Toyota used to sell the XV50 camry at sub 140k for a base 2.0l model.
Now they price the base model which is for 1) a 2.5l which means road tax will kill a lot of interest and 2) with a starting price of 189k
WTF were they thinking? So, i deduced that UMW Toyota and Honda Malaysia has always been market rivals. Now that they have nothing else to compete at, they try to compete at seeing who is dumber and can pull more stupid tricks than the other company.
the best excuse of car prices in malaysia : CBUNow they price the base model which is for 1) a 2.5l which means road tax will kill a lot of interest and 2) with a starting price of 189k

Can CKD, will be 15-20k lower.
If honda want to play, fight with their 2.0T accord with 10 speeder button shifters! Price make it close to 200k. The 1.5T is just too sissy for cars of D segment.

JIT is really really advance lar....maybe thailand has some form of it, but over here quite difficult. Even really big/advanced manufacturers also find it hard to do this in malaysia...The road conditions not predictable already, how to JIT? Some more, need to link the procurement system with supplier, macam mana ni....a bit of labour cost increase already scream through the pages in newspapers, lagi mau invest duit to link their ERP....
More like production scheduling with advance buffer.

I know Pagoh has their R&D division. But they are mostly consisting of employees whose focus is to look into suppliers to manufacturer that manufactures parts for them based on existing schematics and drawings and not really redesigning and putting those things through rigorous testing again to ensure their fit doesn't cause problems in the future.
Sounds more like quality assessment work than R&D work....
