Confirmed the 5Ghz faulty even with Asus Stock Firmware.
Opening a support case with Asus and see how to RMA China unit.

Any update on your RMA? Does ASUS malaysia fix China unit as well? I don't mind if they charge a bit.

mine got wireless issue as well.

2g wireless seem failed to launch, and it keep rebooting.
if success to light up, it unable to connect for no reason.

reset, flashing back old firmware, whatever solution try also cant get it to work. sad.gif

return back to seller and hope for refund.

Mine just happened few hours ago with 5ghz

Initially could not even access the wifi settings without restoring to factory default

Tried off and on the radio didn't work
Tried changing region also didn't work
Tried old firmware also didn't work
The mac address for 5ghz band does not exist

Happened at just three days of usage.

Going to either return it through lazada or arrange a replacement.

What's the update on you guys?

Thanks for the input

Mines the same with ts China model, but bought through lazada.

Hw: r1.5 , made in 2018.

I guess they do make lemons regardless of local or not, because it's essentially the same thing apart from the power adapter. The thing is the 5ghz died when not on load, at that time was almost idle but there were 4 stuff connected to it.

And then the ui was also a bit off because I can't access the wireless segment to change any settings until I restore factory settings.

Tried fans but I guess it's at the point of no recovery

I bought from Gearbest in November last year. So far no problem. But most of time i am using dual band i.e both 2.4 and 5 ghz during weekends since weekdays there are no many people using internet at home.

The router is also on auto reboot on Mondays and Fridays and both 2.4 and 5 ghz will be on from friday evening to sunday midnights. Other than that only 2.4 will be active. Not too sure whether i can save some electricity or not.. ha ha

don't use auto, sometime it will select some busy channel and the connection may become not stable.

use wifi analyzer to scan and select the less congested channel.

btw, how much u bought yours including shipping from tb?

Best not to use auto, the device is not good at making selection between 2.4 and 5GHz... If you are in bedroom far away from router... better set to 2.4 and when you move close, set to 5 again... biggrin.gif

I just unboxed mine yesterday night and running until now. I notice the unit is not really hot when touching it. Just slightly warm. Do you think it's due to heat problem?

Mine is v1.5 2018 build. I realise when i upgraded to the latest firmware, 5GHz band is gone. I checked further and realise the SSID name of 2G and 5G is the same, that's why i couldn't detect it. I thought 5G was dead doh.gif

Mine wasn't under any load when the 5ghz suddenly died. It was slightly warm but not hot.

I separate the 2.4 and 5 because sometimes it gets annoying when it loses connection to connect to the other one

Anyway the seller will replace the router, let's see what happens then
