I've updated my console last night using this method. Just extract the zip file and burn the whole "$SystemUpdate" folder into a CD/DVD.

When I first inserted the disc, the update won't run. I thought something was wrong with the disc. I burned another copy and same thing happened. Then only I realized that I need to insert the update disc inside the console, turn off the console, and then turn on the console with the disc inside the tray.

The update process is very fast, it's completed in less than 10 seconds.

I was already at the dashboard when I inserted the Update Disc. I thought it'll boot straight away like a game's disc and start updating. tongue.gif

Great tip mzaidi. That's the same method I used to get the Fall Update on my console.

I ran into an interesting issue though - the disc refused to read until I burnt the files on UDF.

To really make full use of the new expanded reference level you need to calibrate your display.
