Hi, i have a question about transit in Narita airport. I arrive at Narita at 7.20am, but i wanted to take the next flight from Narita to KIX using Jetstar which departs at 940am. Is it possible to make that flight?
*
should be able to since same airport...

unless your flight into narita is delayed...

Yesterday I have made one of the fastest decisions in my life: booked a flight to Osaka (KIX) after I saw the cheap airfare without knowing anything about travelling to Japan and the Kansai region!

This is my very early draft itinerary (only me and hubby). I just want to make sure that the route that I take is ok and could save time & especially travelling cost by rail.

We want to make this trip a relaxed one and we don’t mind walking long distance since the weather is cool in November. We prefer to walk outdoors, admire the beautiful autumn foliage and we are not keen on indoors i.e. museum, exhibition, etc.

From the dates above, would I be able to catch the beautiful autumn foliage at Kyoto, Nara and Osaka? Is the rough itinerary above ok and makes sense?
*
not going for halloween...but it's ok

at least you did your homework before asking here for suggestions, the places to visit can plan slowly since still got 7 months to go
but better book accommodations earlier to avoid surprises

I'm ok to stay at 2 places..i very lazy carry heavy luggage around too. the more i read about kyoto, the more i like it compared to osaka cos during autumn the scenery is very nice.

Thanks..i'll put himeji castle in my planning too.
*
in that case, you have few options:
1. base in kyoto, side trips from there
2. base in kyoto few days, base in osaka few days (that's what i did)

Note:
* Will be travelling with a 2 year old child.
* Prefer slow pace trip.
* Both me and my wife have visited Japan previously and have done Hakone Freepass.
* This is just a rough idea of where we will be during our Japan trip in Nov. Nothing is finalized yet except for the flight tickets.

Date Place
Day 1 (Fri, 2 Nov) Arrive at Haneda Airport @ 9.40pm. Depart to AirBnB at Shinjuku.
Day 2 (Sat, 3 Nov) Visit Shinjuku Gyoen Garden + Takeshita Street
Day 3 (Sun, 4 Nov) Visit Odaiba + 1 TBC place
Day 4 (Mon, 5 Nov) Depart to AirBnB at Chiba. Visit Moff Animal Cafe or Mother Farm
Day 5 (Tues, 6 Nov) Disneyland Day 1
Day 6 (Wed, 7 Nov) Disneyland Day 2
Day 7 (Thurs, 8 Nov) Depart to Kyoto. Free and easy.
Day 8 (Fri, 9 Nov) Kyoto Full Day
Day 9 (Sat, 10 Nov) Kyoto Full Day
Day 10 (Sun, 11 Nov) Kyoto Full Day
Day 11 (Mon, 12 Nov) Depart to Hakone? or Kawaguchiko?
Day 12 (Tues, 13 Nov) Hakone / Kawaguchiko Full Day
Day 13 (Wed, 14 Nov) Hakone / Kawaguchiko Full Day
Day 14 (Thurs, 15 Nov) Hakone / Kawaguchiko Full Day
Day 15 (Fri, 16 Nov) Depart back to Tokyo before noon. Explore around Shibuya
Day 16 (Sat, 17 Nov) Akihabara + 1 TBC place to visit
Day 17 (Sun, 18 Nov) Yokohama Day Trip
Day 18 (Mon, 19 Nov) Free and easy. Flight back at 10.50pm

Questions:
1) Is it worth getting Japan Rail Way Pass? If yes, should I go with a 14-day pass and which day should I start using it?
2) From Kyoto, can I take a train direct to Kawaguchiko or I must go through Hakone first?
3) Any other suggestions/recommendations? Should I switch things around a bit to make travel more convenient? Like maybe from Tokyo > Hakone/Kawaguchiko > Kyoto > Tokyo

Thank you for your time and I welcome any feedback  notworthy.gif

since you already purchased the ticket to go on 13/4...regardless peak or not still going right

unless you haven't bought anything such as flight tickets and whatnot, then this question would be more relevant

these are not budget airlines...

i guess jetstar and peach / vanilla air still unable to book in advance of 6 months ahead

i am also searching for domestic flights between kix to narita/haneda in oct / nov

Just got back from Kansai, did Kyoto Osaka and Nara.

