Btw, if using Plex, you shouldn't have any issue diplaying subtitle, although if you have you can set the setting to burn in the subtitle from Plex server.
*
You can try ESH @ Starling. The staff members there were accommodating when I wanted to test some Dolby video files. They even install VLC upon my request.

Plex can download online subtitle automatically. Displaying it usually is not a problem for Plex. That's why I was tempted to get an Intel NUC to host my PMS, but costly.

i dont understand y ppl bother getting the 45" model lol... for just extra 300 u can get 50" (or if you really want to save get the non-Android TV version and then buy ur own TV box)... price per inch also relatively same... so value wise the 50" is much a better buy IMO... and pls dont tell me that extra 5" is not worth it... makes a significant difference... as for me 60" is the way to go... for futureproofing

[attachmentid=9942906]

45" vs 50" vs 70/80"

SenQ at 1U?

Yes, Sharp's 60" UA6800x is a good deal, if it meets your requirements.

however im still unsure if its worth getting the android tv version or not... yes slightly better specs with bluetooth and 4 HDMI instead of 2 and better speakers... but i already have a soundbar and Mi TV box... found a good price on Lazada https://www.lazada.com.my/products/sharp-lc...s581654234.html less than 2.8k... looks tempting... but not sure how much i am losing from not getting the Android TV version
*
Just stick with normal one, everything else you have your Mi Box.

but big problem is only got 2 HDMI... no Bluetooth not really an issue tho... hmm dilemma

I guess you're hooking your soundbar directly to Mi Box instead of TV, right? Otherwise could utilise the HDMI ports on soundbar.

ran a few more tests on 6800x...

AUDIO

i connected my box player direct to tv, by passing the AVR; tv optical arc to AVR.
.. dd, dd+, ddtruehd, ddatmos tracks will be reduced to core dd - press display, u see it shows up as "surround dd".
.. dts, dtshdma, dtsx tracks will all be reduced to lpcm 2.0.
.. i think results will be same with HDMI arc as the e-manual does say tv is only DD capable.

.. in contrast, the tv player can do only dd, cannot do dts at all - no audio.
.. using vlc, mx player in androidtv, dd or dts will be reduced to lpcm 2.0

the tv definitely cannot do DTS.
tv's netflix and arc will give dd5.1, nothing higher.

Thanks for the info. rclxm9.gif

Something worth nothing. Got sound doesn't mean the output stream is original.

Factory reset will not reset the Uptime??

Don't think so. It's like car odometer. Unless you replace the board or know how to burn the chip that stores the number.

Hope the box still there for 1-to-1 replacement. All the best!

bellow is type of the files can be used on 6800X (Thailand):.......H.265 (HEVC)... rclxms.gif

Playing file coded in H.265 isn't a problem with VLC. Not sure if VLC supports HDR or not though.

ok guys the verdict is out... today i just went to Harvey Norman is spent an hour there testing all the TVs they got... and sadly i have to say the Sharp is really baaaaadd... picture & build quality, functionality, contrast, HDR etc is all OUT... the best was Sony... by a mile... plus Sharp is made by Hisense so ur just getting a Hisense TV with a Sharp logo on it... very disappointed i have to say... hence the saying... u get what u pay for... id rather pay a bit extra for the Sony... and ill say LG was 2nd and 3rd was Samsung... they didnt have the NU7400 model apparently they said is exclusive only to Sen Heng... anyways... won't be getting this Sharp anymore... hope u guys who already bought will enjoy it... but not for me

Unless you're putting 2 different brands of TV side by side at home, I don't think you'd notice the flaw in any of them if you watch it at home.

Just my 2 cents.

I think in order to display Chinese sub, you'd have better luck with embedded ones than SRT files. If SRT saved in wrong encoding, your Chinese characters all gone case. Just saying. I've never get SRT to display Chinese subs ever, other than those embedded ones.

I think that app was not designed with landscape mode. laugh.gif

If your audio playback is strictly TV's speakers, just go ahead.

Stay away from Toshiba

Toshiba sold to HiSense https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/14/1664937...-tv-deal-signed
*

Yes, unfortunately this is correct and the products have nothing to do with Toshiba any longer, they are just using the name to trick people into believing that they are getting Japanese quality when they are actually selling Chinese crap.
Unfortunately I feel into this trap - I bought the 55U9750VM - their high end TV assuming I will get a quality product. Unfortunately that's not the case.
This TV is an absolute piece of crap - the panel died after less than 6 week. Customer service sucks getting parts from KL takes 2 weeks, so the TV will be gone for 4 weeks. Yes, this is not toshiba but hisense so expect chinese quality and chinese customer service.
Stay away from these products as far as you can.
*
This is sad news. Toshiba was in my list while I was hunting for an Android TV.

dd+ ddtruehd, ddatmos, dts, dtshdma, dtsx will all be transcoded to dd.

Mine only got these 2 options for pass-through.

Is it because I'm using a different branded TV? laugh.gif

definitely missing the "transcoding" option.

that exist with kodi 17.6 on sharp androidtv (incl old model ue630x) and my box.
what TV u bought that doesn't have it?
*
I'm using Sony TV. Kodi app installed via Play Store. Wonder if that's the difference.

interesting... which model?

possible older model, old android version?

then again, i hv read in the sony thread a couple of users say they hate the androidtv!

dun really know why.... but i love the androidtv in my 2 sharps, can't live w/o them.
*
X85f, now still on Nougat. Kodi is 17.6. The Android performance not really great. Using MTK chipset.

Built in player I could get DD+ pass through. Archos player + codec plugins cannot. Kodi can. But none can play Dolby TrueHD. Anyhow, TV doesn't support Dolby TrueHD. So Atmos audio is out of the picture. The only problem is, it doesnt transcode down to supported codec.

I think my previous LG could still pass through Dolby TrueHD + Atmos (could be transcoded, cause soundbar was only showing DD, which is 5.1), if I'm not mistaken.

i wud read that as the TV firmware is not optimized for kodi 17 - this is seen in many devices.

howver, it wud seem it has a better usb player/licnese since it can do dd+.
So just have to wait and see if Kodi suddenly decodes Dolby TrueHD 1 day.

The DD+ royalty definitely cost quite a bit. sweat.gif
