oh you're looking for full-size. i thought you're looking for tkl, which is like 599rmb for base models

personally i prefer varmilo to ducky because of varmilo's much better stabilizer optimizations for modifiers and space bar. no, it's not about modding, but for you to have a relatively better oem board.
*
Ah good info, I have to google what stabilizer is lol.

So one board leads to another, saw another model IKBC C104, which has the most review/sale among the 3: Akko-Ducky, Varmilo and IKBC. It's also the lowest priced at RMB549. Do you or anyone has experience with this keeb?

Can I rank them like this: Varmilo > Akko-Ducky > IKBC

Want to make sure I'm getting value for my money before dipping in. Thanks for feedback.

Hi, this will be my first mechanical keyboard purchase.

Does the Tecware Phantom Elite come in TKL format?

Checking prices online, trying to decide what's the better value:
1. TKL Phantom - RM 169
2. Full Size Phantom Elite - RM 169 (board) + RM 75 (Gateron switches)

Do you think the Gateron switches are worth the cost? I've never tried a TKL format, willing to give it a shot.

Appreciate any feedback!

like horns said, TKL is just minus numpad.

it really depends on ur usage. if u do a lot of number(maybe accounting, data sheets, or anything that need to key in a lot of numbers), yes it is needed.
but if u dont(like me), so no i dont miss it much.

and TKL is also more ergonomic.

the choice is yours bradah ! rclxub.gif

edited : if u play games that needed numpad, u need it too. fortunately, i dont. so TKL is best for me.

yes, i meant to say tecware phantom elite tkl haha

in terms of form factors, including key layouts, just get what suits your usage the most. mine have changed over time. initially it's full-sized; then tkl; now they are 64-key 60% with all parts that i like.

I exclusively use KBD4X now. In fact, I stopped using my other keyboards altogether.

Ortho + 40% + QMK = Endgame (?)

Anyway attached is a picture of KBD4X × Kailh Box Red × DSA Alchemy and FC660C × 9009.

the smallest form factor for me is 64-key 60%. with dedicated arrow keys hehe

there will be no end-game for me. i like all my 60% (each with different combos of switches, plates/plateless, cases, stabilizers, modifications, and lube techniques, etc.)

nice, lucky you, always wanted a proper planck, but kinda blew budget on other things. i am playing around with the encoder stuff on my qmk promicro breadboard. i like how it still emulates keystrokes instead of going full analogue.

Well the preonic is on massdrop now. How are you liking the encoder? I'm still deciding if it's worth going through all that hassle haha

after playing with many switches from common brands, this lubed cherry mx red with black housings remains as my all-time favorite.

Attached Image

as always, it works even better lubed. for me, a better lube combo is to use thin lube for stems and housings (top and bottom), and thick lube for springs. this brings down spring noise, and at the same time preserves that sharp and hard typing feel/sound of a normal linear when bottoming out.

no, there is no news about tecware phantom elite yet

the price for gateron switches is ok. however, if you want, you can also find other options at taobao (e.g. for linear switches, there are gat yellow and black)

tkl is just a full-size minus keypad in general.

I went ahead and got myself the normal Phantom TKL in brown switches. It's louder than I expected but loving the feel. Thanks!

oh. if possible, you should lube these outemu brown. they will be much better after that (also, lube the stabs as well)

you should have gotten phantom elite. it supports more switch choices.

lol

at the very least switch and stabilizer lubing plus putting sound dampening stuff between case and pcb should be good enough. they're practical and not costly haha

to feel the before-and-after changes, simply type for few weeks to get to know the scratchiness of switches, the noise, etc. then lube them up.

although this require some work, i will still do it. always lol
