Yamaha X-Max 250 (2018) - Harga Bawah RM25k!
QUOTE

Jangan cakap banyak, kita baca dulu 5 fakta pantas tentang Yamaha X-Max 250:

1.  ENJIN BERKUASA
Enjin 4-lejang 249cc SOHC penyejukan cecair berkuasa 20hp @ 7,500 rpm dan tork 21Nm (6,000rpm), manakala hantaran kuasa ke roda belakang disalurkan sistem transmisi V-Belt Automatik.

2. DIMENSI

5. CIRI KESELAMATAN
Selain ABS, skuter itu dipasangkan fungsi immobiliser dan kawalan jauh menerusi kunci pintar, dipanggil Sistem Smart Key Keyless Ignition.

i think the price should correct for a maxi scooter, 250cc, below 25k.
normally maxi scooter much more expensive than normal big bike

and if u compare with other scooter, this xmax got few other scooter dont hv, keyless remote, TCS, ABS,
and since its Yamaha, much more expensive biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

kymco downtown 250cc rm21k
kawasaki j300 rm31k ( based on kymco downtown 300)
honda nss300 rm27k

Those model that you mentioned, except the Maxsym 400i are cold selling here in Malaysia.. Let see if this Yamaha scoot can break the barrier..

if I am not mistaken, the majority of biker mentality in Malaysia once they need to fork more than 20k++ pricing barrier for a bike and scoot .. 1st thing they ask TOP SPEED..

Features come 2nd...

Aside note:

Durign the launch of Kymco XCT 400i and Maxsym 400i they sell within the same price range, but the capacity offered are higher (400cc or almost) ...and it sells...

u right. malaysian still dont like scooter.
if they have 20k, they like to buy normal big bike.

even compared within 150cc, those who buy nvx/nmax/pcx is just for fun, for works, already used big bike before or veteran just want to hv fun and some got people with legs/backhone injured etc.
im using nmax myself, most of people in the club group as i mentioned above. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

service cost same normal scooter but definitely much cheaper those VTS/kymcho maxi scooter
but if compared to kapchai, it dont hv oil filter but u need gear oil, which is normal for scooter.

engine oil cost me around rm50, every 4000km
gear oil around rm16, every 8000km
cvt service around rm35, every 5000-8000km
1 set of tires around rm300-400
the rest should be same as kapchai

pros
- good engine with nice pickup, bluecore tech with VVA
- nice full digital meter, got fuel avg, real time fuel, clock, service oil n replacement vbelt reminder
- nice at corner
- led headlight, brake lights
- leg position, wide seat
- top speed 120kmh, can reach 130- 140kmh if modi front pulley
- fuel tank around 6.6L with good FC, around 30-40km/L, full tank can reach more than 200km.
- got lots of accessories from indon@thai

cons
- lil bit of vibration at handle
- small wheel( but normal for scooter)
- absorber quite stiff, need to change to aftermarket
- there some issue with tensioner quality, starter contact easily rust, spark plug head easy to loose, side stand too short@inbalance cause the bike easy to fall
- expensive tires, but got nice choice like Michelin, pirrelli, maxxis
- its a scooter, amoi wont look at u same as those guys ride big bikes sweat.gif sweat.gif

i think once xmax came here, the service maintenance, spare parts might be expensive, same with those kymco brand.

HLYM will be offering the 2018 Yamaha XMax 250 at RM22,498.50 (basic price with GST). There are two colour options to choose from; Metallic White and Rusty Bronze.
Powered by a 250cc, single-cylinder, SOHC engine with liquid-cooling, the engine produces 22.5hp @ 7,000rpm and 24.3Nm of torque @ 5,500rpm.

dun la compare with small scooter

maxi compare with maxi la

23k is cheap for a maxi scooter

compared to others like kawasaki J300 (30+k), Honda Forza 300 (30+k)

and their korean counterparts - kymco downtown (20+k) and sym cruisym (20+k)

kawasaki (and also bmw) use modified kymco scooter and still sell at premium prices

so 23k for a japanese manufacturer's scooter (100% made in indon) is berry reasonable

the time they announce it liao below 24k ayam ready

ya, very tall and wide

i have reduced the back end by 35mm, the front end by 20mm so i can finally flat foot one leg at traffic lights

as for cilok, i'm used to it since i have been using er6n in heavy traffic too, which is taller (but narrower) and heavier (by 30kg)

been using it for almost 9 days, i can say i am very satisfied

the underseat cargo is VERY VERY HUGE that i dont need to put any top box liao

the traction control really give you confidence during wet riding

heck the rear brake disc are larger than my er6n rear disc. LOL

the tall windshield, at first i thought was a hindrance, but is actually a good thing during night ride. u dont feel the cold air bashing at you

but i would definitely want to try a short windscreen later. not that expensive (rm100)

the only thing missing is a cargo hook for milo peng ikat tepi. haihs... cry.gif

for me, i really need high windshield, if not. the wind can fell quite hard if crusing around 120kmj.

