Nope, the restaurant I frequented isn't in the list of merchant eligible for 50% cashback.

Anyway, Boost did reply my inquiry; the RM5 cashback came from me transferring RM70 into my Boost wallet. However, I don't see any ongoing promotion for this so I shot them another follow-up question. Been 2 hours without reply & at this point, I'm starting to sound silly for asking the reason why I'm given cashback. biggrin.gif

Boost cs be like "Ek eleh...dah bagi duit percuma masih nak tanya banyak2". biggrin.gif

If only they collab with 7e and 99 speedmart, hope it won't be long to wait.

Just received their reply when I asked if the RM5 comes from an ongoing promotion:

"This is an on-going retention program and might be missed out to communicate to your Boost account."

Seems like they're not very willing to let me know in detail how the cashback works. Damn, I was thinking of abusing maximizing my cashback value.
*
Not sure if my case is related or not...I remember when I first started using Boost, I reloaded RM 30 to my Boost wallet for the first time, and then I got RM 3 in return, and it showed 'Boost Wallet Bonus' instead of 'Cashback'.

Want to ask, I rmb I saw somewhere about top up boost wallet to enjoy shake rewards, today I top up my boost wallet RM100, no shake rewards

Then I pay with boost at Nando’s, no shake rewards also.. what’s wrong ya?
*
AFAIK, shake reward is only available after you made your transaction.

Try contacting Boost regarding the Nando's issue.

random kk supermart near pasar seni.
but i saw he scan, the registry even show payment go through hence the receipt auto printed out.
*
There's a possibility that the cashier enabled Mcash instead of Boost for you to scan, and then what the receipt showed was an error or something, not sure if it's possible though.

But the important thing is, what did your app show after you scanned your code? Did it show the "Success" thing as usual?

but 711 has own e-wallet (Razerpay) liao, i think they sure wan to sustain this advantage atm
*
They can't, because not much people are using it, cuz they done so many wrong things from the start.

Just like KK with Mcash, no one uses it, and now they collab with Boost.

QUOTE(unknown_2 @ Jul 25 2018, 05:38 PM)
i was trying the app for the first time.

there is no success msg on my phone.
but i did saw on his registry that the payment gone through hence proper receipt printed out.
*
You're in luck then, depends on you if you wanna inform Boost or not. brows.gif

How to scan and pay?
*
There are two types of payment method, using which type will depend on the merchant, it will be either one of these two.

1. Scanning merchant's QR code - If you see a QR code sign on the cashier counter, just tap "Scan and Pay" > scan the QR code > enter the amount you need to pay > enter your pin > transaction done

2. Merchant scanning your QR code - When the merchant asks to scan your code, show them the code by tapping "Scan Me" > enter your pin > let merchant scan your code > transaction done

I'm at KK. The cashier scanned my QR code.
He don't have merchant QR code for me to scan.
*
Yes, that's the second one.

It depends on which method that the merchant uses, it will be only either one of them.

For example, some merchants like KK uses the second one while some like pasar malam stalls and food trucks use the first one.

QUOTE(MGM @ Jul 25 2018, 10:36 PM)

If the merchant scans your code, the merchant will key in the amount you need to pay on their system first, and then you only need to scan.

Unless the merchant uses the first method which is requiring you to scan their code, you have to enter the amount.

I only use it for the 50%
I always ask upfront if Boost can be used. Don't assume that it can be used even if there's a sticker in front that says they accept Boost, they might give reasons like system is down etc
if possible, and you know exactly what you want, ask to pay as soon as they placed the order, so that if any problem arises you can walk away since food is probably not served yet

*
That is true, there was once that I went to a convenience store (small one near Starhill Gallery), and I saw there were few e wallet stickers outside the store (Boost, Mcash, Kiplepay), went inside and grabbed a bottle of mineral water to the cashier and then I said I want to pay with Boost, suddenly the cashier said "system down". Could've ranted to him that if still can't use it yet then don't stick it outside and just walk away, but no point lah, since it was just a bottle of water for a buck, no big deal then. But that was a lesson to be learnt, also won't be buying from that store anymore, can just walk to KK which is just few stores away.

