I just got back from Lerun Warehouse sales.
Managed to catch one Tern P24 for RM300.
I am still in the state of shock as i type.
They claimed got defect but i cannot see any.
Even for parts it is worth it.
2 Schwalbe Marathon Tyres New

hi all, i have a Raleigh Ugo with 20 inch wheels n Shimano 7 rear Derailleur (no front Derailleur, front is 52T Alloy Crank). initially i was always using 4th to 5th gears for my normal flat road cycling. Thank god , after few months i have build some muscles and im always using the 7th gear now.
Problem is, i cant seem to go any faster now with my gears. i was thinking to modify my front to have a 3 gear Derailleur. or change the front crank to a bigger size. any advice?
*
If u want speed, sell ur Ugo and buy a road bike...habis cerita. On foldie u can get 30kmh top for ave. speed. Otai can maintain 40kmh but i think for a limited time only.

However, if you r a small wheel junkie, i believe it is time for you to get a new foldie. For me, Ugo is for rookie only. Try hunt for mid level Java or Trinx. Its' not bad. If u have big pocket, go for tyrell/dahon vector/tern verge/ ori bike/ etc etc.

It will save ur time from hunting for items listed by our fellow friends above. Frankly, It is all up to u and ur spending ability. If u think u r serious into cycling, dont be afraid to invest.

Here in lyn forum, they always give u the most economical ways to upgrade ur bike. But if u meant business, pls go and buy new foldie. Normally speed demon riding a Tyrell.

Sunday, Jan 28, Kapar, Klang. I will never forget this day as I decided to break my comfort zone and embarked in 200 kilometres cycling event. The renowned Brevets De Randonneurs Mondiaux event.

BRM 200 - The Pink Ride: the route was 90 per cent flat but the scorching sun was unbearable, especially on the last 20 kilometres where there are no shades to cover your ride.

Cruising with my trusted Tern Verge X20, me and my trusted buddies form a group of peloton mostly comprises of folding bicycle (two 16” brompton).
The strong and senior Audax riders will pull the rookies and give support.

It was a memorable 200km of journey as this is a fully self-supported event. No water station, no support car, no sweeper, and no escort all the way to the finishing line. You need a ball of steel to join this.

There were a bunch of roadies bonked by the roadside and me is no excuse. I lost my peloton on the final 20km (due to certain circumstances), with the heat and fatigue, my mental broke down but there is no tuning back.

What am trying to say is no matter what bicycle you rode, the kind of state of the art modding, or gearing ratio…if there is a will, there is a way. No excuse.

“Overslept, no medic, no water station, no Marshall, no road sign.” that is pussy.

I would like to clarify that I advocate a dirt cheap FIRST bike. After that buy anything that you want with the knowledge and experience from the dirt cheap bicycle-like-object.
*
maybe you can advocate your 'cheapskate' method of saving money for bicycle somewhere else. people came here to get advise for their first folding bike, not first own-made bicycle. Not all people have a special set of skills to weld steels like you, thus advising them to buy a TIG is completely unnecessary (here at least).

P/s: If you are serious about frame making, why dont you help newbie here making their own 'custome-made' frame set. Heck! I will swap my Verge x20 if you can replicate Pinarello Dogma F10 frameset with zero defects.

Exactly! My 1st bike advice is get a cheapskate bike. Nothing more nothing less.
Bike building is another very expensive hobby, sure you want to start?

If you know it is an expensive hobby, why did U tell em' to build their own? trying to act show off? whistling.gif

Thanks again. I will hold on the drivetrain upgrades for now and focus more on the little things that matter. Better pedals (current plastic foldable ones are slippery and they look like they're about to break anytime), more comfy saddles, stronger brake levers etc etc.
*
7speeds to 8speeds wasting money only. U will tempt to upgrade sooner or later for better drivetrain. Better go for 10s or 9s straight. Change chainring to 55t vs 11t-32t for ur cassette. Can tackle any terrain with this. (G. Perez sapsapaui). If want more speed go for 10s.

Add another chainring for better climbing. Mostly people use 39t for climbing. But with 32t at the back i doubt u need the second chainring.

Jelly bro. Your wheelset. biggrin.gif

I saw 3 foldies, including mine. The other two are terns.

Actually, the elevation is quite doable. I think we smaller wheels climbs lighter, but not necessarily faster, than our rb counterparts. In fact, i enjoy it most at Kuala Klawang climb. What really is terrible is the blazing sun. It was 40°c!! Really sucks the whole lot of my energy. Most of the riders that i saw were only doing around 20-23kmh during that period. I was using the smaller chainring, on the FLAT, just to keep moving.

Glad i could finish it. But i think if i ever decided to join any audax again, I'll get me an rb first. Felt like i spent too much time on the road. 13 freaking hours!

Btw, The elevation on my bryton 530 stated around 1.4k saja.but i cant upload my ride after the recent app update. Anyone using bryton encounter this problem recently?

hahaha..200km still can see foldies..400km i only knew 1 person oni who done that with blue tyrell. crazy dude. Yeap I agree. bukit tangga is one hell of a climb. I love doing the Broga Pondan loop. start from Hulu Langat batu 18 - Perez - Kongkoi - Titi - K. Klawang - Lenggeng - Broga - Semenyih - Batu 18. damn syiok.

Finally complete my upgrading project on my Verge. Was thinking to do roadbike project at first, before changing my mind to mod this beast as I had 451 wheelset hanging around for 2 years. Regret later 😂

P/s: looking for 451 tube with 60mm nipple. Where can i get it in Klang valley.
