Hope he recovers soon. I have been impressed with his drive in the Williams. That being said, I think it's time to replace Latifi.

I know but that's not my point in my post above. I'm questioning head to head in the same car, you think LH will win double than MV?? You regard so highly of LH or so lowly of MV??

Even WDC is just stats, that's why I don't consider either MS or LH as the GOAT.
*
Yeah, I'm not sure LH can straightaway beat MV. maybe on par but not beat him. Even MS was left in the dust by NR.

Sometimes luck also a huge factor in every race. If you had Ferrari challenging you, chances are you will get lucky with whatever weird decision they made along the way. Just like how Lewis was lucky enough to win the British GP on 3 wheels.

Honestly FIA opened a can of worms and they will never be able to satisfy those fella anymore after AD21. AD21 will always be used as reference for SC restart despite it being the wrong one. People are now starting to be bored with RB dominance that they wanted to have the same thing over again. Max drove a brilliant race in Monza and yet Ferrari are complaining like a sore loser despite every decision with the SC were done in accordance with the rules that were clarified in the aftermath of AD21. I dont even like Max but I dont even want to give Ferrari half a chance to fiight for the victory given their arrogance after making multiple high profile questionable decisions with their pit stops throughout the year.
*
The last (very) good luck Ferarri had was when Kimi won the Championship for them, his chances was very slim but he won nonetheless. If good luck was with them the years since, I have no doubt Alonso, Vettel would have won a few championships with them, maybe some more with Kimi too.

For GR, I think have to wait until year end if he could really stay ahead of LH. If he does, have to give credit to him, doesn't mean he is better than LH but surely he is a force to be reckoned with if he can keep LH behind in the standings within a 22 race calendar. But subsequently he might end up like DR who stormed in RB by beating SV but now look how bad he is.
Kimi was lucky that Mclaren imploded with the clash of FA vs LH. That year should have been won by FA if not for the Hungary fiasco.
*
That's what I meant, luckiest year.

Is there a saying that goes, Hard Work breeds Luck?

I'm still a Ferrari fan since 1999, harder to do so nowadays ... after watching Mercedes YouTube series back in 2017/18(?) where they showed their team daily workings in home factory; the thing that strikes me most is that they got day & night shifts ... so, can say 24hrs round the clock working.  Does Ferrari factory in Moderna do that, at least in recent years?  Or the other teams based in UK?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, although I'm not a fan of LH (nothing against him either), I do admit LH & Merc deserved all their WDCs and WCCs, and understood how they are able to catch up last season and looks like this season as well.

That said, I prefer MV to win last season ... I could use the reason being MV deserved it more if not due to his DNFs or the shunt caused by VB; but my main reason is ... I don't want to see LH overtook Schumi with 8th WDC ... both at 7 WDCs is fine by me. biggrin.gif

Both MS & LH are GoATs (of their era) ... sadly Ayrton Senna could've won more WDCs, and he is one of the GoATs ... and several others also (never-ending debate  tongue.gif )
*
No doubt Ferrari has been working hard, well all the teams actually but luck still plays some part and to some extent FIA politics.

Hahaha yeah, they replace France with China and add Vegas, so now got 3 US races, the most of any countries! They really want to expand the US market.
*
Even more tired for US races, racing in wee hours of the morning our time. Hopefully they make it night races.

I thought classic 80s F1 used 2 have 4 US races in 1 calendar laugh.gif

But in the 80s there weren't live races, just delayed telecasts late nights on TV2.

There's an article saying similar but I think he's just not fast enough and he easily got a F1 seat due to his name. He got beaten and now still barely able to match the previously ousted KMag shows that he's average at best. In the junior formula, he was also barely able to win the title and actually never really a stand out driver, often beaten on pure pace by others. I think to be good in F1, usually they were dominating the junior categories
*
This statement reminds me of a certain Minardi driver, got his seat not due to his name but due to Magnum backing sweat.gif .

Yeah, race was also delayed for 1 hour despite still raining. It was a great show as it mixes up the riders up and down.

Unfortunately, the changes to F1 cars might mean we will never get real wet race ever again. They are literally kissing the tarmac nowadays. Not to mention the cars are 200KG heavier than those V10 days, let alone being bigger etc.
*
QUOTE(6UE5T @ Oct 4 2022, 12:12 AM)
Ya been like that for don't know how many years already, now probably worse.
*
FIA should let them go regardless as this is team issue, up to them to raise the cars for wet races. It will definitely spice up the show. I remember years ago they had this little like 2 inch windscreen in front of the cockpit to repel water lol.

They literally swept the track dry for an hour, otherwise it's full wet.

It didn't dry up with some wet patches left. Should have used wets, then intermediates, then maybe slicks instead of intermediates and slicks.

FIA going out of their way to hand RB the WDC... expecting them to taichi and allowed them to keep the title by any means. That's why now busy cooking their accounts.

Yeah, RB most probably overspent 10k buying Max a birthday cake and a buffet dinner for every staff who attended the party. Oh well...  rolleyes.gif  rolleyes.gif  rolleyes.gif

Give this year's win early coz will take back last year's lol.

Btw next 3 races will be tough on us, 3am, 4am and 2am.

Reminds me, while watching his battle with Alonso I was thinking, 1 thing I definitely won't miss about Vettel is his boring speeches after winning a race. Also his best years was when he had Webber as a team-mate. Webber was the only tem-mate who could push Vettel hard in the races.

Have to say, having watched both in the flesh, motogp is louder than F1. A lot louder. closest thing to getting a feel of the old days F1.
*
Pre turbo era F1 was quite louder, 2 stroke 500cc MotoGP era was even louder.