LOL top speed no idea. not that curious. i got my 650cc machine for that and i never exceed national highway limit also

maintenance? also no idea. ppl share 1st svc is rm 120. cos u need to buy 2 x 1L oil, but u only need 1.5L. so 0.5L paid first for next service. rm40 @ bottle

Yes, exactly the same in my LBS.
Require deposit but afraid to commit a date by giving excuse "depends on Hong Leong Yamaha". blink.gif doh.gif

Actually, the real reason why our LBS don't want to take NVX or X-MAX is because they (dealer) can't just buy that particular unit.
LBS must buy that particular unit packaged with other bikes which will include "sejuk models" as well. icon_question.gif

So if LBS want to sell NVX to customer, they must buy: NVX + Y15ZR / Lagenda 115 + Avantiz + FZ150i.
Or something like this combo.

This scenario is the same with all automotive players either cars or bikes. nod.gif sweat.gif

i dont think so bro,
for those model without ABS, got few thing missing. which to simply the brake system.
there is no ABS rotor@pump, ECU might be diff unit etc. and this make cheaper the cost of the bike.

like nmax, indonesia got ABS n non-ABS model. here in malaysia, we only got the non-ABS model.
i found out the ECU for both model is diff and non-ABS dont hv the ABS rotor/pump.

the speed sensor is used by ECU, so regardless got ABS/non-ABS, it still needed.

yes, most people will say it ABS ring, but it actually speed sensor, which for speedometer use also. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
in ABS, it need for ECU perform calculation( need accurate sensor for it and the ring sensor is pretty much accurate for checking the speed and tire locking up or skid) when it should trigger the ABS and it trigger the brake pulsation.

i think cheapest bike got ABS is pulsar rs200 rite ? or nvx ?
elegan250 already the cheapest 250 u can buy, if add ABS, the price will be more higher

yup, mybe it did have ABS on kymco model.but scrap by modenas to reduce cost.
elegan250 is based on kymco exciting 200 if i remember correctly.

full tank 12Liter rite? or 13?
so can go up to 350KM

fc around 26-29km/L. which not bad for 250cc.

but i guess this 1 not yet 1st service rite?

Full tank is 13L. To the first low fuel warning, there's about 2.5L reserve

I fill up to about 10.5L just now

So its about 10.5L / 340km = 32km/L in urban traffic. So kinda good. Time spent on the engine is about 12 hours (yes, it records the time lapsed)

top speed around 140-150kmh

good for daily ride or touring. only bad things about xmax is the seat height laugh.gif

Hope you have a long legs, as the seat of the scooter tend to be wide and make you "kangkanging" more in result tip toeing at the end..

See if your inseam is longer than your torso (upper body) regardless of the height..

For me.. I have longer inseam than my upper body...even though the overall height is merely 176cm..

X-Max according to some of my friends in the media, is the best all-rounder you can get now for a 250cc scoot. The price reflects it too!

Its all scoot with their engine mounting that flexes until your rear tire. since the engine design is whole set from cylinder head all the way to the CVT belt and gear hub behind...

UNLESS.. those maxi scoot that has CVT trans on one side and final Gearing with chain at the other side... (TMAX, SRV 850, Kymco AK550,

yest i went to GTmax seri muda shah alam, they got 1 stock, but lucky me i can try test sit on it before they put it on display stage. biggrin.gif

compared the seat height from nmax, definitely more higher. i need to tiptoe

Justin.Loong not justified for me to upgrade from nmax to xmax,
i will getting lil bit more speed( 130kmj vs 150kmj), more storage, more maintenance cost, more milage per fulltank, keyless, TCS but i need topup around rm15k-17k more, which for this price, better for me to get another bike like Dominar400. 1 is for daily/city ride, 1 for weekend use. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Ya I know it's XMAX thread, just asking if it refers to other scooter. whistling.gif hmm.gif

Maybe can contact HLY direct. I have very good experience communicating with their PR team. I bought EGO LC Fi in 2014. The shop gave wrong user manual. I email HLY to get the right one. Within 3-4 days I got the right one. I wen't to HLY factory in Sungai Buloh. They have spare parts department there. Can contact them to get the price and such.

