Love #5 and #13. Nice macro and silhouette
I always wondered about those shots on insects, do you actually go near to them or zoom in on them? This post has been edited by sojen: May 3 2007, 09:47 PM |

That spider was at quite a distance from me, so that shot was taken at full zoom of 12x or 432mm (35mm equivalent).
No cropping is done. |

QUOTE(vichio @ May 3 2007, 11:50 PM) The moon was shot at 12x zoom. Max aperture. Spot metering on the moon. I was told that I'm missing a lot of detail and the shot can be better. However I'm not told that what can been done to improve that other than investing in astronomers equipment. The sunrise was also shot at max aperture. Segment evaluation metering. My cam refused to focus on the sun, so focus and metering was done on the cloud next to it. I did a bracket of 3 shots with +/- 1EV, and select the one with exposure I like most. I've selected the 0EV for these shots. |

And it appears that u used f /3.5 with shutter speed is 1/400s ? Although i agree that can not shot like this at that aperture ? i tried many times to take pic of the moon, i used f8, iso 200, but never get as sharp and detail as your pic. So maybe the problem is metering ? Can u tell me what's different between 2 ? |

I've been wondering around the boat before taking quite a few shots, only this one was selected.QUOTE(vichio @ May 5 2007, 11:47 PM) yep,u're rite When I shot the moon, I use aperture priority, and I never thought it's so bright and shutter speed was increased to 1/400. but i don't know why, after save ur photo of the moon to my computer, i use exif reader of ACD SEE to read your photo exif. I think your problem might be focusing. Try set it to manual and have it at infinity since the moon is definitely far enough. I'm not sure you want to use f8, since it's kinda small, but you can always try out a few aperture setting and select the one come out the best. Another thing to take note is the environment you shot your moon from. Have some place with least light polution. I took mine at a dark beach. You may want to try it from the jungle |

I think f/8 is a must cause can take sharp picture, when i try f /3.5 it's not clear and sharp. uhm, but how about the different between 2 metering ? |

You mean metering type? thank you very much although i alway use Manual mode. I think f/8 is a must cause can take sharp picture, when i try f /3.5 it's not clear and sharp. uhm, but how about the different between 2 metering ? Spot: 1% at the center of the frame Center weight: 10% at the center of the frame Segment evaluation: Average metering on few segments on the frame Since you want a correct exposure on the moon, so your metering shall be on the moon, spot will be most suitable. Besides, even at 12x zoom, the moon is still so small. |

Maybe the photo theme shows a little about energy saving when comparing 1 light to 3 bulbs... but doesnt really show save the environment. Is that whatyou were looking for?
Perhaps you can find another type of object that also illustrates energy saving and put in a background that shows the environment(e.g. nature) |
