QUOTE(kutitata @ Aug 12 2017, 01:38 PM)
hey guys...

my house is so called fiber ready, with fiber cables
1) outdoor - black from nearby common manhole to my house manhole
2) indoor - white from outside junction box to inside junction box

when TM came to install had a problem with outdoor cable and when they try to pull the underground conduit was blocked, they offered to run new cable for RM400 ohmy.gif
but the cable would be visible at some parts not concealed so I disagreed

since then my developer has dug up the conduit and found the blockage and cleared it, leaving it open so easy for TM to pull a new cable or splice as the current black outdoor cable seems too short. will they charge for this? would it be better for them to pull a new cable in the conduit. will they charge for this?

also internally I would like them to extend the white fiber modem about 2m meters, will they charge for this?

my developer also ran the telephone wiring to the same point but did not terminate the cables with phone jacks (2 nos.) so that I can plug both phone lines into the TM unifi modem. is this chargeable as well?

sorry for all the newb questions but i tried looking for it could not find any real answers...
*
Pull cable in the counduit should be normal installation aka free unless over the length.

Before this, they have small box to terminate the fiber inside the house. you can put this small box at current location and use another fiber from the box to modem.. I think supplied fiber to modem is more than 2m.

As for using internal phone jack it's will be chargeable. Dunno they interested to do it or not. it's quite simple you can DIY.

That why they use dedicated btu. So can use by multiple isp and of course can lower cable utilization. Give chance for others to enjoy the unifi also.

You can pull lan cable from btu to maxis router to downstairs.. But need to spend money la.

Dear all,

Past 2 week, i check my speed through speedtest, noted that TM has upgrade my line to 50Mbps. However, i experience slow speed this week, hence i run through speedtest this week, my speed has decrease significantly to only 20MBps.

Do anyone experience the same problem like me? Has TM reduce back my speed?

Restart router & btu.. Test with few server and see how.

hey guys.  wanna ask.  how long does tm come and install unifi at house once submit application?

i apply through online agent. and the agent came to my house to get IC thumbprint authentication.

another question is that  the unifi box is directly outside my house.  next to my gate.  when i when to TMpoint and check for unifi availability .  they cant find my house number inside their unifi system.  is that normal?

normally need to apply unifi first  then they only update their system?
*
Have anybody using unifi that's area? They might missed ur house number or the Infra is not ready yet.

How can it be not activated yet?  the green box is just infront of my front gate.

my next door already got unifi.
*
If somebody used it, then it's activated.. Ask the TM to check ur neighbour number.. Like I said sometimes they miss to put the house number. Can ask for their technician for site visit also. My office case, they said port full. But I can clearly see there are new box at the same place that's a still available. Give the box number and their agreed to come and check.

What's I mean by not activated is, most of the time the green box just finish. It's take months to lay the cable and activate the point. My area last time, half of the taman get Unifi 3 month earliers than my half. Even the green box finish the same time.

*

Installation charges is properly documented. The fiber less 15m is free is not mistaken.

Currently my package has been upgraded from 30mb to 50mb. I'm currently using the black rounded router that has set 2 wifi line that is 2.4ghz and 5ghz. My problem is that sometimes it's hard to reach 40m+ when I'm connected to the normal wifi line that is the 2.4ghz one, but strangely it's very easy to reach 51mb on speed test if I'm using the 5ghz line but the thing is, this 5ghz line does not cover a large area and only near the router. Do I need to change the router? Because I don't think there is a problem with my internet line itself. Or is there any solution for the people that has already encounter this problem?
*
That's the limitation and advantages of 5Ghz.. Higher bw but limited range. 2.4 got higher range but not speed.

Like if the router upstair.. 2.4ghz, might able you to use 10-20mbps if you downstair. 5Ghz, might not even got a signal.

Better router can improved this 20-30%. Better get another router to cover low signal area.

I always tot we can login to different unifi account at diff place ?
*
You can login but the speed will be lowest either on account or port..

lets said you got 10 Mbps at house A and 50Mbps at house B.

If you use house A account at house B will you will get 10Mbps.

If you use house B account at house A will still get 10Mbps.

The only thing good to change the account if one of the account barred coz of billing.

Can i have TM block outgoing calls so no one makes calls on it accept to call 100 ?

new Unifi registration can get the promo price of rm139 right ? Am currenctly on 30mb package.

You know the bill will keep increasing monthly even you don't used it? Later they will blacklist you name and send you name to the collector agent which will hunt you.

1 BTU can have up to 4 account actually. But for VDSL still limited to 30Mbps.. My ex-office used to have 1 maxis + 1 unifi connected to same VDSL modem. 8 + 10 Mbps..

He was asking about having 2 UniFi account in 1 BTU, TM doesn't allow that
Yes you can have up to 4 account but with a mix of several ISPs but not 2 accounts from TM itself
When you did the test, did you test using Wireless or LAN cable?
*
Why not? I think I read here got 1 person the installer install 2nd unifi but use same BTU.. He want to request another BTU to put different level.. I don't see any limitation why TM not allow same BTU, if they allow multiple unifi line.. BTW, I think it's mostly depend on Installer.. I once see installer using 2nd port BTU for additional voip access (3rd line), connected to dlink voip ata. Before this the ATA connected at the router.. The client reported problem using 3rd line, then installer come and configure 2nd BTU port as voip vlan bypassing the router.

I got my new 30mb unifi today. They gave me a tplink AC1200.

My setup is 3 connection points from a router at my study room downstair to living room and master room upstair, connected through power line adapter.

Before unifi, i use streamyx for internet and iptv, they worked well where i connected any on the lan port to my study room powerline.

But today with new streamyx, when connected using port4 (vlan IPTV) to powerline adpater, iptv worked but the internet. If I connected other ports to the power line, internet worked but IPTV not working. I was looking at ac1200 functions and i couldnt find any vlan bridging.

One way to solve this is to use a switch but I reckon it is redundant and waste of electricity. Supposedly the router could be configured to achieve this. Perhaps I just noob, out of idea how to solve it.

Anyone could shed any light?

Thank in advance.
*
Easier solutions get another pair of powerline for IPTV. You can use single powerline but needs another switch to handle vlan on all location.

Hi everyone,

I have some questions to ask about ethernet switch. I subscribed TM Unifi 50mbps plan, using D-Link wireless N router DIR-615.

Originally the router has 4 LAN ports, 1 meant for Hyyp TV. Hence, the other 3 ports are for computers and laptops.

If I use an ethernet switch connect to 1 of the 3 ports, will it works for other computers/laptops which connect to that ethernet switch?

yes

Can you further elaborate this?

Can I do this?

TM ONU ---> AC1200 ---> Gigabit switch (connected with IPTV and Internet) ---> Powerline A ---> Powerline B (in another room) ---> Gigabit switch (Connected with smart tv, STB, bluray player etc)

Thanks.
*
as soonwai post above.. Basically same with what you want to do. But Gigabit switch must support vlan.. TPlink got cheap one, around RM120. Smart switch something the name.. But need to configure vlan.. not just connect.

My other suggestion would be using different pair of powerline for each network.. 1 pair for iptv.. another pair or 3-4 unit for internet.

50Mpbs. Kodi.. lagging, hanging. all sorts. I am sure Unifi throttle the speed.

Kodi is not the way to assess the line. It's use torrent/file hosting to stream. Cannot know where and how the file is access.

Try legal means of streaming. Netflix, Iflix or even YouTube..
