Yes , totally agree and not encourage othes to buy a new car just for grab

that why i will say if we earn less than rm20 per hour , i will not drive , and for current inflation , i think we might need to increase that amount .

a min. wages now a person average can get rm10 , and medium income can get rm20 , higher income can get more.

but all of them no need to risk their car .( personal cost )

the benefit of this work was flexible , which in my opinion was not really true because you will need to " work " to get income . afterall still need to input about the same hour of normal working to get normal salary paid .

at last , after certain experience , you are out of the game haha.
*
i made a calculation my average nett per hour at weekday is RM20 and weekend is RM30 (excluding incentive). This rate is higher than a lot office work

(30*48*4*2/7) +(20*48*4*5/7) = 1645.71 + 2742.86 = 4388.57 (excluding incentive) How many ppl can get this figure << working 48hr/week.
This is an income boost especially to the low skilled segment worker or fresh grad.

and yes i agree dont buy new car unless u dont plan to sell

wow , weekend can average rm30?? i never drive weekend before haha

your figure was nett , or deducted maintenance and petrol etc?

yes , this was a income boost for low/just enough salary people ( 1k - 3k ) like me .

but no advancement here and bla bla bla , dont want to repeat .

but 1 thing sure to mention was , after 10year you will still have consider " no skill " for any employer except taxi company.

i dint say driver dint learn anything , but the experience was not a skill for others .

i dont quite understand your calculation

let say 10hour per day = 20x10x5 + 30x10x2 = 1600 x 4 = 6400 exclude maintenance.

wow , 6400 , can you work everyday for 10hour++? ( yes for certain people because there was )

and you need to run the risk of 1 day suddenly you engine/gearbox break down , and there goes your car , once it break down , normally it wont in good conditon.

maybe if you use diesel car the engine can last better. i know people say i think too much , but i am that kind of person haha
*
nett means after deduction of commission and petrol. take my yesterday for example drive from

10 -12, 2-10 fare RM445,

fare value = 445/12 0
44.50/hour

Petrol = 70/10
7.00/hour

Commission = 89/10
8.9/hour

Weekend cashback = 60
6/hour
44.5-7-8.9+6 = 34.60 nett. Without incentive nett 28.60

You seem to able getting near rm40 per hour gross

Ok , can i know which area you running ?

your petrol rm7 include maintenance? ( not important cause even include maintenance you still earning more than rm20 per hour )

6 seater? your car?

Wow , which area? and your car must be running like a endurance race.
*
car service is almost negligeble 160/60.
Thats why i never include = RM2.67/day

I drive in KL. 4 seater. yeah typical sunday usually drive 400-500km.
The key is really to avoid jam and avoid picking up passenger thats making u wait too long. all this idle time if u calculate really cost u a lot. time is gold.
and 1 more important thing. always identify which place will surge at what time. this will boost your income

How long you have been driving grab/uber? because i dont think maintenance of rm80 per month was right .

klang area dont have boost haha , and i dont like to travel long trip . it cost me tired and thus cant drive long hour.
*
i bought engine oil and oil filter at 130 labour cost 30. my car last 2 months. i only drive so long on the sunday i have a full time job monday - saturday

so only KL i think can achieve , i am from klang , and yes sunday will be mostly no jam at KL , and you were flexi , i am hg , without the weekend cash return still can manage to get more than rm20 .

and your service must be outside .

but 400 - 500km per day was  rclxub.gif ( everyday i mean )

if 20day per month = 10,000km , can go service around 1 month each , expecting each year your car milleage increase 100,000km .

after 2-3 years  , problem should started arise , and 5years some major part should need to be replaced.

anyways thanks for your sharing .  thumbsup.gif

edit :

a normal lifetime car ( 10years ) millage was around 200-300k km . and in between there were some wear and tear already.

i have seen a kelisa with more than 500k km , city+highway , running good , but certain part cant be fix , after replaced awhile the problem came again . ( the cost of repairing was too much )

other than that , all were mostly more than 200k km still running but not on good condition. and shall any major repairing needed can consider to sell .

if we are all foreman how good was it haha .  bruce.gif
*
my car is 8 - 9 years old standing at 110k milleage (it has already depreciated to 20k). so car depreciation doesnt affect me. at most after 2 years can sell at 15k or not to sell at all if still working why bother selling (the milleage can tune one)

Hmm.. This is the problem Grab not transparent in showing us how much is the Surge.. With Uber I know the Surge, I know the pick up distance is accurate, and I can filter until the pick up distance is short.

