I find it odd that the Ti will be released alongside the other models... it is so unlike Nvidia, since they prefer to release Ti months later. Wonder what's that about...

Perhaps 2019 = refresh/rebrand of Turing is a possibility since they will already "have it all out of the door" come 20th August.

Also the big question is how will Ray Tracing benefit games in the nearest future - - I can see Metro Exodus having Ray Tracing as a patch etc., not sure about other games. Hope Jen-Hsun announces some upcoming titles that will support Ray Tracing.

Lastly, there are leaks that point to the GTX 2060 = performing to GTX 1080 levels. If that's the case, we might be in for a nice performance leap.

Final specs:

If 2060 are in 1080 range, I will really consider getting it. While it might not able to handle max graphical setting for AAA games on my 3440x1440 monitor, it should allow high setting for coming years games.

Do you guys think RTX 2080 will be overkill for 144hz 2560 x 1440 max settings AAA games?

Gonna just wait real world review for AAA games on QHD or 4K resolution.

Donno how reliable that is, but can only hope it's true. As almost all games had almost 50% performance increase.

After reading review, RTX are quite impressive, on paper because those new features aren't available on games now.
Ray tracing too taxing, maybe another one or two generation see how.
I'm more interested over Tensor core, simply, AI. In theory it could boost AA performance a lot, double RT performance etc.

With just 40% increase over 1080ti performance, 2080 is no no for me, unless price dropped to same as 1080ti tongue.gif

Now wait 1080ti price drop, or grab 1080 cheap and upgrade next year biggrin.gif

Will gaming performance drop when the tensor cores are being used for calculations? I haven't googled myself but I'm guessing there will be a performance impact. Time to buy that second 2080ti and make Nvidia happy  biggrin.gif

Realistically I'd buy a used 1080ti and save even more than being an early adopter of the 2080, I don't plan to go 4k yet since I can't afford the monitor I want, 1440p for the time being. Wait 1 year when the 2090 and 2090ti are announced, then only upgrade.
*
I only briefly go through anandtech article, it should not, as it's dedicated physical core.
From my understanding on the article, with DLSS it'll boost performance by some margin. The theory are with DLSS, you wont need AA at all, and usually AA cut performance. DLSS allow you to regain that lost framerate, while at the same time give you high quality AA image quality.
One weakness/restriction thou, it'll require game developer and nVidia to 'train' that game in order to work with DLSS.

Just saw an article worthy of reading on DLSS at guru3d, later finish work chew through rclxms.gif

DLSS = performance boost in game or double the fps.
Only RTX 2080 can do DLSS or double performance ?

In long run , rtx 2080 is better but now,  no games support RT , less game with DLSS or even a few.DLSS more for FPS games.
But what happen if DLSS + RT together ? will it perform at 4k with stable 60pfs ?
*
I remember anandtech claimed DLSS will nearly double the framerate of RT demo.

Below are guru3D's DLSS sample.

da phone bat will decay, screen may crack, new os will slow down.. cpu/igpu on da phone will degrade, water proof seal in the phone will decay..or worse case blew up..

and da rtx still be running.

all in the space of three years. we all know it. just many dont want to admit it.

Asus phone ? Chances to get new OS are low laugh.gif

Dilemma of big company, they knew their software sucks to hell but unwilling to admit. TBH if they would just put Android One in their phone, I would jump in and buy.

QUOTE(diehard1979 @ Sep 29 2018, 11:12 AM)
I though the cost of manufacturing and research for CPU and GPU technology should not very far so the price will also not far.

Last time when new GPU out, it will price at last generation price while earlier generation will drop certain% of price but now when new generation come out, it markup even more price while earlier generation only drop abit. If this going on, after a few generation, I think it may jack up to RM10000 for 1 new GPU.
*
IMO it's lack of competition ( AMD/ATI ranting.gif ) while at the same time, games are pushing hard on GPU. nVidia need to push for more power but since no competition, they can jack up the price as well sad.gif
Remember last time I only buy mid range GPU ( ie 660 ) and it's enough for all my gaming needs. Reminder, dont kena poison of UW or 4K laugh.gif

Just wanted to ask , if next year treade war happen , will gpu price decrease or increase ?
Read there are some mix results, some will decrease because they will better sell out more on asia country than shipping to us where taxes is highest among all.

How about gpu ?

There's theory that it will benefit SEA, as company shift their production from China to SEA.

Just received Zotac RTX 2080ti AMP. Some pictures and preliminary bench result.
Tested on secondary PC with brely OC i7 6700K (4.2Ghz). Will test main PC with i7 8700K (4.8Ghz) later. Gfx score seems ok but only hovering around 1900Mhz.

If "Cyberpunk 2077" supports RTX, then I'll consider an RTX GPU big time...

Until then, I can't be bothered. I can't tell the difference between RTX ON/OFF for the 'Shadow of the Tomb Raider' demos  biggrin.gif  Do a blind test and I will fail.

Need more 'reflective' games like Remedy's title.

Still have to remember, game devs put priority for non-ray traced / rasterized first before ray traing so without RTX you are not going to 'lose anything' gameplay wise.

DLSS.... hmm... interesting, but if this is the selling point for RTX 2070, no thanks.

For prices to drop, it is going to take time, and it won't be anytime soon.
*
I bet are DLSS gonna be adopted by many games developer in future, but ray-tracing really still sounds like gimmick now biggrin.gif

Skip this gen, wait and see next gen how, by that time we should know if both tech are success or gimmick, based on feedback/popularity of supported games.

Let's be clear here, ray tracing isn't a gimmick. Aren't you a photographer? You should know how important lighting is.

Ray tracing is a future for 3D graphics the world is heading to. But it needs a stepping stone and yes, unfortunate as it sounds - people have to be suckers to adopt the first generation of consumer GPUs in order to push the industry forward. It's just a pill that the industry has to swallow, that's all.

Everyone can talk shit about the prices, about how self centered in what nvidia has to give you and all that bigot nonsense, but at the end of the day - ray tracing for the masses need to start somewhere.
*
I know ray tracing are good technology for games, but it has yet to prove it's worthiness laugh.gif or wide acceptance by game developer. Gimmick are idea that attract people, regardless useful or not, until it become success, it's still gimmick now.
What worry me are performance reduction ( even with dedicated cores ) are quite high and it might steer game developers away. Comes to think, DLSS also nVidia technology, but as it's actually improve performance ( with acceptable quality degradation ) in theory should be widely accepted by game developers.

We'll know in coming years biggrin.gif

I got zotac amp. Poor overclocker..barely able to sustain 2050mhz, mostly around 1980mhz.
I think 7k are probably si lottery and water block. Might also be flashed with 380 power limit bios from Galax.
*
Isnt Zotac AMP! series famous of huge cooler, some even more power phasing and extra power input ( I'm looking at 1070ti AMP! )
Was tempted to get AMP! or AMP! extreme for that free MHW rclxms.gif
