i've got a question.normally how many rejected offers would there be available during the next round of offers..can anyone give me an estimate?would it be a small number lie normally?

memorising all the bones and muscles in semester 1 is bound to make yourself crazy.

just read up the basic biochemistry first, e.g. proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates, lipids etc etc. Other stuff will come later.

Semester 1 just read marieb and the notes will be sufficient. Notes are damn important in terms of answering MCQ questions. Further reading will benefit you in MEQ (semester 3 onwards) and a little in OSPE.

okay guys am a bit fuzzy about what you take in year one of MBBS programme (am august 09 intake)...i

1)s there a list of the subjects we'll be studying i can get off the interent? or if you're kind enof would u email it to me?(herbalife_malaysia@yahoo.com) ....
2)are there any specifc topics u recommend me to read prior to entry(like the ... name of bones?)

i think one day i'll just blank out. eversince i got the offer into he pms programme i can't get no sleep....i think am excessively anxious cuz there's so much i dunno bout IMU, especially for my being a foreigner(egyptian) i doubt i'll ever get accustomed to the enviroment...urgh that's just me being overly pessimistic...i think am havin some sort of manic depression(am no emo btw:)

1. semester 1 you'll be doing anatomy and physiology
semester 2 will be microbiology, immunology, pathology and parasitology

oh yea, there's also behavioral science and community medicine

2. hehe..new students are always super enthusiastic even before entering imu
but the most important thing you have to do now is enjoy your remaining months of freedom
you can read marieb if you like, but take it as leisure reading, there's not much in terms of prior knowledge that you should know. Everything will be covered in lectures anyway. No point stressing yourself even before you start the course.
Name of bones and muscles is not needed at this stage, you'll learn a few in semester 1, but the major bulk of it will only be covered in semester 5's musculoskeletal system.

So chill! Find yourself a good accommodation and make some friends in the meantime. Malaysians are very friendly once you have friends here, getting accustomed to the environment is not hard.

And the manic depression phase can definitely wait til you had your first end of semester exam

Hey, I have an A level grade of ABC and i have applied for IMU medicine 2nd intake in August. So far i haven heard any reply from them. So wad r my chances of being accepted?

make sure you hassle them for your results...call up every now and again, show up at the offfice ....

Community somin Project =) i think

Community Orientated Project.

It's a group project, something like community service, just that you have to do something health-related.
Eg give a health talk in a school, teach kindergarten kids about hygiene, visit a Down syndrome centre......something simple will do actually.
Three weeks is given but you'll probably finish it in a day or two.
The report you have to write after that is a nuisance though
But there's a 3% weightage allocated in your end of semester grade, so yea, might as well do a proper job out of it.

I had a friend who didn't receive an offer. She called and enquired many times and they say she was on the waiting list. Eventually she got an offer.

Yep I'm from STPM. Lol, I nearly thought I have to memorize all the muscle and bones on first semester like my father who do it in the 70's.

I try to look for marieb after reading my Biology STPM books. I kinda have fun reading back biology after almost 5 month without even glancing any education books. Somehow I feel like a social outcast now by living in my house 24/7.....

Sem 2 going on sem 3.

how's the format of exam in sem4 like?

how can you possibly survive without past pampers? =S that's antimidating don think i woulda passed my A-levels without pp's..:S

Because there's just no past year papers in the first place?
Although there are mock papers available..but after doing it and then going for the exam, I don't feel like the mock paper really helped that much

MEQ EMQ 60 OBA and 3 OSPE
not sure how many questions of MEQ and EMQ though
