I do have over 300 rare candies to donate to my ttar if required.

Low on pinap...got 40 lucky eggs though.

Haven't seen a wild larvitar, pupitar or ttar for quite some time already...

Honestly slowing down on my playing already.  Made a little bit more effort for special event nia.  And haven't been diligently trying to graduate. About halfway to lvl39 with a total of about 17mil xp only...how the heck did you all get above 30mil xp???  Really sifus here  notworthy.gif

MS announced ady meh?
just saw the in-game news this morning
damn fk 2 larvitar 100% i ady evolved long long time ago lol
no need sleep la just go farm after world cup lol

The chinese in-game announcement says Smack Down which is a quick move but at the same time they say cannot use charge TM to change. I think I still have a couple of Larvitars in the 90+ % range.

Srsly.. don't waste rare candies.

Still got a lot of time to stock those pinap. Besides... storage just increased.

30m is nothing lar these days. After hitting lvl40 I didn't pay attention to XP until I notice my gym group (some hit lvl40 after I did) all also above 40m and 2 of them 60m di. A lot of catching up to do.

Thing is... dunno the spawn rate since its pretty much accepted that community day spawns are not like the earlier days so might as well pinap since Ttar candies sure is useful.

Of all ppl, you asking ppl not to be greedy laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Actually, CD spawn rates are fine. Charmander day I started with over 8++ candies. When I am done with 3 evolved to big lizard and one to half lizard still left 9++ candies but I did pinap those lower cp ones

My case is that I've never fully invested into rock type. Only maxed 1x Golem while the rest are just lvl 35 fodders.

If CD Ttar really gets Smack Down as fast move.. then it should be the best (attack+bulk) rock type attacker up to Gen 4 at least.

In that case, I may need 3.

Right now I've only got 627candies... Powering from lvl20 to lvl40 needs 248 candies + 125 candies for evolution each. shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif

Hence at least 1119 candies which means I'll have to catch 123 larvitars. shocking.gif shocking.gif

So yeah.. I'm gonna need pinaps. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

The game only begins after level 35.

Right now just focus on levelling up, collect stardust (this is very important), collect candies for everything especially those pidgie, caterpie, Weedle to mass evolve during double XP events. Oh.. and save those lucky eggs too.

I've wasted millions of stardust powering up low level Pokemons that I can catch for free in the wild. Ex. Powering up an egg hatched pokemon to level 35 cost 137k stardust and 130 candies.

Also, getting from level 39 to 40 requires more XP than from lvl 1-34.
*
Level 35 will be taking a while to achieve it since I still have long way to go...(Current aim at level 30 first biggrin.gif
Will do, gathering coins, candies, stardust, egg & incense too.
And before community day, I use my coins to inventory (pokemon & item) as well buy a community day box too.

If you live in high traffic area where raids have full lobby... better just go for legendary raids for higher rewards.
*
I see 6-7 gyms around my neighbourhood, sometimes all with legendary raids but seems like no one battling it at all hmm.gif
Looking forward to try raiding the legendary raids once I reach level 30 & above with decent counters...

yes, hard work really begin at lvl30 and lvl up also harder after 30
but fun part is u can power up your mons till 30 and catch boosted 35
just hoard whatever u got now
hahah mana ada unker sniper also same la  biggrin.gif

After level 30, think i need to triple my ++points effort lol
Yup, powering up my other pokemon type for future raids / gym battle (Example: Geodude as my buddy now brows.gif

Everyone can join legendary raids regardless of their level. Having high level counters to contribute nice but not essential... just focus on surviving the raid duration minimizing revive/potion use and let others do the job tongue.gif I helped levelling up my youngest daughter's new account to lvl 30 in under 2 weeks of which the XP from legendary raids contributed a lot.

Normally folks will gather before the black egg hatch(raid start). Thats when there'll be most participants.

On buddy pokemon, its more efficient to buddy with pokemons that's rare, relevant or just to fill your pokedex. My humble 2 cents is that geodudes are pretty common in partly cloudy weather and Golems won't be relevant (it was only relevant cos it had the only fast rock move) in the near future.

If Niantic don't change anything at the last minute, the next Community Day in June 16 will introduce Smack Down as a fast move for Tyranitar. Coupled with Stone Edge, a 0% IV level 28 Tyranitar will outperform a 100% IV level 40 Golem as a rock attacker.

Speaking of future, the remaining Legendary pokemons left for Gen 3 .... Regirock, Regice, Registeel all have common counter which is Machamp.

Deoxys and Jirachi have common weakness to Tyranitar with dark type moves.

