Is it faulty or due to firmware version? Have you tried reset the phone? Mine is still working very well. I didn't update the firmware for quite some time. I think it is a few version backdated.

Not sure, i've always updated to beta MIUI 9 weekly basis. but last update then my gps unusable. Also recently i've changed my sim card from xox to umobile. So not sure what's the cause of it. I've reset my phone and it's still the same.

Not entirely U Mobile "fault" because I have a Redmi 3 Pro, on U Mobile , MIUI 8, GPS running fine. We see other telco also same like Digi.

News said China's version (which will be brought into Malaysia market soon) will have different camera spec compared to India's version. Not sure it's better spec or weaker spec.

Who care about GSMarena's news while they always copied other sources without any verification.

When we talk about Xiaomi news, always refer to Xiaomi official weibo (twitter in China). It represents Xiaomi official, so their announcement is the most accurate one.

In Xiaomi official weibo, they posted a poll and asked the people to vote which part of phone spec they wish to have surprise. The result is not important. The one we should concern about is the hint that given by the Xiaomi official. Apparently, Xiaomi official voted the camera. Indirectly telling us that there's a surprise on the camera performance of the upcoming Redmi Note 5 Pro China version.

If you ask me which one to believe, of course I will always trust their official twitter.

Yes, indeed, surprsingly it worked in Bangkok for my csse, so this can mean the telco networks here do not works with Xiaomi / Redmi series well ? Telco engineering expert may have the answer lol

For many random cases, Xiaomi and Redmi series GPS works properly initially, but after a while or some time later, erratic behaviour come.

Asus released specs for their ZF 5 models. The mid range model has similar specs to the RN5 pro with the Snapdragon 636, OIS but it seems to be alot lighter at 155g vs 180g
