Apparently Pochettino wants him as the long term replacement for Dembele which makes sense. Barkley's at his best when he is charging forward with the ball like a bull. Dembele's role is essentially a ball carrier that bridges the defence and offence. He is not the one who makes the final pass nor is he asked to ping a 40 yard cross field pass, his job is to carry the ball to transition from defence to offence. Does seem like a role that would suit Barkley best as he's been proven time and time again at Everton that he lacks the end product in the final third.

So...this make me wonder more what position he gonna play. Since his natural position is cm and we 343 dont need cm atm. Unless he gonna be dm that is different story. But if drinkwater and ross come in the same time then dm will be crowded

As flattered as I am as a Liverpool fan that players actually want to join us now, I don't understand Ox's logic at all. There's no way he is getting in ahead of Can, Hendo, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Coutinho and Keita next season at Liverpool in his preferred midfield position. Heck we still have Milner we signed and promised to play in midfield but was a winger in his first year, a left back in his second and now a backup central midfielder in his third. We don't play with wingbacks either so there's no place for him there. He will most likely be a backup winger to Salah and Mane if he joins us.

He doesn't want to play wingback for Arsenal and doesn't want to play wingback for Chelsea which looks most likely to be his position here. But I would argue that he has a better chance of breaking into this Chelsea midfield over Liverpool's simply because of the lack of depth. Correct me if I'm wrong, your main options in midfield are Kante, Bakayoko and Cesc yes?

weird wenger before this when walcott refuse to sign new contract he put him as striker because he wanted to play as striker..and once he signed the contract wenger put him back to be as winger..

There's no bid from Liverpool yet and there's no telling if Arsenal will even accept our bid because there is still bad blood from the Suarez 40,000,001 saga.

There's been contact from Liverpool with the player's side all summer but there was no concrete offer, not even an enquiry. I suppose if he really wants to move to Liverpool he could just play out his final year at Arsenal then move on a free.

Yeah and I think we all can agree that Lemar is better than Ox but Lemar is also much more expensive.

As for Coutinho, I could see us selling him for the reported 160m Euros if we can bring in Lemar. But we're supposedly still insisting that we're not selling him whatever the offer. That could be a ploy to not let any potential selling clubs for our Coutinho replacement jack up their price by too much. Regardless though, even if we don't sell Coutinho this summer, I could see PSG moving for him next year even if Barca might no longer be interested by then.

No one knows if the offer is still on the table but club mouthpieces are saying the club's stance has been the same since the beginning which is not selling.

But judging from how we're splashing the cash at the moment, 70m+ for Lemar and potentially 70m+ for Van Dijk, I'm inclined to think that the offer is on the table and kept under wraps until we can secure our replacements. If we can't then it's likely that he won't leave.

As much as I love Coutinho, there's no way he is worth that much money especially for a player whose head is gone. Barca's offer is frankly quite insane provided it doesn't include those retarded addons like Coutinho winning Balon d'Or and treble or both in the same season.

i think the Neymar brilliance and referee assistance in UCL trigger PSG. think the problem is already obvious since Henry and Vieira left. just that the red London fans are deluded to think that they are still competitive and able to win EPL.  Sanchez most likely to MC for free.