Moral of the story... Tyranitar and Machamp/Hariyama above everything laugh.gif

Good to hear that, looks like I need to join whatsap group for legendary raiding then laugh.gif
But first, need to get the remaining other pokemon type counter for backup, Example:

Fire - Charizard, Flareon & Arcanine (Still hunting for better Eevee IV so I can evolve it, miss Moltres quest previously)
Ice - Lapras (but couldn't find 1 yet, got decent counter like Cloyster / Walrein but each 1 unit)
Rock - Golem & Rhydon
Psychic - Epseon & Alakazam
Ghost - Gengar

Yup, previously I put dratini as my buddy, which I managed to collect enough candies to evolve it to Dragonite.
Will swap to other buddy once have sufficient candies to evolve the next Golems

Looking forward to next community day to get my first Tyr.

Luckily, during the fighting event, I managed to stock up enough candies for Machamp & Hariyama power-up (And At least now can whack Blissey or Chansey in Gym now) brows.gif

Trainers,

Adventurous new research is on tap during an exciting in-game celebration! Starting on May 24 at 1:00 P.M. PDT, unique Field Research will be available with some exciting rewards, including a Raid Battle appearance by Pokémon such as Aerodactyl.

Throughout the celebration, Rock-type Pokémon such as Geodude, Lileep, and Nosepass will appear more frequently in the wild. There are also incentives to trek around: your Buddy Pokémon will earn Candy 4× faster throughout the event! Plus, you’ll receive extra XP for spinning the Photo Discs at PokéStops or Gyms—up to 10 times the usual amount if this is your first time encountering a unique PokéStop or Gym!

Fortune favors the bold, Trainers, so join this adventure before it ends on June 5. Get up and GO!

Some comments

Fire - Charizard, Flareon & Arcanine (Still hunting for better Eevee IV so I can evolve it, miss Moltres quest previously)
--> Fire is not very useful in the meta. Nice to have but not essential. Don't need to waste resource on it.

Ice - Lapras (but couldn't find 1 yet, got decent counter like Cloyster / Walrein but each 1 unit)
--> Also not useful in the meta since Ice types of weak attack. Just use some high level wild caught spheals and evolve them into Walreins.

Rock - Golem & Rhydon
--> Adventure week is on... Golems aplenty everywhere. Rhydon not useful in meta now but Rhyperior in Gen 4 could be formidable. Just collect candies. More importantly is the upcoming community day Tyranitar if you need rock type attackers. That said, Rock types were only useful during the earlier Gen1 Legendary Birds time... Don't see any real use for it now. Buddy something more rare for pokedex entry or future use.

Psychic - Epseon & Alakazam
--> Non-legendary wise.... Exeggutor is a more cost efficient choice. Eggs are everywhere and only cost 50 candies to evolve. No need to walk them like Espeon. Besides, there's not much use for psychic type now with the exception of Machamp raids.... its only useful to reduce damage from gym defenders Zen Headbutt and such.

Ghost - Gengar
--> Only for pokedex entry. Gengar's very very fragile and Shadow Claw cannot be obtained anymore. Ghost is only super effective against other ghost type (which you don't see in gyms) and Psychic types (this can be handled better by Tyranitar). Ghost type moves are resisted by normal type and ineffective against dark type means its quite useless against at least 1/2 to 2/3 a typical gym composition.

My recommendation is to build team for meta first and follow 1qaz1qaz famous "gotta hoard em all" strategy.

For gyms, my recommendation once you reach lv 30 for a starter party of 6 for best coverage are:

1) Machamp/Hariyama with counter/dynamic punch
2) Machamp/Hariyama with counter/dynamic punch
3) Machamp/Hariyama with counter/dynamic punch
4) Tyranitar with Bite/Crunch
5) Exeggutor with Bullet seed/Solar beam
6) Dragonite with Dragon Tail/Outrage

The above combo with 1 or 2 extra Machamp/Hariyama and Tyranitar respectively can cover the whole meta already.

Reasons -

The first 3 fighting types (maybe even a 4th) takes care of Blissey, Snorlax, Chansey, Slaking, Tyranitar, Steel and Ice types.
Tyranitar is for those Psychic/Fairy types that ppl slot in to force a change from fighting types ie. Gardevoir, Slowbro/king, Azumarill, Wigglytuff.
Exeggutor if there's a big water type Milotic, Gyarados, Vaporeon in the gym else you can also substitute this with another Tyranitar for general work. , S
Dragonite for Dragonite or Salamence and as a generalist if there's a fire type in the gym.

