Better use the Windows wifi thingy... ProSet does some funky things sometimes, dunno why... There's no choice in Vista though, no ProSet...

does that mean...Vista got no options to use either windows or Intelpro wifi?...
so...whats in the system that included in?

Huh? One day only, I miss so many posts.. XD
On my soon-to-be uni, well.. I won't divulge, let it be a guessing game. ;P
I have my wifi on 24/7 but I only have the humming sound when my laptop gets too hot. Once when I was using my laptop while skyping, my friends commented that the humming noise sounded like having a big lorry in the background
Will be parting with my laptop most prob later. Dell technician will be coming over to diagnose the problems with my laptop and maybe send it back to Penang factory.
so...the guessing game still on is it?....when you will be flying off to states?...
so planning to bring some tasty Malaysian caramel(homemade) to states also?...kidding only...
so...you will be getting a new set of XPS is it?...make sure you try everything out when the new set arrive at your home...
don't forget to report it here with us...

I really cant tell what the humming sound all about. Is it more like a very fast spinning sound coming from fans? That is normal for a lappy if that is the case. All laptops with any brand (especially hp) have fans that will spin faster if gpu and cpu get hotter. So the faster it spins, the more noise it makes, I guess. Clean the dust like i mentioned earlier.
its more of like what you said...
but sometimes...when running a big file/program...you can hear some noise as if the fan/processor running it...
need help from Eiraku or derred:
mind to pm me of how to fully format a notebook...
and what software should be inside it after formatted...
if you guys know and don't mind to share...here/front page also can...
thinking of deleting/clearing all the unwanted/unknown/un-need stuff in the notebook...
thank you...