I think it's gonna be tough for potential customers to buy because they first have to spend money to upgrade their license from B2 to B full.
Then fork out more money to buy the Forza 300. sweat.gif

I just got my xmax 250 today, very nice looking scooter and very easy to handle.

One thing I noticed is my front and rear brakes have very very little braking power, press until very hard also not really stopping. I don't think it's going to get much better after running in. Anyone else facing the same problem?

what the mileage clocked on ur scot ? could be the brakepad havent properly bed in if still new... same for tyres

ABS shouldn't affected since its only trigger if ur wheel locked.

The odo is 0km when I took the bike. Definitely not abs as it is not activated under normal braking.

This is one of the worst brakes I have, my previous scooters and kap chai also better than this, I don't think it will make much difference after running in even, the only thing I can think of is to bleed the brakes and hope that will improve it

Is it different from normal brakes? I see they use a pump to do it, exactly how the process work I'm not too sure also.

Anyway, talked to a few other Xmax owners and all have the same complain, weak front brakes. All of them upgraded the callipers and master pump.

I upgraded mine too, much better now the front brakes, can ride with more confidence.

Some photos below of the work done.

Yes, ABS is a bit different compared to the normal brakes. nod.gif
QUOTE
Wheel speed sensors are mounted above slotted rings on each wheel to measure and compare wheel speeds. The signal is sent to the ECU (electronic control unit) for monitoring. The ECU calculates based on information from both wheels for two parametres: whether the deceleration of one wheel exceeds a fixed threshold, and the other whether there is brake slip. These factors indicate a locked wheel.
The ECU signals the hydraulic unit to hold or release brake pressure, just momentarily before reapplying the brake pressure, to get the wheel back to the point of maximum braking force just prior to locking up. This pressure modulation allows the tyres to regain grip and enable the rider to control and steer his bike. In other words, ABS allows the rider to apply maximum braking force without locking the wheels and losing control.

From what I saw them doing, the installation and fixture of the ABS brake system is the same as the normal non ABS one. Just that for ABS, there is a wire connected to the master pump to skip the braking if the tyre is locked. You can feel the lever sort of jerks/vibrate when that happens.

Other than that, it is still the same mechanism as non ABS system and most probably to bleed both, the steps are the same.

Anyway, did try my ABS after the upgrade, easier to activate it now cause the bite is stronger.

Hi guys, I live in Shah Alam and work in KL city. I am planning to get a Xmax too. Could sifu here share with me the below:

1. What is the OTR price? Any recommendation which shop to buy from?
2. It's my first time buying a new bike, hence I have no idea which hire purchase financier offers the best rate. Some said to me personal loan rate is lower than Aeon. Is that true?
3. What is the maximum tenure for the repayment?
4. How much is the maintenance fee? How often is the maintenance needed?
5. Any recommendation on security lock and how much is it?

Hi,

It's Rapido Caliper and Racing Boy pump. The brake fluid reservoir is some generic brand but it looks nice in metallic black instead of the plastic looking white one that comes with the Racing Boy pump.

I did it at Kedai Motosikal Kin at Taman Tenaga, Cheras. Cost about 1.5k if not mistaken coz got other stuff also.

You can go there and show them the photo and tell them you want the exact same thing, much better than ori brake definitely. A must upgrade.

Next round I'm gonna try some Brembo brake pads for better feel.

Thank you, they have the adapter ready for the caliper pump means its already a common problem among X-Max users.

Price reasonable, for a brake upgrade.

Thanks bro..

I think I overstated the 1.5k price, could be closer to 1.3k if not mistaken but I don't have the itemized bill with me so can't really recall.

Worth every penny cause the original brakes were too weak.

Quick question,

Should I upgrade from Z250 to XMax?

My biggest concern is the belt vs chain..but XMax win in terms of storage and comfort I guess

If the belt for NVX / N-Max can last up to 25,000km before changing, I assume the X-Max should also be around the same mileage. hmm.gif nod.gif

Why not go back to the shop where you buy your scoot. I believe they have parts here and there that can be use for your purpose. Or you can ask them to order genuine spare parts if you're willing to spend a bit more.

Usually at least 1 month. It's the same as all the hot Yamaha models (NVX, Y15V2, R15, etc.) but depends on the store you're buying from. Some of them have higher priority than others.

Yup, pretty much this. It's considered a big bike/maxi scoot. But for all the technologies that it packs (switchable traction control and dual channel ABS), it's the cheapest of the bunch.