My own go-to team are:

1) Mewtwo - psycho cut/ focus blast
2) Machamp - Counter/ Dynamic punch
3) Tyranitar - Bite/Stone Edge
4) Raikou - Thundershock/ Wild charge
5) Dragonite - Dragon Breath/ Dragon Claw
6) Machamp - counter/ Dynamic Punch

shhhhhhh i just hoard for my own satisfaction laugh.gif

alvintan84 yes in general fighting type is a good to have and Machop is somewhat like pidgey due to weather and about a month or two ago there are like 3-4 100% Machop pop up daily but now without map haha doh.gif

anyway for now spin as much stop as u can to stock up balls/pinap for community day and end of the day just evolve the high cp/iv larvitar u got.
dont bother if low or high iv as u will have a tons of candies to spare. high cp once evolved straight can be use without using any dust.

hi lvl25 casual player here who left the game since 2016.
Now come back to have some fun with my kids but feel like the meta and pokemon species change a lot.
play style is normal day catch some pokemon only weekend would participate 1-2 raid or gym battle.

i try to sync my outdated info with current latest game meta and database, unfortunately there are too much for me to learn...
make me blur blur when looking at them. not sure the info i get are still valid or not...
looking for a lot of guide from sifu here to help me back and enjoy the game.

How should i deal with my current old top Gen 1 pokemon? i have (some has use TM);
lvl27 Machamp IV100  Counter, DP
lvl28 Machamp IV89  BP, DP
lvl27 Gyarados IV93 WF,HP
lvl25 Exeggutor IV91 Confusion, Psychic
lvl25 Flareon IV100 Ember, FB
lvl19 Vaporeon IV87 WG, HP
lvl21 Lapras IV80 FB, Blizzard
lvl20 Arcanine IV91 FF, Flamethrower
lvl21 Rhydon IV82 MS,SE
lvl15 Gengar IV96 Hex, FB

1st should i power up Vaporeon as water attacker? i do not have mighty kyogre  sad.gif

2nd Flareon 100 & Arcanine 91, which should i focus train as fire attacker?

3rd Exeggutor with legacy MS, should i use TM to get solar beam? i do not have decent grass type attacker (only have 1 Venusaur CP1515 bad IV  VW, Solar Beam)

4th shoud i continue power up Rhydon with only IV82...

5th what do you think about Lapras and Gengar?

thansk in advance for all the advise  rclxms.gif

lvl15 Zapdos IV84 CB, ZC (catch from research quest)
lvl20 Beldum IV87 (walk as buddy would evo to metagross)
lvl20 Larvitar IV82 (obtain from egg)

1st, should i use TM for Latios/Latias in order to get Dragon moveset use as Dragon attacker? ( i dunt have D9....  cry.gif even 1.... cry.gif )

2nd, should i power up Zapdos with RC as electric type attacker?

3rd,  metagross or tyranitar, which should i focus to get 1st?
as you all know my current lvl is low and without impressive strong monster which hardly for me to participate or have fun with most of the raid or battle... i need to build a "ok ok" army team 1st to open the door for me to access getting those great legendary.

else i would only see people catching big raid boss or wait luck to come for me.... cry.gif  cry.gif

kindly help ya.

TBH, only machamp 100% worth powering up. However, you should focus on:
1. Doing more raids - tyranitar and machamp.
2. Target ex-raid gyms to get Mewtwo.
3. Grinding up XP - target to hit level 30 in 1 week; and quickly grind up to 35.
4. Grind up stardust - its never enough.
5. Stock up candy and candidates - look for nests / higher spawns during weather boost periods.

Hi Guys,

I'm level 29 player & return player since 2016.
Curious to know what player level does you attempt for Raid Tier Level 4 & 5?
Managed to get 3 Zapdos & powered up some all type Pokemon during the leveling & quest process lately:

1. Dragonite CP 3031 Steel Wing & Hyper Beam
2. Gyarados CP 2758 Waterfall & Hydro Pump
3. Vaporeon CP 2674 Water Gun & Water Pulse
4. Snorlax CP 2632 Lick & Hyper Beam
5. Machamp CP 2590 Bullet Punch & Heavy Slam
6. Gyarados CP 2589 Bite & Dragon Pulse
7. Flareon CP 2444 Ember & Fire Blast
8. Rhydon CP 2233 Mud-Slap & Stone Edge
9. Jolteon CP 2109 Thunder Shock & Thunderbolt
10. Gengar CP 2084 Hex & Shadow Ball

Appreciate the feedback, thanks!

P.S: Who's joining the Charmander Community Day tomorrow?  biggrin.gif

All have better options available now. No use wasting resources. Except your machamp - if atk 15 and iv high, can consider pumping. Else, my suggestion is similar to above.

Good luck to the both of you!!
