I remember i read somewhere that we possibly gonna get update for 4k 60fps.
Did the rumor still hold up? Or Samsung decide to drop it because it only possible with Exynos variant?
*
Samsung decided to drop it. If not, it would be unfair to the SD835 Note 8 users. Next year SD845 will have the 4k 60/120fps capability. This also mean that the same feature will only be "unbanned" for the next generation Exynos in 2018 (S9 & Note 9).

Wow... Note 8 has 'dust detection' feature? I am new to know...  blush.gif
*
It's a new feature introduced since S8/S8+. Mainly due to the position of the fingerprint is closed next to the camera screen. It's a "caring" message from Samsung to remind you to clean the camera screen if you accidentally touched it while using the fingerprint sensor consistently.

QUOTE(LoUiz0r @ Nov 28 2017, 04:06 PM)
the paint between volume and bixby button peel off. What shoud i do? go get a wrap skin? or can take back to samsung for repaint?
*
It's a well known QC issue for midnight black units, especially for Note 8 & S8/S8+. Assuming that you have been using the device for more than 1 week. Even if you bring it back to Samsung SC, they would only see it as cosmetic wear and tear and they won't entertain you at all. So there's nothing you can do about it. Just use some casing to cover it up and ignore it.

QUOTE(xHj09 @ Nov 28 2017, 06:02 PM)
Found out the cause, chrome was causing my phone to lag very badly, lol. It was also draining my battery when I use fb and messenger way more. 8 hours from 100 to 38% when usually I should still have 50% at this time of day after work. Chrome ate about 13% while my heavily used apps only used 3%.

Force stop, clear cache and memory (12mb) seems to have solved the lagginess. Will monitor first.
*
Unless Chrome is important in your daily usage, if not, may be you can ditch it and disable it. Use Samsung Internet instead. It's fast, very smooth, got Adblock extension, and also battery friendly.

i started this discussion  tongue.gif
i doesn't use finger print sensor at all since day, and from time to time cleaning the dust on the camera
every time when i got this message, i check the camera glass, it is clean and no dust
*
Really? Then it's either the Samsung software overdone it, or your phone camera is too sensitive.

AFAIK, the reason why samsung created that message is because they assume users would accidentally touched the camera len whenever they are trying to use finger print sensor. So the message would pop up if the system find out the camera lens is smudged. This info was discussed during the S8 release time. That's why I thought that the same thing would happened to our Note 8 as well.

As for me, my camera is always clean. I also never use the finger print sensor since day 1. And I never encounter that message everytime I use the camera, no matter in what condition.

Notes on Note 8:

1) After update, phone heats up and drains battery
2) Service provider name suddenly missing from notification bar
3) "Clean dust error message" reminders pop up many times
      - possible due to finger print sensor too close to camera lens
      - also receiving error frequent msgs, when the camera lens are clean & no
          dust
4) Bixby poor response to voice
5) Chrome
6) Color paint peeling off

LOL. No need to be so panic. Some of them are due to the bugs and most likely they will be rectified in the future by the software update. When one is using smartphone, bugs and problems are expectable from time to time. No one could escape.

Also, point 1 & 5 could happened to any other smartphone brands. They are not limited to Samsung phone only.

WoW! Really? Perhaps it is monthly OTA security update. Highly doubt it is Oreo/8.0 update.
*
Indeed. I doubt that we will get the Oreo so soon. Currently S8 is in beta test. So S8 probably will be the first Samsung phone to receive Oreo next year, while Note 8 will be the next. And based on the previous records from SME, my best guess is around March or April 2018.

Usually, every samsung flagship phones will receive 2 major updates before Samsung completely ignore the phone. For Note 8, is that mean we will only receive upcoming orea and other 1? Or oreo doesnt count? Becoz samsung stucked at Nougat for way too long. Will be better if they can keep an update for Note 8 for longer period becoz these phone just released only about 1-2 months.
*
Theoretically, yes. But the recent rumors suggested that we may have 3 major updates in the future, which are, Oreo - Android P - Android Q. Nothing is confirmed yet at this moment. We will wait and see, and hope for the best.

Does any one know how to setting answer phone call by using fingerprint sensor like unlock the phone using fingerprint sensor ?

Sadly to say, no. This feature is not available in Samsung phones. I do know that Huawei and Asus phones do have the feature though.

Hey guys, I have an important question here.

I heard some people complained that if you have Samsung Screen Protection, you won't be able to buy Samsung Smart Warranty (extended warranty). You can't buy them seperately. Is this true?

thought can be purchase before the due of standard warranty? i have a N8 during preorder, i plan to buy smart warranty later as well  hmm.gif
*
If yours is pre-order unit, then it should be already covered by the Samsung Protection Plus since it's part of the pre-order freebies.

http://www.samsung.com/my/support/smartcar...ction-plus.html

And to answer your question, yes. The extend warranty could be bought before the due of standard warranty. But the problem is if one already have the Samsung screen protection in advance (like me), their system won't allow you to extend the warranty (Smart warranty) in future. You must buy both plans in one go. If you bought one of the plans, then you cannot buy another one. Their system works that way. That's how I heard from the others. Which I think it's kind of ridiculous. For such a big company like Samsung, you would have thought that they could solve this simple matter. doh.gif

QUOTE(WaNaWe900 @ Dec 10 2017, 04:10 PM)
guess I missed it  icon_question.gif
*
Although you missed the opportunity to buy the screen protection, at least you still can purchase the smart warranty within one year. That's much more important compared to screen protection. While I don't have such privillege. May be I should make a complaint and see what's their response. Afterall, they are the one who provided the seperate plan to the customers during roadshow.

I rechecked. The answer is yes. Pre-order units are covered by Samsung screen protection + smart warranty. So your are safe.

I am currently using the cable supplied with the phone to charge my phone via a usb pc connector (usb 1.0/2.0). Currently on 65%, and it needs 2h 12m to be charged till 100%. Is it that slow?
*
It's normal. Charging from PC power is definitely slower compared to charging from wall charger. So nothing to worry about.

So basically, this was the update which already been received in other countries since last month. I wonder why SME took it so long for releasing it in here.

This update (***BQKG) release 17-Dec-2017, so we kinda fast received it.. even Poland & few other EU not yet released.
*
The release date & the security patch are indeed the latest, but the content of the improvement details are not. AFAIK, the exact same update (800mb+) already been released in Taiwan & India since last 2 weeks. The update details (Dex error, Live focus improvement) is completely the same. Their code might be different with us though.

Perhaps I should put it this way. Our update is considered late compared to other South East Asia countries.

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Dec 19 2017, 05:32 PM)
Considered fast. Even my korean set also didn't get the update yet.
*
IINM, Korean set should have been updated since last month. Korea set would always be the first to receive update (for exynos variant). Check again.

Yeah turns out I already have it for like a month ago, and yeah i'm on it already. But I don't remember it being 800mb at least, the reason why I did not assume it came out yet  laugh.gif
*
Oh I see. Then it's ok. Yeah. I remember it was 800mb. The reason why I can still remember because I was waiting for Note 8's first update eagerly. And when the news came out they said it''s about 800mb+ update, I was so happy and thought we would receive it very soon (I remember I posted the news before in this thread). Guess what? We received the 500mb update first instead of 800mb, which I thought it's odd. And when I assumed they skipped the 800mb update for us, now suddenly the 800mb update (which supposed to be released first) finally came to us. Haha. rclxub.gif rclxms.gif