I just recently know about this. Previously i thought, wherever you can buy NVX/NMAX, you can also buy XMAX there. tongue.gif
I'm on week 6 currently. They said production problem. Believable? Or just another standard answer when they can't fulfill.
I also notice whenever you call some shop, and ask for cash price. They straight away said, got 1 stock, come today. Another standard answer i guess.

These shop owners are ultimately businessmen, and Yamaha also running a business. These 'production problems' are basically a reason for some of them to drive up the OTR price or straight up decline cash payment so that you have to pay loan price.

In my case, I originally wanted to get NVX. Waited one and a half months still no stock. Ended up getting a NMAX that was available there. My friend who got MT-09 also had to wait nearly 2 months to get his bike.

Next time, I'm getting a Honda or Kawi bike. Less hassle, just trade in and bike is out within days or a week at most. Most places have ready stock too.

Apologies for the rant, but trying to get a Yamaha scooter was one of the worst times I've had making a purchase. sweat.gif

Apologies for the rant, but trying to get a Yamaha scooter was one of the worst times I've had making a purchase.  sweat.gif

My previous experience wasn't so bad. Got my first Yamaha less than 2 weeks, car less than a week. This time when they call asking me to come down that loan has been approved. I thought it going to be another smooth experience. I went there and settle the dp and assured that i should get it within a week. Now, next week is Raya, no motor no duit raya.

I don't think so. hmm.gif
Because for any manufacturer, they need to submit annual production request to their respective HQ in order to get stock or get the KD kit (to CKD for local production).
So if they plan correctly, then should have stock. nod.gif

I'm seriously considering this bike, so this recall issue is a bit of a bummer. What should I check to avoid getting those defect units? Plus the price quoted now is way above Yamaha RRP..it's in the region of RM24k on the road!

Check the chassis number to see if your unit is affected or not.
If yes, then send for recall. icon_question.gif
If no, happy riding. cool2.gif

Mine still early to tell, but from fuel consumption, Ron97 doesn't do much except better pickup, don't know about long term. I got better millage with Ron95. Average around 36KM/L, compare to Ron97 at 32-33KM/L. Full tank got me 400KM+.

On your last fuel bar (1 bar), you still have like 3 liters inside.

I'm almost due for 1st service, where do usually people go, back to shop they purchased it, or got somewhere famous for scooters?

From the dashboard reading, I'm doing only 47KM/H on average. Whenever can I'll go between 90-130KM/H. 120-150KM/h only on MEX.

Probably best to take it to a Yamaha Star Shop. Check HLY's website for the nearest ones. One of the most famous now is Takong Racing due to the Youtuber Bob Yp.

In my experience, the official Yamaha Service Centres are more thorough with their service. They actually follow the manual to some degree (checking your controls, if the forks are leaking and any other sign of damage) and they ride your bike after they service it to test it first.

On the other hand, most bengkel will just change your oil and then hand you back the bike.

I don't own an XMAX so I can't answer that. Only had an NMAX before. You can give them a call and ask though. It'll be more than regular bengkel for sure.

First two services shouldn't be so bad because of the free labor coupons, but after that you're looking at anywhere from RM 20~50 more. Some of these big service centres don't even allow you to bring your own oil (I know Takong does not allow this as they have a sign stating this at the entrance of their bengkel area).

If maintain 110 km/h, how much is the consumption like? On my Honda PCX, it was about 30km/litre. I am just wondering.

Not really sure how to achieve this on my daily route. I'm using LDP/Federal mostly. Usually jam, only can pecut for short time. I once ride on MEX from Kuchai Lama to Putrajaya, constant speed is more that 110km/h i believe. But nothing significant on consumption if that count.

mine is the Racing Boy DB-5

i have to admit it is quite pricey

there's other cheaper option like DB2 or YSS punya for NVX, which cost less

the performance? much better than stock since it's fully adjustable. i dont know how to adjust it so i put everything on middle setting - rebound, compression, damping - and is quite happy with it

Hi Boss,

Want to ask.. since you lowered the XMax with NVX shocks.. do you lowered the fork clamp in front too? read from the internet you can actually lower it by 1.5 cm..

And did you shaved the foam/changed the seat too?

Reason asked got friend of mine want to buy 250 cc scoot but then he only 157cm tall, Sym Cruisym definitely he can climb but the feature XMax win .. so I am in the mids of doing research to lower down the Xmax..

why not take nmax ?
since its lighter and cheap maintenance. the only cons is not nice and fast like xmax.

xmax quite heavy, high seat, hard to cilok2 when jem because of wide body.

