For budget mkb nothing can beat Tecware Phantom. Solid all around build, with true adjustable rgb through software(not 7 colours only).

Hi, how is ikbc c104 compare with Tecware Phantom ?

I see the price is quite close (Ultimate.Zone is having promo for ikbc at RM249, Tecware Phantom seems to be like RM219?)

I have seen ppl strongly recommend either of these as beginner mkb

ikbc la. coming from a corsair mkb, i switch to ikbc. despite corsair price nearly 2x price of the ikbc, the built and material used in ikbc is considerably better. forget about tecware. same shit as those armageddon, ajazz tier

Hi to all the members over here. I wanna get the COOLER MASTER CK550 mechanical keyboard, but most the shops were out of stock. Can anyone over here advise me where to buy it? (please advise some safe purchase). I had gone to Lazada but i didnt see any comments over there so i'm not dare to buy it. I can go to the shop for cash and carry, which i really prefer to do so. So any place to buy the COOLER MASTER CK550? Low Yat Plaza has it? Or any other shops? Kindly advise. Thank you so much

Maybe maybe new mech k/b buyer want to use it for gaming, and for these people RGB seems to be the obvious thing to consider other than "RED/BLUE/BROWN". Other things like switch type and cap type isn't important for them. Tecware seems to make the stuff they want at the right price now.

I think beginner should actually buy cheap stuff, so they could learn from there. My first mechanical keyboard is Ajazz, when i came to soldering then only i realized Kailh, Gateron, Cherry switches are the key of the mechanical keyboard. Which you could easily get it from the market. Now i am getting another mech keyboard, with gateron switches. : biggrin.gif rclxms.gif

I personally thinks the RGB is totally pointless, which doesn't affect your gaming performance. May be the leds' lights could motivate him? biggrin.gif

RGB is good for forgetful people like me. I color code those shortcut keys for app and games.

So I ended up splurging for a Logitech keyboard with Romer-G switch even if they're reported to be "mushy, same as rubber dome" and no future for custom cap. Not a mech k/b enthusiast here.

budget friendly wireless mechanical keyboard with pbt keycaps? Introducing the iKBC CD108 BT
QUOTE
iKBC brings out their first wireless keyboard with the budget-friendly CD108 BT that supports Bluetooth in addition to wired operation. Add-on features include removable batteries, PBT keycaps, and extensive on-board functionality, that makes this a modern option for a wireless keyboard in 2018.

it's nice to customize your keycap colors without needing to constantly replace them actually when you have RGB biggrin.gif

Okay. I think i am still newbie. I didn't even know how to customize the led's light for the key. I only know some general functions like when we press it it will have the light with different pattern. biggrin.gif

Coming from ducky (zero, shine), cm storm (rapid i, quickfire tk), poseidon z, tesoro excalibur. I must say the build is solid (I cant bend it if I want to) and comparable to mkb I used before +outemu brown is just as delightful as cherry's brown ( can't say anything about mx blue as I havent use those before). I disassembled tecware phantom before and the soldering on the pcb is decent. If I really have to nitpick about it just the thin doubleshot keycaps, shoddy legend, and non removable cable really.
Still, ikbc is decent but I wont touch it as it is quite similar to my ducky as to say . . . bad.

yea it depends on the controller's capability. but if they can do different pattern, they surely can do a static color biggrin.gif

ofc IMO it will never be as good as having the actual keycap itself in the particular color biggrin.gif

i'm very curious about the parts that you described as 'bad' about ikbc boards. please share with us more.

imo at the price point of 200+ myr, ikbc c-series is relatively better choice of value for money, compared to other prebuilts.

You can get from Lazada, I believe that is the only place will sell.
For seller that involved with CM, already stop selling their keyboard, because making loss chance is high.
Seller get the cost of keyboard, still lower than what Lazada sell, totally no points.

Truth is hurts, just don't think this keyboard have good selling until no stocks.
This keyboard don't have any push from the community, it's DESTINED a failed product.

Well do I hate it? Yes, because the board can't even sell, then throw to reviewers and free gift to gamers to push. Trash!

Tecware Phantom (full 104 keys) can be bought for less than RM219. If you have the budget, the iKBC is definitely a worthy buy. While the Tecware Phantom is cheaper and might seemed to be dissed upon by some people, with some minor tweaks, it can be quite a decent keyboard. Tweaks including lubing the switches (only for the brown and red models, that's the wonders of a "modular" board where you can remove the switches without any soldering/desoldering required), clipping and lubing the stabilisers (for less noise as well as less mushy feeling stabilised keys) and also adding some foam into the casing to make the keyboard sound less hollow when typing.

Basically:
- Lube switches
- Clip, lube and band aid stabilisers
- Adding foam to casing

Budgeting around RM20-50 depending on what kind of lube you use.

I have exactly that, a "ghetto modded" Tecware Phantom I bought as scrap to use in the office.

Hello guys, I'm planning to purchase my first set of TKL primarily for office use. Any strong recommendations for a budget of say 500? I would prefer something with a backlight, not necessarily RGB, and a detachable USB cord.

In terms of switch selection, I'm interested in trying those MX Clear switches. FYI, I have a board with Kailh blue at home and those may be too clicky for the office environment.

For the time being, I've came up with a shortlist as follows:

- GMMK TKL (unable to get a quote for shipping on their website for some reason)
- Cherry Ducky One 2 with white backlights (doesn't seem to be on the market yet?)
- Varmilo VA87M (EDIT: 25USD for shipping, will have to opt for brown switches in this case)
- iKBC F87 (recommended by some, but not by others. Not sure what's the issue.)
- KPRepublic Durgod K320 (Black sheep of the bunch, but seemed to be gaining quite the traction on Massdrop)

Or any other strong contenders you guys might be able to suggest? Would definitely prefer something with a better build quality for long term use.

Cheers!

my suggestions based on the list are varmilo, durgod, or ikbc. (i don't have gmmk, and i think you meant ducky one 2) durgod is a new brand, but the overall build quality is relatively decent compared to most prebuilts in the market. (like varmilo, durgod boards' space bar and mods are fine-tuned)

for detachable cables, varmilo and durgod have it. ikbc f87's cable is fixed. however varmilo's leds are on the south of switches, single colored.

f87, depending on your luck, sometimes has under-optimized space bar (mods are ok). it's an easy fix with dielectric grease, imo it's still good.

since you want mx clears, you might need to source harder.

note that when i choose a prebuilt, i always try out the space bar and modifiers first. (all large keys). a good prebuilt doesn't have rattling stabilizers, which make a lot of noise when you type.
