HI Estima members,

My ACR50, 2.4cc, has high fuel consumption problem.
for current fuel price, my 1 full tank just able to ride about 300KM.
I just change the spark plug but it seems the same.
Any1 of you had this problem before?

If yours FWD or 4WD version ? 4WD is known to have very bad FC.

Try to tackle the FC issue from 3 areas : (1) fuel/oil (2) air (3) current

(1)
- Need correct viscosity on engine oil. Personally I use 10W40 or 5W40 Shell Helix full synthetic.
- If you have not changed your fuel filter before, have it replaced. It's inside the fuel tank, and fuel tank is to be assessed from under the 2nd row seat. In short the labour cost could be > RM200 just to change this.
- Add fuel addictive (into fuel tank) to clear the carbon in engine. I personally use Royal Purple Max Clean or Liqui Moly injector cleaner. Try to run your tank near empty, add in the addictive right before you refuel. Then in that tank of petrol, try to drive faster or get higher RPM to push out the carbon.
- When was the last time you replace ATF ? May need to have it replaced too.

(2)
- Replace air filter
- Check air hose leakage if any
- Clean Mass-airflow sensor
- Clean throttle body
- Check O2 sensor
- Check exhaust leak

(3)
- Replace spark plug
- Consider to install grounding cable
- Consider to device which boost the pulse (e.g. pulse king, firestorm etc)

My old ACR30 is old, but FC is quite fine still. I get about 8-9km/L on normal driving. Highway get about 9-10km/L. Tank size is 65litre, but let's say we normally refuel 50-60L, which is good for 500km per tank usually.

Hi, thanks your comment.

Coz i just bought it from 2nd car dealer and drove for 2 weeks time.
They just change the Engine oil but i am not sure which type of it.

Mileage 120km+

How much did you pay for it ? Car price only, excl roadtax and insurance ?

As you bought used car, the mileage could be tempered with. Do monitor the engine oil regularly to see if the car consume engine oil or not. I am aware of some people buys this car for their wife to fetch kids to/fro school and tuition etc. All these aunties like to park the car and turn on engine (and air cond) for a long time while waiting for their kids. Ended up the engine life is much much older than the ODO suggests.

And when an engine is subject to this kind of abuse, it will develop high wear in the cylinder and causing engine oil consumption.

In short, you don't want to buy a used and low mileage car from "lady driver" who only use the car previously in the city. The engine wear i can be high.
