There's always better than "good enough". Lots of small but significant things for me that can be done by rooting, and rooting must unlock bootloader. Can't explain all the small root features cuz it's personal to me and might not apply to you.

List of my apps that uses root:
user posted image

Especially Tasker, Titanium backup, adblock and substratum. Also nova launcher with root can allow me swipe down anywhere on homescreen to show notifications, which I am super used to it and cannot let go.

I only remember I root during the early android days where Samsung TW was so heavily laced with bloatware it would be impossible not to root. Nowadays, I dont bother. One, stock android like Oxygen is 'slick' enough, two android phones are better spec'ed now and three, I dont really have the time to troubleshoot here and there when the phone runs into problems.

QUOTE(sharpex @ Sep 23 2017, 05:44 PM)
I prefer stock and not rooted. Still smooth and silky. Will rooted later if needed.
*
+1 . Same here.

QUOTE(k@|i0s @ Sep 23 2017, 05:47 PM)
Hand itchy to root phone 😂😂
*
I would guess that would be the main reason. Unless the phone is not supported by Oneplus, which I would estimate to be years away, then maybe would I think about rooting. But since I change my phone each time a new iteration comes out, I would think otherwiese. laugh.gif

Well your mileage may vary and everyone has different preference. As I said my main reason to root is some very personal preference for certain features, which might not seem to be a need for you (that's why I didn't even list what are those). Not only root to debloat.

Anyway root or no root is a preference thing, we don't need a conclusion of is it really needed or not. There's no right or wrong. If you don't have the need then that's fine for your usage haha.

U are not using stock rom right?
Have u tried? I still the same issue.
*
Stock ROM but rooted with magisk - just tried, maybank app working already
Need to tick the box for the app inside magisk manager's magisk hide then reboot

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Sep 23 2017, 05:18 PM)
I see many of you all rooting and unlocking the boot loader here. The stock fw not good enough? I feel that stock Oxygen is light and slick enough already. Not much bloatware and unwanted software.
*
Why be good enough when it can be even better?
I'm just used to having root access and giving me ability to do more just like what zelleonhart is doing

And I'm running modded apps such as iYTPB via Magisk (modded youtube to playback with screen off and skip ads), AdAway, Substranum

Is your charger plugged into a properly grounded socket?
You might want to try it on a different socket

Have you tried charging it at a different place other than your house using the same charger?
I have no issue with it, not sure about other members.

Meanwhile, I look through the OnePlus forum link you shared earlier and found this to be an interesting read - https://blog.dell.com/en-us/notebook-tingle...-39-s-going-on/

I'm considering this phone to purchase. Can this phone gives SOT around 4.5-5hrs hours based on the recent update.

My usage would be Data on 24hrs, Whatsapp,FB, Gmail, Ymail, Company email sync every 15min. FB around 1-2hrs a day, Call 1-2 Hrs, a few sms.

In terms of hardware, they're all the same.
If you're getting the AP version, make sure the unit comes with Oxygen OS instead of the Hydrogen OS which is designed more for the chinese market.

If not, you can always flash Oxygen OS yourself

May I know what phone are you using now?

Judging from my experience, it should be able to meet your needs in terms of battery life.
If not, the dash charging is pretty fast if you need a quick top-up. I was able to get from 20% to 85% within 30-35 mins.