I'm used to LC for the past 10 years or so.. I haven't have much trouble cilok with XMAX on LDP. So more or less same experience.
Part I'm not used to is the turning radius. To switch lane while jam is much harder, but going in tight spaces in straight line, not so much..

The bike fell once but that not while on the road and not moving, because i kona too much while adjusting parking..and it's super heavy..

Agreed, can't deny the width and the length of the bike however it is a scooter, still twist and go.. unless you work around KLCC downtown area where the lane is small and lots of construction going on, kapchai si preferable..

XMAX is still a better long range commuting scooter... (50% highway 50% Urban traffic)

Commute from Damansara Fed highway to Cheras for 2 years using Kymco Xciting 400 before..

I don't think it is the "same engine as r15".

For the issue of "Nmax no keyless, no abs, no digital meter", that's Yamaha's product planning matter.
Even in other countries, it is largely the same spec. Only difference is that in Thailand (for example) they have ABS and non-ABS version.
BTW, the NVX meter is considered to be a digital type.

There also a diff in power on how the piston, cylinder and rod angled on the crank vs gravity..

Maybe i got it wrong about the digital meter. But for the engine it is not literally the same engine but it has been detuned to suit the scooter and of course with cvt

Ahh... I see where you read the news from.

QUOTE
The most interesting part about the upcoming NMax 155 would be the engine. It would be powered by the same 155cc engine that powers the Yamaha YZF R15 V3.0 in India. However, the power has been revised to suit the scooter. The liquid-cooled, four-valve engine of the NMax would produce a maximum power of 14.8 PS at 8,000 and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

Up to now, Yamaha India doesn't have the N-Max yet. sweat.gif

Currently seem your passenger having hard time climbing on xmax. With additional box, wouldn't it be more difficult.. Tight jeans pants and all.

Guess you're expecting the pillion to swing their legs across from the back? Luckily my pillion is my 10 year old son, he climbs first to his seat before I get to the bike. Haven't try with wifey yet smile.gif

I'm so used to kapcai, where you can easily jump from behind.

My friend hit his leg at the pointy end of the back seat handle bar when he didn't properly swing his leg over. sweat.gif damn it hurts just by watching..

Even if you try to climb using the footrest, i still think it's not easy. The seat is wide too..

Pillion naik first or the biker naik first?
What about bila turun? I am visualizing it will be easier if the biker get off the bike first before the pillion. However, I also understand the bike is very heavy.
Anyone can share ur experiece? As I may be getting one XMAX and may have to fetch my 60 yo mom.

Biker first. Then straighten and stabilise bike with both feet.

Inform pillion to climb on board.

Very informative. TQ bro.
As for getting off the bike, do you think extending the bike stand first and then biker get off the bike and then give a hand to the pillion to get off is a good idea?
Sorry for asking too much, I am used to kapcai only.

I think using the side stand as a backup when getting off the scooter is a good idea. Just in case to avoid "jatuh bodoh" situation.
But also, looking the the seat, I'm not sure of your 60 y.o. mom can slide down easily from the pillion to the rider's seat. hmm.gif

TQ bro. ya I can afford to jatuh bodoh but not my mom sad.gif
I think as long as I am off the bike and the bike itself is stable on the ground, I can help her with the sliding and landing.
One more ques, I understand the seat is quite high, I am 170cm, will there be any challenge extending the side stand while me and a pillion still on the bike?

I still finding it quite hard to be in stable position whenever someone try to climb aboard. Because of the position of foot rest is bit high, usually someone has to push themself up a bit in order to climb. Maybe pull you a bit too while in the process. That's when you have to stand very firm to avoid goyang.

Side stand might help. It takes time to get familiar with the position. Then to push it down is rather easy. I used to do it while stopping at traffic light, waiting kids or just to shut down engine n fast parking. I'm 176cm. Unless your mom is 185cm and athletic build, she can easily swing her legs over the back seat

I'm also same height as you and when I rode the X-Max with pillion, there isn't any issues.
Let your pillion know to sit still and not move around to cause instability until you've stopped completely.

However, if you're tip toe-ing like in this picture, then I think it's better make sure left foot is fully flat on the ground and your right foot is dangling.

More stability and even footing like picture below.

Saw new NMAX model going around on trade number plate in Sungai Buloh. I guess HLY is testing the new NMAX before launching it. The front headlights look like XMAX ones.

Thanks for the heads up. Interesting news. thumbsup.gif

Sounds legit because that's exactly what the leaked patent renders of the new NMAX look like. Can search Yamaha NMAX 2020 on Google Images. The tail light also resembles XMAX.
