With Xiaomi to have so much at stake on its reputation, international market, lawsuits, etc I would give the benefit of doubt and trust more on xiaomi than some youtuber. If it come from say androidauthority, dpreview or some reputable source that made test/experiment report claim then sure got further follow-up. Just some youtuber....hard to swallow

yup, that's why I requested to see which channel just for curiosity laugh.gif

Biggest battery for a sd636 phone so far? Most likely won't beat RN5 camera, due to much smaller sensor , no dual pd, no mention of EIS even. But if your main priority is battery, then it is 'the' phone for you.

Yeah...camera wise will lose to RN5 as RN5 is using smaller sensor however other specs it might beat RN5,,

Below will be prices in IDR which is quite competitive indeed.. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

3GB/32GB - IDR 3.299.000   [approx..MYR 921.25]
4GB/64GB - IDR 2.799.000   [approx..MYR 781.48]
6GB/64GB - IDR 2.299.000   [approx..MYR 641.88]

Yup, big battery, dedicated sdcard slot, pure android, better speaker. Good pricing from Asus this time.

Got budget phone less than 1k with eis n sd 636?🤔

Got Xiaomi lor, it went as low as RM800 on Aliexpress for the 4GB variant. If 3GB variant, it's even cheaper.

yep. asus counter their plan. 5k battery, 16mp, 6gb ram with pure android. after convert to myr still below 1k.

Remember both indonesian price on RN5 and Zenfone will always be cheaper than Malaysia. Why? Both these phones are assembled in Indonesia.

Plus the zenfone camera is not as good as RN5. Getting this phone for someone who likes to take videos...

Don't have the colour I want.

I noticed they put Sony primary sensor, so it's the IMX363 instead of the Samsung sensor.

Checkout this page https://www.chinahandys.net/en/xiaomi-redmi-note-5-review/

Don't know how accurate is it. primary lens is f2.2 and it supports band 20 as well. And screen with better contrast it seems.

I don't think that review report on global set has different spec from china's version. At least not on the camera sensor. Look at the below site with the picture of camera spec for malaysian launching of RN5. In clearly stated the sensors spec. If they really swap the sensor to the more inferior one as in the report, then really can't trust xiaomi anymore.

But don't think xiaomi that stupid to shoot own foot, when it clearly state the spec during launching. Moral of the story, internet is full of 'fake news' or at least wrong info.   doh.gif  rclxub.gif

yup... that's why I'm still skeptical when I posted that link. The biggest problem here is, the official store on Lazada are posting the wrong info(or it isn't?) on their sale page adding more to the confusion. sweat.gif

any particular reason why u guys dont wait for mi a2 instead?
*
Low battery capacity, SD636 is good enough because the phone won't be used for heavy gaming, and I need this phone by mid-May that can take good videos at this price point.

Is it? I read a review from China today. Comparison was done. The result is Mi6X aka Mi A2 camera performance is better than Redmi Note 5. According to the reviewer, Mi6X camera performance level is somewhere between Redmi Note 5 & Mi Mix 2S.
*
Daylight and good lighting shots, the RN5 probably have a slight edge. The cameras on the Mi6X are independent, when under low light conditions it will switch to the IMX376 employing the 4-1 pixel binning technique which yields quite a good result it seems.

yup

How also Redmi Note 5 AI still suffers from low light pic captures. Grainy.
*
Have you tried to install another camera app that allows you to set it manually?
