Well, having a sometimes on sometimes off WIFI is worth calling them up for, but, as always, there's gonna be a SLIGHT chance of them hurting our XPS... SLIGHT only... But rather then suffer a problematic WIFI connection, better just go ask them to repair it... icon_rolleyes.gif

If they do something drastically bad to the your M1210, you can always claim negligance and ask for a replacement (hmm, lemme see, an M1330?)... sweat.gif

Or something... sweat.gif
*
hmmm...guess...that's the only best solution i have...would call Dell then...thanks... icon_rolleyes.gif

It's 101.44, so can't play Galactic Civilization 2 with it... Sticking to my current betas... icon_rolleyes.gif

Just downloaded the new WHQL (aka Microsoft approved) 162.18... WILL test it soon, as soon as I can get my hands off playing Brothers In Arms in full HDR!

Ah, the wonder of old-ish games... wub.gif
*
erksss...current one better than the latest one?... hmm.gif

Dear All,

Thank you all for all your informative replies.

Last night, I seem to have blown my XPS M1210 power adapter and wish to know where in KL can I send my charger for repair or worse case buy a new one from? (2nd hand also ok).

Please help me.

Thanks alot everyone!
*
erksss...you blown your adapter?...have you called Dell and ask for replacement?.... hmm.gif
if you're looking for cheaper battery and adapter(secondhand one)...try and have a look at lowyat plaza...second-level...
that kind of shops mostly located at the back part...where you have to go further more in...got two-three shops sell the adapter.... smile.gif
all the best...anyway...do try and check with Dell first...as supposed your's still under warranty... cool2.gif

actually u can try nego with Dell...becuz i found out tat the gcard is embedded on mobo...tat time during service the technician told me...
mayb u just change the mobo n update driver tats all....waa long time din visit this thread...my XPS still alive kicking hehe...
too bad now M1330 stole all our bling bling glory...hahah....damn envy la M1330 finishing looks and specs...
*
yeah!...M1310 taking all the spotlights of XPS...need to do something about this... icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Jul 19 2007, 12:40 AM)
Try Low Yat --> All IT Hypermart... They have a selection of sleeves for sale... Personally I recommend the Case Logic 13 inch Shuttle sleeve, best sleeve I know of (using it now, fits the M1210 like a charm), but it's a bit steep at RM80++... icon_rolleyes.gif
*
yups...most of shops in Lowyat sell that Case Logic...from smaller till the biggest...
i was looking one...but everytime visiting Lowyat always didn't bring along my M1210,and didn't dare to simply buy as it's pricey... sweat.gif
first impression thought of the 12'inch sleeve can fit...but when think back...don't think it can fit...
guess...Eiraku owned the 13'inch case logic and he said it's fit well...that would be the perfect size for M1210 then...
wonder if there's any shop selling at cheaper price... tongue.gif

I take it you used the Dell updated drivers... That's not good to hear... Is it XP or Vista? sweat.gif

About the build quality, I'm going on 3 months with no peeling or anything, I might be lucky in that aspect... But for the optical drive, mine has a crazy habit of NOT securing the disks fully (not all of the tiny disc latches on the round thing you put your discs on are engaged), after which, the thing would vibrate its head off... A good push into the disc tray (ensuring that all the latches are engaged) normally solves the problem... icon_rolleyes.gif

Anybody with the silver paint peeling off the palmrests yet? whistling.gif
*
hmmm...don't do all the Dell updates...some drivers might not work well with your system... sad.gif
happened to me...thought all is usefull, caused the updates would pop-up informing you to update...now no more... sweat.gif
anyway...my palmrest still ok...

QUOTE(dingding @ Jul 23 2007, 07:35 PM)
my palm rest area is turning yellow... dunno whether it's juz dirty or is it the color fading....
*
don't know...maybe you're a heavy user and keep your hand everyminutes/second on the palmrest... tongue.gif kiddin only... icon_rolleyes.gif
anyway...mine still ok...no fading or yellowish turning... thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 6 2007, 05:34 PM)
I got to look at the M1330 myself during PCFair on Saturday (didn't get to play with it though, a crowd was blocking me from doing that), and other then it being gorgeous, yeah, I see having ONLY 2 USB ports as being a SERIOUS problem. Right now I have 4 USB connections running on my M1210 (Printer, Mouse, Cooler and USB Hub - plus another 4 ports), not counting the Flash drives that I connect to it on a regular basis... icon_rolleyes.gif

So, yeah, sure the M1210 loses on design, screen brightness (and real estate) and graphics power (plus the HDMI connection)... But we still have oodles of practicality... thumbup.gif

