QUOTE(Krysthania @ Mar 29 2019, 06:52 PM) THE ULTIMATE QUESTION - Which is the best and riskless (no brick): koolshare, proven stable firmware for ac18, use the v7.9.1Merlin 380.70 ? HGG 380.70 ? Koolshare 380.70 ? 384.XX => brick sure ! I read that 384.XX try to upadte bootloader at reboot after firmware update, the reason why you can brick our router if you try to return back CFR too early toreset NVRAM ! |

QUOTE(prokiller1199 @ Mar 31 2019, 07:45 PM) Stable is quite stable la,just some led bug hahah but signal not as strong as stock one imo. Asus still the king tho. can't complain for the overall performance at this price point with the internal hardware specs.led bug and minor signal strength decrease is not a big deal, because with a strong signal also does not guarantee you good signal quality as noises and interference plays a factor too in the two way transmission. just my 2 cents. |

Is koolshare x7.9.1 in chinese or english? i assume u r unable to upload the firmware and flash it. please use internet explorer to upload. other browsers may give issues due to the nature of the cfe webpage behaviour. koolshare is dafaulting to chinese languange but can be changed in the language menu to english. This post has been edited by edministrator: Oct 25 2019, 09:45 PM |

QUOTE(muncheno @ Nov 24 2019, 11:12 AM) Thanks for the info, using it for a week now. So far so good especially on the wifi performance. Manage to increase wifi speed from around 240-280mbps to now 290-310mbps for my Huawei phone. I just update directly from koolshare 380.70_7.9.1. |

some info i find worth sharing here:
1. Flashing to original Merlin firmware will result in 5Ghz channel to be limited to 140 only (the firmware checks for region in the bootloader and no region selection available in firmware). 2. HGG firmware is very stable is Router mode, i tested few units and all able to overclock to 1000core/800mem STABLE with no issues, even without active cooling (i highly recommend positioning the router in vertical/standing mode to optimize cooling temp below 80C) 3. HGG firmware is not stable in Media Bridge mode, hence I flashed to Koolshare (we can select the region to unlock more wifi channels) and so far after 60 days still rock solid. QUOTE(peguin78 @ Jun 28 2020, 10:16 AM) I tried to reflash the original firmware via the web gui but kept receiving error. Any particular procedure that i need to follow. I am currently on hgg firmware. original Tenda firmware can only be flashed on the CFE web page, not the web gui of your current firmware. |
