Welcome to the Mountain Bike thread

Riding Habits for All Times

* Never take shortcuts or cut corners on tight turns or switch backs.
* Ride only on existing trails, don't make new ones, including "turn-outs" around fallen logs.
* Respect private property. Treat the trail like the valuable treasure that it is.
* It's all about respect. Same goes for other trail users - respect them and they'll return the favor.
* Never litter. Try to pack out more than you bring in.
* Learn to fix a flat, repair a chain, etc. and carry tools that you will need to get yourself out of the woods.
* Wear a helmet.
* Ride softly. Dirt holds a special place in the heart of mountain bikers, so be kind to it. Don't skid; adjust your braking to the soil and terrain.

Depends on your budget really. New or 2nd hand? How much you want to spend?

4k is quite tough to get a new full-sus, but maybe possible for 2nd hand. Search www.bicyclebuysell.com to look look for deals. Can also join FB groups like MTB Malaysia to search too.

For around 4k to 6k, you can look for brands like KHS, Lapierre, Polygon, Marin, Commencal, norco, etc for new or old bikes.

Errmmm, even without seeing the bike, its gonna be shit at that price. Stay away. Better you top up a bit for a good hardtail. A hardtail is actually better if you are new to MTB. Buy it and go try different trails apart from Kiara. Not everyone will like Kiara.

If you find out that you prefer more chill, flat trail then a good lightweight XC bike is better. If you like technical, rock gardens, steep stuff like Kiara then buy a full sus.