For local travel around these cities, my partner and I just got the ICOCA card which is like our Touch and Go.  Basically ICOCA can use anywhere subway and buses except for limited express lines like the Nankai and Haruka which you need to buy physical ticket. Any other subway or railway you can use.  No need for special pass and it works well to get to all the places.  Easy to top up at any MRT station.

You can get ICOCA at the KIX as soon as you exit the main entrance.  You can also prebook which saves processing time.  When you leave KIX you can surrender the card and get a refund of balance minus processing fees.
*
icocoa / pasmo / suica is indeed very flexible..not tied to certain train companies

if you plan your itinerary carefully (not 100% flexibility)...jr pass or any passes can save some money

Guys,

1. How's the Ride sharing / Uber / Grab scene in Japan? Cheaper than Taxi? still not common?

2. I am looking for hourly rate hotel in tokyo and i found that only "love" hotel and Internet Cafe provide that. Does Capsule or hostel charge hourly? Gonna check out at 12pm and go do some last min shopping but want to find a "proper" place to rest and bath and chill until night flight back to KL.
*
i don't think there's Grab in japan...but i may be wrong
Uber for sure yes

Hi All,

Would like to get your suggestion.
We (couple) are planning to Hokkaido for autumn scenery in early November this year. Plan to visit Hokkaido for a 12 or 13 days visit.
Currently we've not book the air ticket yet as we are thinking if it will be too long for a trip of 12 days to Hokkaido, instead maybe a Hokkaido + Tokyo Trip would be better. If Hokkaido + Tokyo trip, we are planning to fly to Hokkaido > Tokyo > KL. So we need to make up our mind before purchase the air ticket(either a return ticket to Hokkaido or 1 way tic to Hokkaido, then to Tokyo, then.. etc).

So would like to check you guys opinion, is it too long for a 12 days trip to Hokkaido only? Or its better to include Tokyo in the trip?
*If added Tokyo, we'll go for Studio Ghibli, ramen-cup studio etc. If Hokkaido only, we'll have more time for each of places like Sounkyo, niseko, etc.

*Some elaboration on what we like - we not really interested into those biscuit making class (saw some blog that there is a place in hokkaido for this), as we love to take photos (of ourselves) we are more into scenery(cant wait for that mt. yotei background shooting from niseko ground), or nice buildings (temple/old buildings) as background, or new environment city (like tokyo modern city).
I know everyone's interest in a trip may be different, but would like to get some opinion from those that visited Japan. Is 12 Days Hokkaido-only Trip is too long?

Thanks notworthy.gif

hi guys. questions about timeline during flight.

from KL to Tokyo, haneda, 4th June 2.40pm depart from KL and arriving at Tokyo Haneda  10.30pm.

and from Osaka KIX, 10pm depart and arriving in KL at 4am in the morning.

I mean will there be any big difference in the timeline? Or is the arrival time stated above is based on the time in Tokyo already?  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

wadever time quoted on the official airline booking sites are destination time zone

Anyone here been to Sapporo, Hokkaido?

If one were to spend moderately (no premium restaurant foods) without some snacks as souvenir, is RM1.5-2k enough for 6 day's budget? All included (transportation, daily meal and so on) except hotel (bought it with AA Go).
*
around rm300 per day..sounds ok

I heard public transportation ain't cheap there. Is renting car better than taking public transport (even though cost might be slightly higher)?  sweat.gif

if you are going during winter...and you have no experience driving in the snow...better don’t

parking ain’t cheap too unless you are sharing the ride with 3 other ppl
