Hi guys, I have done glass coating on my car and wondering what shampoo is suitable to use and looking for your recommendation. My Coating shop told me that my current Meguair Wash and Wax is not suitable but they have yet to tell which is. Looking for your feedback. Many thanks.

Was comparing Ceramic Pro brand coating vs Sonax CC36 from Germany. In the end went with Sonax as ceramic pro price is very expensive. I did mine in Singapore. The end results is very good on my new continental car.

When do side by side comparison with another non ceramic coating new car, both the same black Color, u can easily tell that ceramic coated car has the look of mirror like, flat and glossy smooth finish.

For Non ceramic coated new car paint, when looking from side at 45degree angle, u can see the unevenness, wavy texture of the paint.

Sonax product guarantee is 36months. But i think with our weather, maybe last 2 years. I shall see and report back.

In SG, 2 Layers ceramic pro brand is already around RM3k
4 layers is RM3.9k

The sonax cc36 from Germany is a 3 layer process and cost slightly less than RM2.4k, that’s why I went for it. Furthermore sonax is made in Germany. I hope it’s a good combo with my Conti car.

There is not much marketing for sonax ceramic coating but worth to take a look.

I have done some extensive reading before sending my car for coating (because it is expensive) and I found out that it is accepted generally that if you favor towards "protection" then you should opt for glass coating however if you are more for the "looks" then the ceramic coating may just be your fix.

it does seem that glass coating is "harder" than ceramic coating BUT lack the finishing touches (ie: the smoothness and not as shiny).

the differences are negligible unless you are a person who ticks every check box in the form and it especially won't matter much if you wash your fortnightly with good car wash shampoo.

Latest tech around is graphene coating. It is supposed to be one step up from ceramic coating.

If you have a new car, you probably can apply this by yourself. Some of the manufacturers are Ethos Graphene Matrix and Adam Graphene Coating. Google them and you can also find youtube videos showing prep and application.

I haven't tried yet but I was planning to buy and try them when I have time.

Coatings are useless unless you wash your own with car shampoo that is not strong or remove coatings.

Lots of car wash centers offer coatings. They use marketing strategy to make your coating go away fast by using strong shampoo. It feels like very clean but in fact the coatings are remove each wash

Realistic hydrophobic permanent coats are mostly expensive and it is in the range of 5000 - 30000. Some applies directly on paint that need weeks to complete

Some are coated directly to the paint protection film. Such as Magnus Pro ( ceramic Pro Family )

Some coatings such as FEYNLAB offers one of the best coatings in the world but it is not easy to apply any of them. DIY is impossible with no professional coating method experiences
They provide coatings that self heal minor scratches, swirls and etc.

Best investment is still paint protection film that is coated with hydrophobic enhancements and self heal tech

-----------------------------------------------

Everytime rain touches the car and it is not clean off. It will bond on the coat and causes bad effect. If the vehicle is coated
It will bond on the coat rather than the clear coat of the vehicle but bird poop is another question

All those videos on easy wash are just gimmick. They are washed immediately

How to check how many layers of coats are applied. Use a meter and never trust what crap the salesman say

To me coating is useless.

Watermarks will still accumulate even after coating is done. This is because rain water after being baked in the sun, will create stubborn watermarks which normal car wash can't remove.

End up, you will still need to do polish to remove these watermarks.

Thus, I would not do coating and use the money to do polish & waxing when needed (normally once a year).

yeap. washing your own car regularly with a PH neutral car shampoo is the only thing that most car owners don't do after they bought a coating package because they thought coatings are an "end-all" maintenance thing.

coatings are not useless. skeptics deem that it is because of all the false advertisements most shops put out (eg: wash car once every month only etc) and when these claims cannot live up (obviously since it is fake) then all the negatives come in.

coatings are not invincible, like wax, they are made to add just an extra layer of protection on top of the existing clear coat, a more resistant sacrificial layer (if you will). the "scratch resistance, hydrophobic effect, glossy surfaces" are like french fries that comes with your burger.

the idea is when something "bad" happens, you only need to remove that layer which was not "part" of your car - a feel good factor.

while polishing is an effective way to restore your paint work but there's a limit to it before the clear coat is "wiped off"and it hits the actual paint work.

at the end of the day, no matter what "stuffs" you put on your car paint, if you neglect it, it is bound to go straight to hell.

i am a firm believer of good old elbow wax kinda person and i still do because they are cheap and they work BUT depending on the individual, some may not want to spend that extra effort on applying the wax once every 6 - 8 months and the surface prep prior to application is tedious (claying etc). I know it because i have been doing it for the past 4 years on my Accord.

applying your own wax is made even more difficult if you are living in a stratified property because you cannot occupy the car wash bay for the entire day and deprive others of the usage.

when i bought my new car, i decided to give coatings a try, paid RM2,100.00 for a 5 year warranty one and i am enjoying the convenience that it gives me at the moment. RM2,100.00 is a lot of money but if it realistically, it's just about RM1.00 daily.

I did at Sensha Coating Malaysia. Love the results.

Any recommendations for coat-friendly shampoo?

Thanks above for the Sonax option.

May i know how long it can last for "shinning" and are you using Sensha shampoo to maintain the coating?