QUOTE(jokerneverdie @ Jul 26 2018, 10:09 AM)
you are right though , the free money from razerpay still in my wallet, but diff story is 711 and Razerpay serving same parent company
*
I get that both are from Berjaya Group, but if they really do that, that kinda sounds like monopoly don't you think? If that's the case, then it's better for people to not even use Razer Pay. You can't force people to only use your one and only e wallet, that just ruin the purpose of using e wallet which is convenience and consumer's preference.

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jul 26 2018, 10:10 AM)
IMHO, it appears that Fave & Boost are leading the Malaysian market at the moment but with WeChat Pay just around the corner, I think this is anyone's game.
*
Wechat Pay isn't around the corner, they basically disappeared. They kept delaying their official launch from June to July and then now to September, and it wasn't even Wechat team themselves who said that, it was the agents instead. The hype is already gone for Wechat Pay, I rather support the local ones like Boost and Fave cuz they're really aggressive in their expansion.

All the better since I'm not a fan of WeChat. Currently I have Fave, Boost, MPUPU & Touch n' Go in my phone & I foresee there will be more coming especially with BNM encouraging more fintech to be setup.
*
How's MPUPU? I only saw it at Chicking's, didn't know it's an e wallet.

We already have too much e wallets around here, no point for us consumers to install like 10 of them just to use at different merchants, don't forget that we also have to provide our personal details (for withdrawal purposes) due to BNM regulations, but I don't think it's a good idea to give out our details to many e wallets lol.

My highest shake so far in % is RM1 reward for paying Tealive RM1.45. 69% reward. On top of that I later got 73 sen cashback from the 50% promo. Total received RM1.73 for a payment of RM1.45. Not quite sure how that happened but ain't complaining.
user posted image

Today got RM3 shake at KK for RM23. My highest so far in $ value.

Once I got before 0 sen. Dunno how that happened. I see if I can find a screenshot for that. Been meaning to contact Boost about that.
*
You mean RM 0? If I remember correctly, I got that like 2 times, a bummer indeed.

Basically means we don't get money from shake reward every time, don't see a problem with that.

Yeah RM0. So far once for me. 5 sen at least twice. If I were Boost, I'd make sure that it's never 0, even 5 sen is ok. I think some people might get triggered if they get 0.
*
I gotta admit that I did get a bit triggered after getting nothing in return from it lol, but it's okay, I'm a huge fan of going cashless/e wallets so it's not a big deal for me.

QUOTE(talexeh @ Jul 26 2018, 05:13 PM)
I wonder what's next for Celcom. Their 11st used to be pretty popular but has been lagging way behind Shopee or Lazada recently. Now that they've come up with Boost, I hope it'll not end up on the same path.
*
11st was popular back then because it was new and they were advertising it aggressively, but that time Lazada was leading the e-commerce market right? Lazada has always been the leader, from back then until now.

But I'm kinda worried about how Boost is gonna perform in the long run, I think cashback is the main attraction and also the reason that helped them get to this position as the leader of e wallet here, and now the 50% cashback promotion is gonna end very soon, they have to come up with something more attractive to get more people join the platform, and it's better for them to retain that shake reward because at least it's still something. Maybe they can be like Favepay, giving out cashbacks after every transactions, I believe they have more than enough of ability to do similar thing because they (as in Axiata/Celcom) is a big company, they have nothing much to lose.

Also don't forget that majority are still not convinced in going for cashless solution, cash is still king. They also gotta do something to attract these group of people into going cashless, but it's not easy because many people who are heavily reliant on cash are very stubborn and it's hard to convince them to even pay for something using their debit card paywave.

Smaller e wallets are more likely to be phased out in the future due to the culture of our society, and also because they're not as aggressive as Boost and Favepay.

Boost just partnered with UnionPay

https://themalaysianreserve.com/2018/07/26/...-for-expansion/

We might see Boost accepted in other countries in the future.

Which one the best in terms of coverage so far? Boost, Maybank or Samsung Pay?
*
They're different lol, Boost and Maybank QR are e wallets while Samsung Pay is mobile payment.

If you really wanna compare between these three, then of course Samsung Pay has the widest coverage because it works on most card terminals, and Maybank QR is the worst.

Speaking of Favepay, Android users are waiting for fingerprint authentication, even pin authentication isn't available for us yet. iOS users lucky lah to have Touch ID supported on Favepay.
