miui 9.2.3.0 is the problematic global rom that was pulled down after being released for just a few days.

by that time plenty of reseller sudah download and force flash (testpoint method) that rom into their units already, and sell it as "global rom" units.

many who bought that phone can use, but since 9.2.6.0 was released there was an update prompt on these units. unsuspecting people terus update and that caused their phone to brick.

since you have these units, either you dont update forever (turn off auto update too) or you open back cover, testpoint flash a china rom (stable or developer both oso can) and then request unlock bootloader. after kautim unlock then you can flash the new 9.2.6.0 global rom.

that's what i have been doing with my 1st gen moto G. but after a while other issue crop up, apps lag/hang/force close by itself and i dowan to go factory reset it, so i got myself this redmi and gonna move everything over. once done baru i factory reset and sell it off.

with proper tools, you wont see any mark left behind from opening the cover. i dont have such tools but i heard a guitar pick is very helpful. just make sure to remove the sim tray before opening the cover.

if you dont mind abit of hassle you can testpoint flash, unlock and flash oficial global rom as described before and in the end you'll still have yourself a bargain.

actually lanfang set bad meh? mine oso lanfang set, oso production 11/2017, but so far i have not encountered any issue when using it on official china rom lah. screen ok saja.

last night after flash i just scroll abit and went to sleep so i havent really play around to check out how it was in global rom, except the slight lag/unresponsiveness that maybe i was too sensitive about.

once you get the approval sms, activate developer options and bind your mi account before downloading the unlock tool.
binding require you to downloap a vpn app and activate a china server beforehand. if you dont vpn to china server, you'll kena error 10008.

but i have a hunch that you may encounter error 8XXXX which means the rom doesnt allow binding so u can only testpoint a china rom and repeat.

Bootloop because 9.2.3.0 was force flashed without unlock bootloader. With all new models, xiaomi has made it to be a must to unlock bootloader in order to flash an official global rom. So when you update to the new rom but has not unlock bootloader before, koyak.

If you can get bootloader unlocked on your 9.2.3.0 then good. You can safely update to 9.2.6.0 using fastboot. But most probably u would encounter error that made it you cant bind account to unlock.

activate developer options, and see if your bootloader is locked or unlocked. if unlocked you should be safe. if locked, unlock it.

maybe your set is official set with official rom, and OTA update wont brick it unlike others, but my advice is just trying to be on the safe side.

i had no problem, downloaded both full rom and fastboot rom before which eventually i flashed using fastboot. had already deleted both otherwise i can upload to dropbox kasi share.

9.2.3.0 isnt exactly fake, it was an official release but only for a short while, xiaomi removed it from official list after discovering bugs. since it was only available for short time, there isnt enough time for ppl to go through the unlock bootloader waiting time, plus for reseller, mana dia mau cari so many mi account id to request unlock? so they go and force flash it without unlocking. sure they managed to get it run on the device but then when 9.2.6.0 came up in the OTA, that's when shit hits the fan.

if u kena error 86006 testpoint flash is the only way forward

for full rom, no need extract, just rename as update.zip and straight throw into phone root folder and kasi flash via recovery. but some ppl in forum say thet get invalid file error.


for fastboot : http://en.miui.com/a-234.html (scroll down the list and look for "Redmi 5 Plus Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File Download" and click on it the file will be downloaded automatically)

i extracted the fastboot rom using winzip. as mentioned by another forumer yesterday, it would first extract to a .tar file which would then need to be extracted again to get a folder.

lol, i guess they'll just testpoint flash a china rom kasi lu. i dunno if they could instead testpoint flash 9.2.6.0 in. would be interesting to know.

once u kautim unlock bootloader, u flash apa rom oso can.

you should give mi max 2 a try

for low light photos, i think samsung S7 & S8 is very good.

lens is one thing, sensor is another, then you need to have a good camera software to take advantage of the hardwares. it all comes in a package.
