Clipless give 100% power transfer from all movement, easily exit if you crash over bar. Been jumping and flying on clipless pedal for 20 years, never had injury or accident related to clipless use. Just make sure to adjust clipless spring tension properly to fit your riding style. Any Shimano clipless SPD is a good start like "Shimano XT PD-M8020" model or "Shimano PD-M424 SPD" if you want more big flat platform with clipless in.

its the cleat & pedal that matters. crank brothers are not as interchangeable/compatible with other brands as much as shimano cleats; eg shimano cleat with wellgo pedals.

the release tension (on the pedals) can be adjusted to your likings, beginners would prefer the slightest tension to begin with.

when you're in low energy, instead of push (to move forward) but you can pull as well so that different muscles are being used.

I like the assurance of your feet will stick to the pedal during riding especially during dh or bumpy trails; eg flinstones / rock garden.

I dislike the part where your cleat/pedal is clogged with mud/soil; it make it harder to click. I'm using Shimano's PDM520 and it has been abused quite badly but still working fine. I bought them about a couple of years ago.

Flats for life!

Clips scare me. Don't go so fast or far to need more power from the pedals. smile.gif

Are you new to mtb? If yes, neither. Get a 2nd hand bike to try first before investing in better stuff.

If no, go for a better frame. The difference between good and bad frames is huge.

You can tell between cheap and midrange groupset. Not so much between midrange and expensive groupset. Expensive groupset are just usually a lot lighter, with very subtle difference in feel.

Bike park jumps = dirt jump bike
Trail jumps = hardtail bike because its more versatile

anyone intrested in buying a polygon-collosus-t8, full sus mtb? Bought it 2 years ago for 15k at bangsar roadlink but never really used it. Upsized my front rotor, and some fancy branded pedals that i now forgot what brand is it.

willing to let it go for half price, COD only, putra/cyber or basically anywhere within 50km of KL

http://reviews.mtbr.com/review-polygon-col...lygon-t8-studio

ps- selling as i've upgraded to a superbike. yes, like a motorcycle bike.
