8GB VRAM at more than RM1k is automatic not ok.

Totally not worth it, at similar prices even last gen 3060Ti trounces 4060

Did you check ringgit these days?

Sigh... makes me think maybe we should be saving money for the coming rainy days instead of splurging on a new GPU.

The prices for the 4080S seem to be in the ballpark of what I expected ~ RM5200-RM5500.

Not bad (initial pricing wise) for a newly released GPU series this day and age.
These are from DotaTech.

I am actually one of those who wasn't comfortable aiming for a 4090 (Desktop) for multiple reasons, so I set for a 4080 instead last year but was hoping the prices would drop.

And then came the Super announcement and the price tag of $999. It's likely I will get a 4080 Super. I do have the beast on Mobile though (but that's more of a 4070 Ti - 4080 at best performance)  tongue.gif

Just be wary of Ventus 3X gimped bios card, and Giga Super noisy & underperforming cooler version

I have a few gaming PCs.

Main gaming PC: Alienware Aurora R12 (11900k, 3090, 4K TV and all)—no more warranty, also the one I had planned to upgrade to a 4080, need that Frame Gen goodness
"Family" gaming PC (the nieces and nephews play on it): i7-3770k, 3080 Ti (super bottlenecked, but got the OEM GPU for cheap)
Gaming laptop: Illegear Onyx GX (13900HX, 4090)- got this recently, hybrid work/play

Even though I'm in no rush to upgrade, there are still some ways to go to the end of the year for a potential Blackwell release, and I think a 4080 (likely a Super) would do my 4K PC some good.
*
You ady has a good setup in fact a few very good ones. Im not sure if you really will gain significantly much 3090->4080S even with FG, cuz if your the latency sensitive type player you will notice the input lag from those fake frames. FG FPS numbers only looks good in benches.

Since you got the money for top enthusiast stuff, a 4090 makes more sense or if you can wait until Blackwell a 5090.

However if you wanna buy anyways better do b4 CNY as prices will likely increase due to our ringgit getting shittier daily (unless you got lubang to buy from USA lah)

Does anyone have a tried and trusted HDMI 2.1 cable for 4K 144Hz HDR usage? I found that sometimes during gaming, I get black screens - after switching from HDMI to DP, the problem goes away, leading me to suspect the cable is the problem.
I'm currently using a Vention HDMI 2.1 cable.

A member was using cables from Promate & IDT, maybe can give them a look?

Planning to upgrade to RTX4080.

Can you guys suggest me which PSU suitable for this GPU.

I'm replacing my 450W SFX power supply.
*
Be aware that 4080Super should have lower MSRP so if that 4080 is priced higher get the Super. In USA, there is the conundrum that OG 4080 is still sold at higher prices than Super cuz Nvidia didnt lower their MSRP for OG.

As for PSU at least 850W Gold A tier rank ATX3.0 for the 12VHPWR (or preferably with 12V-2×6). For SFX i guess its Corsair SF-L?

Thanks for the info. Looks like people need to create a wiki page similar like to gaming strategy guide with all those convoluted GPU and CPU naming schemes.

So which is cheaper, smallest SFX or slight longer SFX-L?
*
Its not so difficult if only the brands AMD & NVIDIA arent trying to confuse & f**kup new buyers by upcar-ing their product segmentations.

Bigger PSU will have better cooling but eats up space in tiny ITX case. Depends on you.
Imo only Nvidia FE cards fits well into ITX builds, AIB are mostly too big so its a hit or miss. Try not to concern on pricing as you be paying ITX Tax anyways.

With the trend of GPU getting thicker and hotter, I've given up entirely on the SFFPC case.
Now my route is transitioning into Open PC Case like this.
Better cooling and GPU fitting size while still keeping small footprint on my desk.

BTW, in need SFX psu because I don't need the extra cable length and it can be tidier.
*
Not to be a downer but unless your running it in aircond room, you likely might face cooling issues if pushing to the max. These open bench type have basically zero airflow pressure to move heat away from the system so heat will generally hang around. Blower style GPU tends to be the favourite as it functions to move heat out of the PC ie GTX 1000 series FE.

Just know that new RTX3050 6GB no need extra power connect
Easy for those old pc and this in low profile

But performance also like crap despite paying full fat 3050 8GB pricing.

I recently bought the RTX 4070 SUPER new for RM2.9K (OG MSRP was 3.4K, but they had a RM90 for 900 discount going on then) during the 2.2 Sales on Lazada.

It's the Gigabyte Eagle OC ICE Edition since it was one of the few models that i could trust to fit my case, and also decent enough in build quality. I intentionally avoided shorter cards like the MSI Ventus 2X since they are notoriously poor in component and build quality.

The card itself took 3 long weeks to arrive due to stock and availability issues. Apparently 4070 SUPERs are selling like hot cakes according to the vendor i was in touch with after they announced the shipping delay to me. For that price though, i was willing to wait.

I avoided the Ventus 2x even though it's much shorter since i read that MSI really cheaped out on components and the build quality is awful for the Ventus 2x line up for Ada in general.

Moving up from Turing, Ada is quite mind blowing to me in terms of how power efficient it is.

After using MSI Afterburner to undervolt and oc the VRAM, i can get faster than stock performance for less than 50% the stock TDP.

