Ouch... double whammy for Nvidia, first with the 3080 Ti and now the 3070 Ti sweat.gif

"What were they thinking?" comes to mind.

So nice to see price dropping biggrin.gif ... but it's still going to take a lot more time to have a widespread response

Wow, no more 3070/3080/3090 being the GPU option for the Aurora R12...

I thought allocation for OEMs would be far greater (and unlikely to go out of stock - even with extended lead time) but I guess Dell sold a lot more than expected tongue.gif

Hmm... quite true, won't go back to normal MSRP even if prices drop.

A friend of mine got a 3080 for RM3500 last year laugh.gif and I was like "Nahh... I'll wait for 3080 Ti."

Sure price will drop further... maybe next year smile.gif

MSRP? Almost all sellers already got the taste of higher than MSRP and the willingness of buyer to buy them.

Imagine a 3080 for RM4500 (when it eventually settles) and no more mining craze (mining still popular but not as crazy at it was for example).

I doubt we'll get to RM3500 LHR or otherwise. Maybe, in a couple of years.

Wow not bad for the 3080 Ti purchase... less than double the "RM3500 RTX 3080" price from last year. And furthermore it is the Ti version so can justify a bit for the 'slight' price increase over the 3080 tongue.gif

Seems like good times ahead, finally.

Steve tears apart the Dell R10 design choices laugh.gif (also no major change in R11 and R12)

Not totally GPU related but it has a 3060 Ti

Definitely on the 'pricier' side. If DLSS 3 is the selling point (more so since it's tied to the 40-series), then perhaps it might be worth it given the performance boost (best to wait for reviews of course).

MS Flight Sim now easily surpasses that 50-60fps "barrier" (even on the most powerful of systems) and into the 3-digit frame rate territory.

CP2077 performance boost with all that Ray Tracing glory is super sweet.

Again, best to wait for reviews. These slide decks always tend to inflate the actual performance.

So local pricing estimates...
4090 - $1599 ~ RM7300 = around RM8k
4080 16G - $1199 ~ RM5474 = around RM6k
4080 12G - $899 ~ RM4,100 = around RM4.5k

AIBs going to charge more as well.

4080 12G should have been named "4070" since the specs are cut down from the 4080 16G in not just the VRAM sweat.gif I don't want to say misleading but those who aren't tech savvy might opt for the $899 4080 thinking it's only VRAM difference.

We went from 3080 FE MSRP $699 to 4080 FE $1199 = 40% increase in price rclxub.gif

I never thought we would see xx80 series surpassing $999 MSRP so soon but here we are.

I'm guessing the only AIB that will be close to MSRP will be Colorful.

I think it's fairly obvious Nvidia shot themselves in the foot with the 3000 series. Again they are shooting themself in the foot with pricing the 4090 at USD 1.6K

Did they ever mention when the benchmark reviews will be out? Oct, before, or after?

Not sure about the NDA for the reviews.

QUOTE(KcX35 @ Sep 21 2022, 09:49 AM)
given that price point & performance, its more worth to get 4090 then 4080 at this point lol

My thoughts exactly. Funny that a $1599 GPU now has a "better value" than a $1199 & $899 GPU sweat.gif

And someone did a generation by generation price & performance comparison.

The 4080 12G = 4070 for $900 is rclxub.gif

Don't be afraid to buy Ampere btw.

DLSS 3 will work for Ampere (and also Turing) cards. Because DLSS 3 uses 3 subsets of technologies - frame generation+interpolation (only possible with the improved OFA on Ada), super resolution and reflex.

The latter 2 (super resolution and reflex) has been the backbone of DLSS since day 1 on Turing and will continue to be trained for the foreseeable future. So for Ampere and Turing cards, if you enable DLSS on a game where it uses DLSS3, you'll still get the benefit of the updates done to super resolution and reflex in the future (assuming the AI improves it continuously of course).

P.S The OFA in Ada is not new hardware btw, OFA is present all the way back to Turing but it has not been improved until now. So technically frame generation CAN run on Turing and Ampere cards, just that there's next to no performance gain.
Hate the way nvidia markets DLSS3 being exclusive to Ada as if it's like a big fuck you to Ampere owners.

You comment tallies with what I read on Reddit. Feels like Nvidia is up to their usual tricks, trying push DLSS 3 "for Ada only" (and they have a reason for that)

Wow, 4080 12G CANCELLED. biggrin.gif

I guess the backlash was too much. Looks like critics/consumers voice can be heard if loud enough.

Nice to see "Malaysia" on official Nvidia announcements:

Also, it's official but we already know it (4070 Ti):

And 4090 on the go (kinda):

I went from a 970 to a 1080 Ti to a 3090.

Currently super happy with my 3090 (I'm using an Alienware Aurora R12 - - wanted to sell it off April this year after 2 years of use but decided to keep the prebuild).

If more games support DLSS3 and Frame Gen, I will definitely consider the 4090 else I think I might skip 40-series entirely.

Having tried CP2077 on my 3090, quite surprised by how well it can run in RT Overdrive (DLSS Performance though). I thought it would really break the 30-series from the way Nvidia was marketing it, but that wasn't the case.

4080 Super expected to be a mere 3-5% faster than the 4080 but $200 less.

4070 Ti Super is allegedly on-par with a 4080 for $799 - - could potentially be the best-valued 40-series GPU (basically a ~$400 drop from a 4080).

Expect more WTS for 40-series and (possibly) price reduction across the non-Super series. tongue.gif

Why don't you link the articles, how are posting images of articles any helpful to those needing more context?

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Jan 7 2024, 12:07 PM)
Dont be too happy, based on some reviewers theory, those nonSupers close in performance ie 4070 TI & 4080 might be discontinued so those Supers effectively will take the slots & price point of current nonSupers. Any nonSupers remaining stocks might just be sold perhaps with slight discounts until stocks is cleared.
*
That's literally the point of my comment, and yes, we should be happy as this is the first time in a long time Nvidia has "dropped" the prices (Nvidia's "drop" - they would rather release a new series instead of dropping prices) and this is going to affect the entire 40-series line up for the foreseeable future.
