i think his problem with the pictures, the ones of the girls, were not because of handshake.. but more of,
you press shutter halfway down, so it locks focus... .then u take ur time to compose... TOO LONG time, until the girls move out of focus. and THEN u press all the way down...that time, pic OOF di.

like the guy above said, u need to be quick. also, for beginners, dont' start with manual mode. screws up all ur pictures, for u're not fast enough to play with ur dials (exposure and aperture) and the other is , u cna't get the prope composition you want.
stick to aperture / program for these kinda events - wedding, modeeling etc. learn how to use ur camera first before moving up to Manual. i'm speaking from experience .screwed up a lot of shots because i tot i'll be more 'pro' if i use manual.

also, don't bother about ISO too much. leave it as high as u can take it. dont' leave it to say 400 and try to take in mid/ low light conditions. pump it to 800 - 1000. train one thing at time. and composition and sharpness should be first IMHO.

NEW: SUPER GT ROADSHOW, Berjaya Times Square!

Vol 1: 50mm 1.8D in action
Vol 2: Local race queens
Vol 3: Super Gt race queens: Aki & Momo

now i present u Vol 1: 50mm 1.8D in action. This contains pics taken using the 50mm prime lens, and i using it for the 1st time. I would appreciate some C&C coz i need to learn what i lacking from my pics. Seriously i have a hard time taking pics using 50mm lens. sweat.gif

As u can see the last 2 pics i was suffering from overexpose. I wonder what i need to prevent this?

My advice to you is use P-mode, dun dabble with Manual mode and manual focusing if you're working under stressful environments like event portraits coz if you're not extremely familiar with your camera, it'll wreck your images.

I was using p mode and A mode most of the time while using the 50mm lens. I did tried using M mode which make me puke blood.

As afs mentioned, the problem is its hard to focus when the subject is keep on moving and posing different pose constantly. That explains only the pros can use 50mm lens for such events, and the majority uses zoom/kit lens for such shoots.

Lesson learn. Thanks for ur words smile.gif

Next one, PC Fair, hope it is much better coz the models will stand rather than constant posing. Also hope my skills will improve. sweat.gif tongue.gif

I reffering to the 50mm lens, which i found difficuly using that lens for constant changes of the subject. It uses manual focus, not af-s lens.

Well lesson learnt that my d40 with 50mm lens is sucky for model posing. But dont worry, i have taken some shots with my kit lens which is af-s, so normal service will resume shorty tongue.gif

For me, i prefer the AF-S + VR combo! brows.gif

Professionals dun use only 50mm lenses, they're very familiar with all their lenses and their camera bodies, hence they have 1001 ways to capture good images, that's the difference between amateur and professional photography ... 'common sense' tongue.gif

The reason was for pics no 2,3, n 4 the models were standing at the stand above us, so there nothing much i can do as well as the other photographers. sweat.gif

Cant say chin chai shot, the reason is as models are changing pose and position constantly, u have to be quick to get good shots. I only chopped pic no 2.