220W is baseline, after the tweaks it only consumes 140-150W at full load or so, but in actual gaming at 1440p60 locked it barely touches 70-100W most of the time.

At the 220W baseline TDP with 1.1V, the card can be pushed to beyond 4070TI stock performance with a simple 150 core clock OC and a +2000MHz MEM OC. The GDDR6X VRAM surprised me at how it was able to be pushed (almost 20% higher than stock).

Overall I am quite satisfied with the performance of this card in general at the target resolution i'm using which is 1440p.

*
Good buy at good price. Good OC too. Just monitor closely your temps as Giga Eagle have crap cooler https://www.techspot.com/review/2791-nvidia...rtx-4070-super/
"We also have the Gigabyte Eagle OC, another base model using a compact triple-fan cooler. This cooler, previously used on their standard RTX 4070, was one of the worst performers in our 4070 roundup, reaching a peak GPU hotspot temperature of 73°C at nearly 2,000 RPM.

Predictably, using this same cooler on a higher-powered GPU hasn't improved the results; in fact, it's even worse. The junction temperature hit 70°C, close to the hot spot temperature of the FE model, which is problematic as it resulted in a hotspot temperature of 85°C for the GPU. This is not ideal, and it's exacerbated by a high fan speed of 2,100 RPM, making this card both hot and loud at 38 dBA."

Dun listen to some craps ppl commented. Dun even think they hav been using or owed 4070s IRL to do comparison. It is a good buy and handsome white card. Giga did quite a good job even for their MSRP model.

Enjoy ur new gpu buddy

define bad cooling for a 220w GPU. Lol

buying dream GPU is something to cheer about. No need throwing unnecessary comparison. Bad temp compare to what? 75c is high? Do u what is really poor cooling models for 4070 and 4070s?
*
Why dont you read Techspot review for the answers or else if your lazy can watch HUB video? Both links i given.

I never said its a bad buy but there are caveats to this particular card. I said the same thing for MSI Ventus 2X as well. No need to be so defensive for Giga if they deserve it.

I'm aware of the video which i watched after placing the order, so I did have some concerns tbf.

But after getting the card and applying the UV (0.935V/2730 MHz) and with adjusted fan curve, the card is whisper quiet and cool 24/7.

Out of the box fan curve/temps could be better with the stock voltage yes, but i never use stock voltage (1.1V) and core oc except for benchmarking and stress testing purposes.

My previous Turing card didn't even have zero fan ability (lowest fan speed was 30%), so this in itself is a huge improvement at idle.
*
Yup as long as your aware and know how to control its weakness, its an alright card. Another Giga GPU weakness is poor PCB structural strength so for those triple fans I would strongly reco use GPU stand/holder and if you move PC around do take out GPU during transportation.

Of course I would also reco use the stand/holder for any triple fan GPU from any brand/AIB.

I had the same feeling as well when I bought my MSI 4090 in Feb24 from the same seller. Surprised that could apply the RM9 for RM90.
But that 4090 was just really big. I could get my previous 3080 to fit in the Alienware R12 case with a minor mod, but getting this 4090 into it was just too much work. It was just too long.

End up just taking an old casing and chop off the bottom 3.5in HDD rack and using it without the panels on. the 12VHPWR connector could not fit into the case. The R12 single fan radiator just use back and blow towards the front.

Today I received the MSI email stating that I redeem the free game promo by MSI, but they provided steam wallet code, which amount to about RM366.

Currently just using it with 80% power limit.

*
I saw are you using only 2 of the 8pin PCIE adaptor connection to the 12VHPWR to GPU? IINM for 4090 it requires 3 PCIE connection to the adaptor to get the full 600W supply that the 4090 needs.

OOT, want to ask you on how does the lazada rm9 for 90 works.. like does it mean for your RM 9000 GPU, you get (rm9 x 100 = rm900) discount? hmm.gif

I'm using 3x PCIE connection. Probably the angle of the photo, thanks for pointing it out. per my understanding, 3x PCIE would net me just 450W, to get the 600W, I would need 4x PCIE connection.
And yes, the Lazada bonus is like what you describe.
*
Oh ok thanks. But that capalang case really does the GPU an injustice.

besides, what is the difference between these two cards?

*
Will have no difference in performance, get the cheaper one. And if you use triple fan GPU, strongly suggest you get a GPU support stand/holder. Even cheapo will do, Giga GPU has weak PCB and easy to crack without support.

If you go with their fish tank case, either
1) fill up all the fan spots if you going to use CPU tower cooler for max cooling
or
2) use an AIO for CPU cooler

This to prevent your CPU from overheating

Yup, fish tanks generally have poor airflow movement so your gonna want lotsa fans or AIO or best case will load everything look like that pic

Oh and AIO should blow air OUT the case not into it.

Besides, is this PSU even sufficient for 4070 super?

Power Supply: ANTEC CSK650 80+ Bronze"
*
No hell no. That is a E Tier PSU more for office PC even if the wattage is high.

Go for at least C Tier PSU 700-750W Bronze ie MSI A750BN or 1st player steampunk 750 gold or Coolermaster MWE V2 700W Bronze or Corsair CV750

A crap PSU might still work when new but will easy to crap out and take your GPU along.
