E14=E5-476G. My review is Aspire 5. UHD 620 can run some light games. What games do you play? Always look for reviews (accurate tests like NBC not the ones in LaptopMag) to know the battery life of a specific model.

You need to bump up your budget if you want a good laptop with dGPU.

I see, I thought they are the same model based on cpu and dgpu.
Glad to know its disadvantages.
Example games: dota(WC3), cs 1.6, indie kind of games.

What do you suggest for light laptop, dvd rom is not required, ram upgradeable to 8GB. (budget still max RM2.2k)
Task: word document, movies, light games.

I'm busy now, check my whitelist in my signature below. Look for NBC reviews for info about RAM upgrade.

Did you read through all the content? You should get something from the 'outdated/mediocre CPU performance' section.

13 inch not an option? Consider Acer Swift 3 14/15 with MX150 and Xiaomi Notebook Pro (if you're fine with the warranty policy).

For budget options, consider Acer Aspire 5 with i7+IPS+SSD, needs RAM upgrade, 128GB SSD may be not enough to you. Or Acer Aspire 6, needs RAM+SSD upgrades.

For weaker dGPU, Lenovo Yoga 520 is a good choice but needs RAM upgrade. Lenovo Ideapad 320s 14 too but needs RAM+SSD upgrades. Dell 7570 also not bad with good IPS panel (not entry level), however it has mediocre battery life and the 128GB SSD may be not enough to you.

Thank for the suggestion, I would prefer 14" inch and above as my work require me to do many 1 on 1 presentation, another factor to take in to consideration is also weight. For now I have my eyes lock on Asus UX430UA.

Good laptop, but don't expect 'excellent' build quality. No dGPU though. Needs tuning like undervolting due to mediocre cooling. High quality IPS panel, just like other Zenbooks. Choose the Gold or Grey version, they have aluminum frame lid.

Is Aspire 5 = A515 model?
I think fellow ZMFong rated this laptop bad based on his review.

For budget laptops the 2 options above are the best, just need RAM+SSD upgrades. Acer Aspire 5 with i7 comes with IPS panel and included 128GB SSD while the i5 model gets TN panel without SSD. MX150 is far better than RX540 in terms of performance and efficiency especially in laptops. Note that 8550U and 8250U don't have much performance difference (except for 2MB more L3 cache) due to cooling and TDP limitations.

Yes I know, I read ZMFong's review in his LTT topic.
But it has heat dissipation issue causing cpu throttling and also bad display.

I can take a step back and get a lower rank dgpu like 940MX to offset gpu performance for build quality.
Is there such laptop at this price point?

This is mainly due to bad thermal paste job. After repaste should be OK. It has good build quality, I would say even slightly better than my Y520. For this budget Aspire 5 and 320s 14 have good build quality. 320s 13 as well but the cooling and battery life are mediocre, excellent IPS panel though.

Nope, it's a slimmer and lighter version of Aspire 5. So far there's only 1 model: 8250U, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, MX150. There's a possibility that it includes a good IPS panel too, not entry level IPS. Full aluminum body (maybe aluminum frame+plastic body), not plastic+aluminum brush. Needs RAM and SSD upgrades. No reviews yet so can't tell whether it's a good laptop or not but the concept of Aspire 6 is similar to Swift 3. See Laptopmedia for more info.

I went to LY last night..
You're totally right bro..

Sellers top recommendation is Lenovo Ideapad 320S (14")..
Yes it use IPS panel..

The cons is I need to top up money to install extra 128 GB PCIe SSD..

If I upgrade 128 SSD, do I need to upgrade RAM up to 8GB too?
or just ok?

Total cost for 128 SSD and upgrade to 8 GB RAM is around RM2900..
just 100 below top budget..  doh.gif

One more thing Brightstar don't have this laptop.

If you know best shop to get, do inform me..
I need to buy this today for sure..
*
2.9k is quite a bargain IMO. You get an PCIe SSD for that price.

I bought mine 320 (without S), I had to replace my ODD with a HDD caddy - it doenst come with a M.2 slot. And, it was at the same price.

Wanted Acer Aspire 5, which comes with an M.2, but the design is kinna ugly

Umm no. Ideapad 320 non S is mediocre. Everything. To be honest with you: If design is important then why ask for recommendations. Just buy the laptop that has sleek design. In fact good design doesn't mean good laptop.
