070 for my ultrawide 1440p, should be nice 70-100fps
Just bought HZD last weekend, 40-50fps even with tweaked setting, luckily I'm tolerable even at that fps sweat.gif

Would you guys say that purchasing a used 2080 Ti to game at 1440p 144hz is a good alternative over the 3080/3070, given the scarce supply of units during these few months?
*
if below near-new @ rm2k, maybe I'll consider, else 3070 @ rm2.3k are my aim.

go go go..
*
have this kind of cash amount doesnt meant need spend for top range. What if one using 1080P or 1440P only, no point push 3090 sweat.gif also other h/w limitation.

PCImage Low Yat got Asus Strix RTX 3080. Must bundle with i7 rig minimum.

RM4699 for Asus Strix. More Asus tax.
*
WTH, although I'm aiming 3070, and probably will build new rig to replace current Ryzen 1700 rig, but that i7 rig minimum a bit ridiculous ?

Anyone have recommendation on using GPU Stand for Zotac 3080?

I use hot glue stick tied together, some flexibility, and to match general white theme.

I guess just ignore enough. If dont trust the brand, be your way, there's no harm as many good brand available as well.

Tried my luck at zotac 3080 ( trinity OC ) annnnnnnd jackpot doh.gif Graphic driver crashed/issue
Multiple attempt to install, mostly failed. There's chances of successful install, but doesnt looks like working as it's geforce driver not launching or running.
Chances of getting repeated 'Force to reinstall graphic driver' are there also, black screen ( like what happen when you update nvidia driver ) every 2 seconds, windows remain running fine.

Was aiming 3070 but dont have good choice ( ie TUF OC for 3.1k ) so decided to increased budget to get cheapest 3080 puke.gif

What is your power supply?

You can also try display driver uninstaller first.
*
I assembled almost whole new system ( except storage ) with Zen 3
PSU got silverstone 80+ gold, 750W

I suspect not power issue. For sake of comparison, I've first installed new 3080 to current Ryzen 1700 system, of coz I swapped out PSU to new one, test run BFV and HZD a bit, framerate fluctuating 40-80fps I thought driver not up to date sweat.gif

I heard this issue, so havent install firestorm yet to kacau RGB.

Actually I havent even have nvidia driver installed, due to issue stated before. Right now should be on basic/generic windows 10 graphic driver.

Oh nice, I was eyeing that vision card ( tried to get white minimalist build ), albeit for 3070, saw price 2.9k, but sadly no available stock when I build mine last weekend.

Cool! Thanks I will checking out and I also have Horizon Zero Dawn, haha but currently only can play as SDR until I get a HDR monitor or connected to my LG C9 TV.
lol, what are you talking... ...  tongue.gif
Thanks and I am very happy able to get that, I not stay at KL, here even difficult to get such thing. This is the only left out 3080 I can find so far on 10 Nov 2020 that day when I do a purchase and they only do with PC bundle, I ask and no shop is plan for selling any Geforce RTX 30x0 card as à la carte tongue.gif at all, seems like at least not for this year.

Another thing they not intend to sell separately was AMD Ryzen 9 5000 series.

Lucky I do plan for building up a PC, so I take bundle for this two things. They only need bundle with New PC build (just the main PC, no need included Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse) and you can choose whatever others item per your wish.

Last week? So coincident, I also build up last week, I actually purchase it on 10 Nov, 2020 but later busy with my iPhone 12 Pro Max on 13 Nov 2020 until today just settle up everything and sharing, haha!
*
Damn, would like to see if HZD looks good with HDR or not smile.gif

Yeah, coincidentally I want to upgrade to Zen 3, after seeing good IPC performance increased, I decided to get new build since previous system 2-3 years old.
Most shop I asked in low yat also prefer to sell bundle, except zotac and maybe galax.

After few trial and error, seems to found culprit of why Win10 cant recognize my zotac 3080 trinity OC, seems to be lian-li's vertical GPU mount kit ( O11D-1X ) doh.gif

That vertical kit ( including PCI-E riser ) works fine for my 1070ti, boot into windows and nvidia control panel shows up, GPU-Z able to reach sensor info fine, card's fan will start/stop itself ( should based on temperature )

While with my 3080 after boot into win10, nvidia control panel missing, GF experience wont recognize driver installed, Win10's default Display Setting's resolution are greyed out. GPU-Z cant detect sensor info ( clock shows as 0GHz ). Card's fan are running 100% of time ( not sure if full blast )

So weird to me rclxub.gif if any have knowledge of why this happen, please do share. notworthy.gif
I cant find any meaningful info with quick google/reddit.

flex cable problem? hmm.gif

Not sure, but 1070ti on that same PCI-E riser, no issue at all.
Test swap few times, 3080 have issue, 1070ti no issue sad.gif

QUOTE(Fizzy-Fiz @ Nov 16 2020, 08:08 PM)
its a pcie issue. is your board am4?
basically pcie 4 slot > pcie 3 riser > pcie 4 card
you can try to change in bios to pcie 3 but that might not work
*
QUOTE(Bonchi @ Nov 16 2020, 09:12 PM)
cough* riser incompatible with pcie 4.0 *cough (if your mobo is also pcie 4.0
*
I did suspect this, and configured all PCI-E 16 main slot to gen 3 in BIOS ( MSI B550 tomahawk )
No luck sad.gif
I would guess if PCI-E gen version issue, either it boot or dont boot at all ?

What's weird is, 3080 on riser, can boot to win10 without issue, normal usage ( Chrome/youtube/install s/w ) all no issue. Just graphic driver 'appeared' missing, so Win10 fall back to it's own generic display driver.

QUOTE(sai86 @ Nov 16 2020, 09:41 PM)
as others said, you need to have pcie 4.0 riser instead. else via this method. plug in pcie 3.0 graphic card, boot into bios -> configure pcie lane to pcie 4.0 (depends on your mobo). turn off pc, slot in pcie 4.0 GPU. boot up.
else, get compatible pcie 4.0 riser.

I think worthy to try, tomorrow after work will try hmm.gif