About the chrome plating problem, call them up! We paid good $$$ for this thing, so they better ensure that we get our money's worth... As long as CC covers it anyway... whistling.gif
*
ooo...you did drop by at Dell's booth during PC Fair...i went all the three days of PC Fair... tongue.gif
tested out almost all the latest notebook of different brands...just want to get the feels of having different kind of notebook... laugh.gif

hmmm...one of it is XPS M1310...really a nice notebook to have...just to say...the sad part is USB only 2...got many things to connect...

another tempting notebook was HP notebook model TX1221AU... brows.gif
the price is really tempting and specs also is very nice(for me icon_rolleyes.gif )...
the design also is really attractive, the monitor can be twist and use as a Tablet PC...that's really cool man... rclxm9.gif
but on Sunday...the model already out-of-stock...guess,many people snatch the model...
on Friday and Saturday only got people bought two three of the same model...so suprised... sweat.gif
without thinking much and play around for a while...they bought it... cool2.gif

anyway...did any you guys check the preview model of XPS M1210(behind M1310 booth)...it's touchpad got the XPS word(got lighting some brows.gif )...looks cool for me... thumbup.gif
wonder why mine don't have that...any of M1210's users had that kind of touchpad... smile.gif

anyway...any latest news or feedback, problems, reviews or anything about XPS M1210... hmm.gif

It's about 4 months now and something started to went wrong.Wireless adapter suddenly disabled after using wifi for a day + and can't be enabled, need to restart the computer to get it working.Other than that,USB device not recognized pop up appears sometimes and webcam suddenly missing from my computer.Just like solution above,it's working after a restart, wondering any of you having such problems?Maybe it's time to give them a call.
*
i encountered that kind of problems...using XP Home...but i encountered after installing the latest BIOS through Dell's pop-up thingy updates... sad.gif
its best to call Dell to get them fixed... thumbup.gif

so whats your current status?...still having the same problems?... hmm.gif

how's the outcome?...is it good?...better quality and is it more faster?... hmm.gif

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 21 2007, 01:18 AM)
Get the CoolerMaster NotePal Infinite OR the Zalman NC-1000 --> best coolers I know of... The Infinite is new and has a similar design to the NC-1000 (well spread cooling vents), AND it's also cheaper and comes with a cool design... thumbup.gif

DON'T get the NotePal P1 if you have a choice... It's NOT really that suitable for the M1210... Am using one right now, and it's not quite effective... sweat.gif
*
owh!...really?...NotePal P1 isn't that good...thought of buying it last time...guess...would try and have a look for Infinite or Zalman as you recommended... cool2.gif

Hmmm, same problem as mine but rarely happened recently.Other than that,it's working properly,at least for now.Maybe you can give this a try but haven't tried it yet,http://supportapj.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=my&cs=mydhs1&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R164255&SystemID=XPS_M1210&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=9540&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=6&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=220545 .I am using A08 currently.

Yea,using windows xp currently.Erm,not really when using com for few days,I mean, leave it on for download.
*
just to share with...i did installed the driver but it didn't successfully completed...it remains 47% install(from morning till night also shocking.gif )... sad.gif
the good thing is that...i can use the wifi for more than a day without switching it off or making it sleep...it works superb... thumbup.gif
but the bad part...the temperature(CPU/HD) goes up high...mine from 48-50c reached up till 69-70c?... rclxub.gif
and the problem is...the driver remains as 47% without completely install...if i need to use wifi for a whole day need to remain the driver witout abort/cancel the installation(which only half-way complete installation sweat.gif )...very weird, wonder why that happened to my one?... sad.gif
anyway i'm still using BIOS version 7...thought of upgrading it into version 8...but how's yours?...managed to use wifi for a whole or two days?.... hmm.gif

to Vista users?...most of you guys using which version of BIOS?... hmm.gif

Maybe you can try to cancel the installation, remove your driver and reinstall it again if it's still stucked there.Yea,it's working well now,the temp, unsure about it but mine always around 60-70 degree celsius..
*
owh!...did canceled it many times...anyway...installed my BIOS driver to version 8 now...it seems to be working fine... rclxms.gif
and i didn't install that driver(wifi driver)...caused the wifi seems to be working properly back... nod.gif
but there got some funny part...where, i need to at least restart my XPS two or three times to have a longer usage of wifi(which last non-switch-off for more that a day)... sweat.gif
did you encountered something like this? hmm.gif

So are you downloading anything when the problem occur?

Besides this,
hardware auto gone disconnected mostly happends to near faulty hardware.
my old cd-rom goes undetectable each time i inserted a disc to read n need a restart to get it detected n eventually the cd-rom dies in the next few weeks.
So maybe ur hardware is juz telling u that its gonna die soon?
