TLDR:
-Strikers targets: Jamie Vardy, Andrea Belotti, Christian Benteke, Fernando Llorente
-Midfielders targets: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Renato Sanches, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater, Antonio Candreva
-Defenders targets: Virgil van Dijk, Toby Alderweireld, Cedric Soares.
-27 years old Everton star Idrissa Gueye, alternative to Drinkwater if our bid fails with Drinkwater. Leicester values Drinkwater at £40m.
-Tottenham and Chelsea fight for Ross Barkley as Everton lower £50m valuation. Spurs are confident of striking a £25m deal for the England international. Cheap homegrown player, gogo! flex.gif

Chelsea look set to be among the busiest Premier League clubs as the transfer window enters its final week.
By Simon Rice for Metro.co.uk
Wednesday 23 Aug 2017 1:38 pm

Blues manager Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire for new arrivals in order to bolster his squad. ‘The club is trying its best in the transfer market to improve our squad but I must be happy,’ he said at the weekend.

Alexis Sanchez set to play for Arsenal at least one more time, announces Arsene Wenger
With many players having been allowed to leave, they look short.

So what might happen between now and the close of the transfer window on August 31? Here, we take a look at those linked with the club and the chances of them moving to Stamford Bridge before next Thursday.

Striker
Jamie Vardy
The Leicester striker has emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea with Conte desperate for more options up front. Right now the Italian tactician has just Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi to pick from in the central role. When Arsenal came calling last summer Vardy stayed loyal to the Foxes, but could he refuse another chance to join one of the Premier League’s elite sides?
Likelihood of a deal: 2 out of 5

Andrea Belotti
The young Italian has been ripping up Serie A with Torino, making links with a move away inevitable. He scored 26 goals in 35 league games last season – a fine return for a 23-year-old. He has a £91million release clause which makes him a viable option if Chelsea are desperate enough.
Likelihood of a deal: 2 out of 5

Christian Benteke
If Chelsea really want a target man, then Benteke is an excellent choice. But the goal return and overall contribution of the Crystal Palace striker doesn’t appear to be of the level required for a Champions League team, making this look like a last resort.
Likelihood of a deal: 1 out of 5

Fernando Llorente
Chelsea have been linked with the Swansea striker for some time, with Conte a fan having worked with the Spaniard at Juventus. He had a productive season last term, scoring 15 Premier League goals despite his 32-years-of-age. Swansea manager Paul Clement has insisted he won’t be sold and that’s a position that is likely to have become even more entrenched following the recent departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Likelihood of a deal: 2 out of 5

MIDFIELDERS
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
With a year remaining on his contract at Arsenal and reports that he is frustrated with his utility role, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with an exit from the Emirates. Chelsea is an obvious destination and the Gunners may be unable to resist a sensible offer. Liverpool and Man City are also keen.
Likelihood of a deal: 3 out of 5

Renato Sanches
Earlier in the summer Bayern Munch indicated Sanches could leave the club on loan. Talk has since calmed but a deal still looks possible for the 20-year-old, who failed to make an impact in Germany following a big-money move last summer.
Likelihood of a deal: 2 out of 5

Ross Barkley
The Everton midfielder looks certain to leave Goodison Park this summer – it’s just a question of where he goes. He’s got less than a year on his contract, has no intention of agreeing a new deal and the Toffees want to see a fee. Chelsea and Tottenham are the clubs most consistently linked with the England international.
Likelihood of a deal: 4 out of 5

Danny Drinkwater
Conte is said to be a big fan of the Leicester midfielder and talks are understood to have been held between the clubs over his transfer. A £30million switch looks to be on the cards.
Likelihood of a deal: 5 out of 5

Antonio Candreva
Another midfield options on Chelsea’s radar is Candreva, a player Conte worked with during his time as Italy manager. Inter Milan are reportedly open to selling the 30-year-old, who tends to operate on the right, for around £30m.
Likelihood of a deal: 4 out of 5

DEFENCE
Virgil van Dijk
The loss of John Terry is huge but the signing of Van Dijk would go some way to replacing the centre-back. The Southampton player is desperate to leave St Mary’s, so much so he stopped training with the squad in pre-season. His club are entirely unhappy about sanctioning his departure and thus willing to hold out for a seriously large fee.
Likelihood of a deal: 3 out of 5

Toby Alderweireld
An alternative option is Alderweireld, a deal which would send shockwaves through football in London. The Tottenham defender is said to be unhappy with his wages at White Hart Lane and is considering pushing for a move. With Spurs on the verge of completing a deal for defender Davinson Sanchez, they could be prepared to let Alderweireld depart.
Likelihood of a deal: 1 out of 5

Cedric Soares
Back-up to Moses? (Getty)
Conte wants competition for Victor Moses at right-back – and another option as he balances Champions League football with the Premier League. Southampton’s Soares has been identified as a suitable addition with talk of a £15m switch. With the player pictured in London this week, speculation has gone into overdrive.
Likelihood of a deal: 4 out of 5

Chelsea eye move for Everton star Idrissa Gueye as Danny Drinkwater alternative
GOSSIP
Louis Sealey for Metro.co.ukTuesday 22 Aug 2017 3:12 pm

Antonio Conte is interested in signing Everton star Idrissa Gueye if Chelsea fail to complete a deal for England international Danny Drinkwater.
The Italian boss has been left underwhelmed by Chelsea’s summer transfer activity despite £140million being spent on Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger.

Conte admitted after Sunday’s victory over Tottenham that the club were ‘trying their best’ to secure further signings before the window closes on August 31.
Danny Drinkwater, who helped Leicester City win the title two years ago, is a top target and Chelsea have already seen a £25million rejected by the Foxes.

Leicester are playing hardball and value Danny Drinkwater at £40m.

Senegal star Gueye is seen as an alternative to Drinkwater

Leicester are in a strong negotiating position and their £40m valuation is proving to be a major obstacle as the Premier League champions were hoping to agree a deal closer to £30m.

According to the Daily Mail, Conte is now searching the market for alternative midfield targets and is an admirer of Senegal international Gueye.

The 27-year-old, who joined Everton from Aston Villa last year, was linked with Arsenal earlier in the summer but the Toffees will be reluctant to sell.

It is claimed Conte registered an interest in the defensive midfielder many months ago but Chelsea believed an approach would be futile as they were also in contact with Everton over a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

Conte’s search for a midfielder comes weeks after Chelsea agreed to sell Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United.
‘The club is trying its best in the transfer market to improve our squad but I must be happy,’ former Italy boss Conte said on Sunday.
‘We only have to think on the pitch and not to give answers to people.

Tottenham confident of signing Ross Barkley as Everton lower £50m valuation but face Chelsea competition
Metro Sport Reporter for Metro.co.ukTuesday 22 Aug 2017 2:54 pm

Tottenham are confident of signing Everton playmaker Ross Barkley for around £25million after the Toffees were forced into reducing their valuation of the midfielder.
Barkley’s deal at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season and Ronald Koeman has already revealed he’s set to leave the Merseyside club.

The Toffees spent big on Gylfi Sigurdsson and had valued Barkley at around £50m at the start of the summer.
However, there’s been a lack of concrete interest in the midfielder and Barkley’s hamstring injury means Everton could be left with an unhappy player who could sign a pre-contract to leave in January for free.

Tottenham have shown the firmest interest in Barkley throughout the summer and the Telegraph claim Spurs are confident of striking a £25m deal for the England international.
However, Chelsea remain keen on Barkley and his price reduction could prove significant for the Blues.
