Nasi lemak is constituted from rice, sambal, ikan bilis, etc. each component should be excellent by itself for the whole combination to be excellent.
For reasons, cheap ingredients and poorly prepared dish need chilli sauce, gravy, spicy sauce or tomato ketchup.
Not sure the point you are making here. I am aware of the fact that every ingredient needs to be good as it's a combination as a whole, so that the dish will come up good. The point I am making here is the type of rice, that is Beras Wangi vs Beras normal. I'm not saying to use cheap or lousy rice with Beras normal but the point is the normal rice is cheaper than Beras Wangi. Beras Wangi has many types and brands, and some Beras Wangi tastes like Beras normal without the fragrance and stickiness of Beras Wangi.
For Nasi Lemak, the rice cannot be too sticky and that's the reason why Beras Wangi is not suitable. Most brands of Beras Wangi is sticky, almost like glutinous rice. The rice is not separated individually. But for some Beras Wangi, it is not so sticky and separated, so it's almost the same as the normal rice although it is claimed to be Beras Wangi with higher price.
Back to the point - i think you have mistaken my post in assuming that using cheap ingredients to make Nasi lemak. I am only talking about the rice and not the ingredients. Although I am only focusing on the rice, I am comparing between Beras Wangi and the normal rice, not cheap vs expensive. It's a known fact that normal rice is cheaper than Beras Wangi but that does not suggest that using the normal rice is using cheap ingredients.
