10-5 are the worst hours to drive on weekdays.
10am is already after the morning peak hours.
5pm is just when the evening peak hours is starting.

Reschedule to start earlier and end later.

Maybe he want to avoid the traffic rush hour, stuck in jam but with fixed fare doh.gif

I used to drive that kind of hour also, but, I also drive at night. Usually, distance wise, ok lah, average got lah rm8-12 after deducting 20%. Average per day got lah rm100+...but, towards the end, more and more promotion, more and more tempang riders, very difficult to hit rm100 jor....most of ride below rm5 one bangwall.gif

Your current job is 10-5 only?
Most people work 8 hours excluding lunch break. Add traveling time it's more like 10 hours.

But even if you are willing to work harder as a Uber driver, bear in mind that you will lose epf (employer portion) and other benefits.
*
Yup, don't forget, if you fall sick, u not only no income, u got to pay your own medical bill oso....

and, touchwood, the longer time you on the road, the higher chance you accident, and accident, although can covered under insurance (grey area), but, definitely, you lost your income source again

used to be dynamic but changed to compete with Grab's fixed fare. Uber still uses the same rate to calculate the upfront fare but then is way lower than Grab. Grab is RM0.90/km and RM0.20/min.
*
somehow the the fare when rider pay similar for both, +/- RM1-RM2....

As riders, I usually choose whichever is lower biggrin.gif

As drivers, that's why I stop driving for Uber bye.gif

maybe for short trips the difference is minimal, this should explain why long trips Uber is way cheaper if you notice.
*
Errr....not sure your definition of short or long trip, mine usually around 10-20km rolleyes.gif

I am going on a scheduled leave clearance next week.
Maybe I should try driving Uber for >12 hours a day and see how it goes.
Target : rm200 nett a day

Let's see how it goes hahaha...
*
QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Oct 29 2017, 01:51 PM)
> 12 hours a day confirm can get RM200 a day. if not really can throw away dont drive Uber anymore.

Taking Grab for example. HP block X 10 hours enough. With 3 trips per hour is gross RM400 for 10 hours work.
This is a realistic figure considering some blocks will be UP or MP. and sometimes you are only able to do 2 trips per block. on average should be around 2.5 trips per block in a day.
*
Depends lah, what if he drive 12 hours, but, at those non peak hours to avoid jam?

When I last time drive full time, I start at 11-12pm, and stop for lunch 1-2 hours, then, continue till almost 5pm, start back at 8pm till 1-2am, most of time don't hit rm200 also biggrin.gif

Anyway, that was my choice lah, to avoid morning rush hours, and I am also later riser person...... laugh.gif plus, I emphasized on having dinner with family, something seems very minor for some of you, but, consider luxury for me when working as employee (due to traffic condition and office distance, by time reach home also almost 8pm cry.gif )

either all (new) drivers busy driving, coz high demand coz all seasoned drivers know Grab pay better, but lesser demand coz higher supply, no time borak borak here, or all move to Grab platform.... biggrin.gif

Why don't we organize a uber boycott campaign? Accept trips but refused to pick up all passengers?
*
Why want to make rider life hard, although I agree some riders really pain in the ass type.....just stop driving for Uber can already lah, no need boycott campaign. When they got demand, riders, but, no drivers, they will changed. Simple economy 101, demand and supply.

No point if just survive but not competing. Nowadays saw a lot of uncles and aunties driving axia with their uber/grab apps on. Seems like a new retirement trend among the middle age.
*
sukak diorang lah......they just wanna kill time, at same time talk to some one, or explore new places. laugh.gif

Making money is secondary for them, the fare just like their lunch cost to them...

For you guys driving full time, or for intention of making some money, with almost every week petrol price increase, good luck sweat.gif Double pity for those purposely bought new car just for it sweat.gif sweat.gif

Maybe new cars not yet feel it yet, after few years, daily almost 300-400km travel, your car definitely need major overhaul, another big chunk of money out, or usual car life cycle, if properly maintained, can last easily 5-7 years or 200k-250k km, before major overhaul required, but, driving Uber/ Grab, after 2-3 years your car feel similar to 5-7 years car jor.....then, u forced to either do major overhaul, and constant repair and maintainance, or forced sell it off coz every month repair cost also almost like new instalment. cry.gif

No need wait 5 years, at the rate of petrol increasing like this, and cheap fare with ever increasing tempang riders, many drivers will stop driving themselves...... laugh.gif

Uber nowadays tries to trick driver. U will get a ping with surge 2.0x but the upfront fare is no where near that figure. So they keep riders happy and screw the drivers.
*
it's not uber screwed u, it's the rider not stupid.....for seasoned riders, they will know roughly how much the fare..imagine, if far distance, surge 2x some more, unless the fella really urgent, they will request. Else, nearby trip, tutup mata jer lah......

Imagine if no surge, lagi u cry.....

Therefore, conclusion, chasing surge is stupidiest thing to do biggrin.gif

Don't know how much Uber spends on advertisements of late.
But really, they should save these money, and improve remuneration for drivers instead.

*
Lol.....if u open a company, u got spare money, will you spend on advertising hopefully to boast sales or give staff a pay rise? 95% of company will take the first option, Uber included biggrin.gif

What are the purposes of advertising?
1. to introduce a product or service to consumers
2. to influence consumers' decision

Now, both Uber and Grab are well known. No introduction needed.

As for the second purpose, once a person has decided to use e-hailing service, the next question is:
Grab or Uber?

Two factors will determine her choice:
a. fare
b. waiting time

It's easy to compare fares. But Uber loses out on waiting time, because of fewer drivers...
*
Question will be, the Uber/ Grab user population % total population in KL who self drive.

If you allowed me to quote from the book Blue Ocean Strategy, your arguement is talking about competion between Uber and Grab, competing in Red Ocean. But, my argument is talking about creating a new "market" (litterally lah, since both ride sharing is exist for quite some time biggrin.gif ), unconetested Blue Ocean by converting those self-drive car owner to take Uber/ Grab, thus reducing traffic jam.

Drive Axia can lar, other cars kinda gg also.
My 1.6L car can keep for myself.
Online Grab, if destination is heading to my next location - then I will take  biggrin.gif
*
But then many riders will give Axia driver 1 star sweat.gif and they got banned in no time due to low rating. And, lesser and lesser Uber car on road, the demised of Uber, back to taxi whistling.gif

Riders should be given a drop down menu, that only allows them to rate 5.0 or 4.5
*
Lel....liddat as well no need rate.........anyway, what is the min rating before the driver got suspended now? Used to be 4.3

But, if now most of riders rate 4, in no time, sure very fast got suspended....