Is it normal for Grab to give far pick up distance now? I guess I'll find out when I drive again.
*
u can approximately know if there is surge. u will know one believe me.

give u one example kl sentral - midvalley cititel RM16
i can tell u the surge is rm8-rm10

the best surge price i get is 1km pick up distance 1km drop of distance Rm8. Rm3 surge. after ddt commission is 6.40 RM3.20/km

that 40mins plus... is based on distance or on current traffic conditions? because it matters if the trip is to say...KLCC on friday at 6pm...
*
in uber it doesnt matter. because fare is calculated based on minutes. no uber driver is going to complain

are you sure?? not with upfront pricing I heard is fixed fare now.
*
never heard the news.

but uber system makes a lot more sense. to me the driver and the passenger has to borne the risk of road blocks, traffic etc.

currently, grab driver borne all the risk at a one off fare. Traffic is not always addressed in the fare. It does minimally but not sufficient in heavy traffic and imagine if KL have roadblocks at all major places how to drive. grab never do anything to address this issue

I wanted to post this a while back but lazy, now Uber gulung tikar liao.

But just to make a point, look at the picture below. Look at where my GPS location is and look at where the Grab app auto pin my pick up location?

[attachmentid=9702897]

It gets even worse when I click further into the app and click the auto detect button (the one that looks like a target). See where the app drop the pin? Siao siao. Of course, I can drag the pin to my exact location, but.. How many passengers know how to do that?

[attachmentid=9702898]

Meanwhile in Uber... Please note, I'm using both apps on the same phone, and the GPS lock is accurate.

The pin is exactly where it should be.

[attachmentid=9702899]

So, for drivers who never used the Grab rider app before, this is the rider's perspective. If you are frustrated because rider's pinned location is completely wrong, this is what riders have to deal with - a really hopeless app.
*
i always teach my passenger to manual drag and double check the pin. and most importantly call and complain to grab.

u know sometimes i reach the pick up point. the passenger is on the other side of a big ass wall. i got so frustrated

some tech are just too canggih for some riders... whenever I see some riders with certain nationalities and the location is not familiar.. I always call up. want to try some fun? go Chow kit area and get a ping that just says Chow kit monorail. have fun finding the rider 😁
*
ive got one really funny one. pick up point put in the middle of pasar malam. the name is abdullah jewi.

1)call him ask him where he is. he say pasar malam.

2)fine, then ask what landmark ada. he say got parking area. kanibu jibai the whole area is parking

3)i got so frustrated, hoi the whole area is parking la. he say near to this nasi kandar truck. kanibu. straight off cancel.

4)later i send a longass email to grab tell them to educate the user before let them use the apps. they reply will educate. duno true or not

of course i didnt go there cause i duno which end to pick up. the fact that it waste my time talking to this uneducated bugger really makes me so frustrated

One of the ways Grab can help reduce traffic congestion. Reduce Grabshare to one rider per booking, but upto 4 Grabshare pickups. Add cancellation fees to Grabshare bookings.
*
2 pickups also end up like shit u want 4 pick up. i wonder what will happen

Simple. Just switch to flexi. Dont let crap hold your balls and get blinded by incentive. Btw u sleep better the night before incentive pay day. biggrin.gif
*
Actually i duno how some ppl do maths. why not just score more surge rate instead of depending on incentive at that few peak hours. how much incentive u all get a week doing that everyday. can someone testify

If they can implement auto-cancel after 15 minutes that doesn't affect our CR like what hickups suggested (he suggested 7 minutes), that is better than the current situation.

But moosekaka complained that driver's time not compensated...

Well, current situation is, driver not only not compensated, kena punish some more.....
*
u know what they should do. after u press ive arrived. its going to charge say 50c/minute after 3 minutes waiting. if they cancel after u have press ive arrived its a penalty to them into the driver wallet.

The problem is the rider pay by cash. so how to penalty them. The approach is wrong already cashless system needs to be implemented. i fucking hate them paying by cash sometimes get broken notes
