For Estima ACR50 based on experience:-

The Good:

1) More stable than Vellfire/Alphard (2008-2014) on Highway.
2) Nicer to drive on highway as compared with VF or Alphard (2008-2014)
3) 3rd seats row can be folded down below Floor Space Saving. Previous ACR30 is fixed .
4) Plenty of spare parts available and reasonably priced.
5) Maintenance is similar to toyota Camry pricing. Usually Engine Oil, Filter, etc

The Bad:

1) 2 Airbags Only.
2) Steering Rack . If change new Toyota Original may set u back approx RM1800. Half Cut RM800. But problems will persist similar to Vellfire 2008-2014. Toyota Harrier similar problem. U can get mechanics to modify the Steering coupling but driving characteristics and turning radius bad.
3) V6 Engine problems with SparkPlugs issues
4) Gearbox for V6 overheats very commonly. Use Hayden Transmission Oil Coolers. Approx RM700+ . Really cools down the gearbox both 2.4 and 3.5
5) Side Mirror motor needs replacements usually after 5 yrs.
6) Engine oil evaporates quite fast.
7) If you have moonroof, leaking problem very common.
8) 3rd row seats not so comfy coz its not so Cushy to save space for folding down purpose.

Hope this info helps.

price different about 60k but interest sure higher for 2010 2nd hand...

Wow, lot of info here.. thank bro..
It was one of my choices too last time back to 2016, but then decided to go with smaller MPV Toyota Sienta..
If i really take estima that time, i surely can't afford the maintenance and spare parts replacement

Other than cosmetic changes and some new features, both are the same, but older one may require several parts to be replaced.

Using 2009 recond ACR55, bought in 2014.

Normal service = 250-300, service every 6 months (Using Mobil 1)
Denso Iridium Spark plug = 220, change every 100K km
Toyota TC CVT oil = 160, change every 80K km
Toyota Front brake pad = 280
Toyota Rear brake pad = 240
TRW front brake disk in 2019 = 280
Toyota belting = 150
OEM Battery = 300, but now using battery charger hope can last at least 3 years.

Big repair;

4WD transfer case leak in 2019 = 1200
Aircond cooling coil leak in 2019 = 1200, change brand new Denso
Tyre Michelin Primacy 3ST = 2000, every 3 years

Next is to change all door rubber seals. Noise insulation getting worse.

Happy with the handling. But maybe need to change to Vellfire as my kids is getting taller lol.

My ACR50, 2.4cc, has high fuel consumption problem.
for current fuel price, my 1 full tank just able to ride about 300KM.
I just change the spark plug but it seems the same.
Any1 of you had this problem before?

Few factors - Not just Estima related

1) What engine oil are you using, what is the viscosity (if u know) and when you last change the oil
2) Petrol brand - It does make some difference. Certain cars prefer some specific of petrol brand for best FC.
3) What is the mileage of the vehicle.

Also you should see what is the Km/L displayed on your dashboard.
Also please dont quote "Cents Per KM" as it is grossly misleading.

Assuming your fuel tank capacity is 65L.
You pump full tank 60L (because you didnt say how many Litres you pump)
= 5Km per L.

Average Estima FC is around 9km worst to 11KM/L for town driving, according to other forums.

If yours FWD or 4WD version ? 4WD is known to have very bad FC.

Try to tackle the FC issue from 3 areas : (1) fuel/oil (2) air (3) current

(1)
- Need correct viscosity on engine oil. Personally I use 10W40 or 5W40 Shell Helix full synthetic.
- If you have not changed your fuel filter before, have it replaced. It's inside the fuel tank, and fuel tank is to be assessed from under the 2nd row seat. In short the labour cost could be > RM200 just to change this.
- Add fuel addictive (into fuel tank) to clear the carbon in engine. I personally use Royal Purple Max Clean or Liqui Moly injector cleaner. Try to run your tank near empty, add in the addictive right before you refuel. Then in that tank of petrol, try to drive faster or get higher RPM to push out the carbon.
- When was the last time you replace ATF ? May need to have it replaced too.

(2)
- Replace air filter
- Check air hose leakage if any
- Clean Mass-airflow sensor
- Clean throttle body
- Check O2 sensor
- Check exhaust leak

(3)
- Replace spark plug
- Consider to install grounding cable
- Consider to device which boost the pulse (e.g. pulse king, firestorm etc)

My old ACR30 is old, but FC is quite fine still. I get about 8-9km/L on normal driving. Highway get about 9-10km/L. Tank size is 65litre, but let's say we normally refuel 50-60L, which is good for 500km per tank usually.

How much did you pay for it ? Car price only, excl roadtax and insurance ?

As you bought used car, the mileage could be tempered with. Do monitor the engine oil regularly to see if the car consume engine oil or not. I am aware of some people buys this car for their wife to fetch kids to/fro school and tuition etc. All these aunties like to park the car and turn on engine (and air cond) for a long time while waiting for their kids. Ended up the engine life is much much older than the ODO suggests.

And when an engine is subject to this kind of abuse, it will develop high wear in the cylinder and causing engine oil consumption.

In short, you don't want to buy a used and low mileage car from "lady driver" who only use the car previously in the city. The engine wear i can be high.

Hi, there was a typo error, the mileage should be 120000KM+.

if u already spend 160k for recon estima u might as well buy a new Kia Grand Carnival or Hyundai Starex around 170 - 180k. Five years warranty bigger interior for ferry ppl, and more powerful engine to carry 6 - 7 ppl around.

Yeah, if estima recond 2015 onwards, the price is hovering around 150K to 160K, compare to Grand Carnival and Starex, the Koreans are certainly worth considering. Based on feedback Grand Carnival is really solid and drivability is very good. The only complain is the ceiling is slightly lower than Starex which makes it less airy in comparison. I suppose you win some but lose some, in terms of handling the Grand Carnival is way ahead although marginally beaten to comfort by Starex
