strider is good for medium range or low range rigs, but if u do plan to extend your gc slots and more, i would recommend you to play with what clawy suggested. Strider cant handle so much load as it is only a 400Watts unit.

Can,just not recommend.I think strider 560W is a good choice for mid end rig.

Good enough for most of the system but the price premium is not really huge,like RM60 and is more future proof.

hi

my first post?

umm.. boleh kata saya noob la.. I have NULL experience in building my own PC. only what i dream to do. I have followed tech news since 13yrs old(now 16+). I've seen alot. Read alot. Currently, if i wanna build a budget PC, I know

i wish for 8200. but intel 2140 is nice. ;
I wish for a HD3870. But HD3850 good enough la. Would HD3650 be best performance/price ratio? then i want that ;
for PSU, i have no target. I have no idea;

Look at my current home PC:

OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Proc: Pentium D 925 3.0
Ram: kingston 1024MB
PSU: dunno what brand. 450W
Graphics: HIS X1050 512MB

and some other things i know:
A4 Tech Super Slim Keyboard
A4Tech mouse
BenQ T705 monitor
defect Tsunami Shadow Series XX-117AA Twin Speakers with Subwoofer

Ok, now for my question. Please just recommend a PSU for my dream great budget PC. Do i need 500W for 3850?

Some forumers state even 460W already sufficient for this card.But make sure it is true power.
Anyway,Enermax FMA 2 460w or Silverstone ST50F migh be a good choice for you. smile.gif

no, but instead look for the total rated 12v amp...
for example, odin pro 550w has 4x18A 12v rails, but the total combined 12v ampere rating is 42A same goes to st56f which has 20A and 21A 12v rails and the total combined 12v ampere rating is 41A.. those rating should be listed in the psu spec.. if not they'll just give u the rated 12v power which is in watts.. to convert it to ampere just use this -> 12Vpower(watt)/12 then ull get the combined 12v current tongue.gif

hmm, what you want from your dream PC ?
gaming? or graphic designing? or video rendering?
or ALL OF THE ABOVE ???

if you wants all... i think you better dont get a E2140, it is surely not good enough.
it might last you for 6 month and you will definitely want to change to a better ones.

at lease get a E4xxx series
and a XFX GeForce 8600GT cheaper than the HD3850 but perform as fast as it...
Corsair XMS2 Twin 2x 2048-6400C5 DHX shall do the trick... it only cost approx RM200
as of for the PSU, get a Cooler Master Real Power 450W if you are not planning to SLi or crossfire...

i'm also very concern about the "performance over price over durability ratio"
thats why i'm getting a
GA-EP35-DS3
C2D E8200
XMS2 Twin 2x DHX
Winfast 8600GT
Cooler Master Extreme Power 450W
total cost RM1800 (quite cheap le)

all item are able to last me for 4 years or maybe even more...

budget ma... corsair is good enough... others just over my budget
E2140 is not enough for him to last for a year... get a E4xxx series instead

i use a E8200 coz i'm multitasking... doing some video rendering, graphic designing and stuffs...

i built my PC to last long, for approx 4 to 5 years at lease
