Huge bump and update!!!

As promised, now with the Spring Update 2007, we now have 3 pre-determined black level setups for us to play with.

"Standard" appears to be the default setting we've been using.

"Intermediate" doesn't seem to have a huge difference.

"Expanded" is EXACTLY what I've been wanting and looking for. Natural deep black levels and VERY VERY VIVID colours.

Finally, the age long woe for LCD monitor users is now put to rest.




Those of you who are able to, please post some personal screenshot comparisons of your own as well as your personal opinion and experiences.

Iam on expanded reference level. Damn the picture quality is triple.

Microsoft has sorta fixed the VGA problem, I'm using the Expanded settings and it works well with my Philips 19' CRT monitor, the colours come alive and black levels are impressive. Besides this, even the compatibility list has been updated as well, I can play DOA 2 Ultimate on my XBOX 360 in widescreen in 720p. Yay.

today i think gonna try few more games on expanded...
yesterday i only try on crackdown.......it seems on crackdown the expanded makes the picture look too pastel...

...so, anyone experience any sort of problem with playing content downloaded from US Live market?
I have no problem downloading pacman tv show and play it.

For those interested, IMO, the "Intermediate" setting is pointless.

There are two and ONLY two standards of IRE black levels: 7.5 (Standard) and 0 (Expanded).

Intermediate is sorta like '3.75' IRE level which is sorta like a custom unnatural setting and imo, pointless.

Yeah, I am using the Dell 2407 R03, Expanded really makes the black and colors look alive now!

This is prolly the MAIN feature that makes my day for the Spring Update.

Yeap, no more tweaking the 'secret' menu in my 2407 A04 to get natural blacks and colours.

I'm so glad to be able to restore all the default values within the secret menu. I really hated to use it because any wrong values can permanently skew the monitor's colour and brightness.

Now all i need to do is to reduce brightness to 43 and I'm able to achieve PURE black.
Previously you had to down it all the way to 23-25.

As long as they allow game downloads...im perfectly happy

My CSI's and South Park still work...no problems so far

Not too worried about TV and Movie content.

The Expanded setting really gives you that Blacker than Black feeling on LCDs

EDIT: The setting really impacts VGA output of the 360 to LCDs. On component even on my LCD TV I've always been happy with the blacks.

Btw, South Park Good Times With Weapons is no longer free right?

Technically won't affect modded consoles but dunno whether can play online or not aje because from what I know, MS can do checks whether your disc is original or not at random via XBOX Live so that's your luck, if kena caught, you'll be kicked out from XBOX Live. If you're into online games, it's best to get ori games to be on the safe side.
