Actual bill not yet out and customer service unable to answer me.

but i want run one lan cable to my tv console and use a switch to give internet to smart tv, astro PVR , Hypptv and PS4.

the problem is i cant get hypptv to work with normal internet port from router. it has to be port 4 using vlan 600.

now on unifi. it wont work on vlan500.

My router is Asus RT-N66U

You need to do some vlan trunking on that lan cable of yours. Like this:

That red line is the vlan trunk.

thanks.

but do i need special equipment to do it?

just a normal lan cable and a normal ethernet switch right?

any guide to share on how to set it up?

True but you'll probably need one. Or just use HyppTV Everywhere. That'll work with your existing router and switch.
Just slightly special, routers and switches that can do vlans.

The guides would depend on the brand of router or switch that you use since it's done differently by different manufacturers. For Mikrotik, for example, you can look at their wiki: wiki.mikrotik.com

why do i need new router?

i already using Asus N66U with my unifi connection.

any link can share on the set up process regardless on what router?

My home router is Asus RT-N12HP.

The computer in my room can hit speed at about 30mbps average on wifi speedtest. However, if I use LAN it reaches full 50mbps (Unifi subscribed speed).

I hesitate to subscribe to 100mbps, because I don't think any of my family members will benefit from it due to wireless N 300mbps limitation (connected to more than 10 devices at one time  hmm.gif  hmm.gif ) , unless I upgrade to higher end router.
*
check your wifi connect to your pc the speed is how much?

if its less than 50mbps. obviously you wont get full speed.

unless you invest in high performance router such as Asus AC68U

If I use Iphone, it will be about 50mbps if I am close to the router. But behind 1 or 2 walls, it will hit about 30-40mbps.
*
obvisouly behind walls.. your wifi connection will reduced to less than 50mbps.

this is your existing router limitation.

getting a higher performance may improve your wifi signal strength and speed through walls.

its not unifi problem. its whether you want to achieve your goal on whether you want your device to get full speed or not.

No UniFi package is without HyppTV.
*
correct. they forced us to have hypptv whether you like it or not. its included in the pricing.

if its separately priced. then we all user all want to unsubscribe the hypptv. since most of us dont use hypptv.

Most of you running speed test using phones right?
Need to bear in mind that not all phones can reach speed higher than 30 Mbps.
The limitation is the phone memory system some times.
I'm using note 3, only max out ~35.
iPad hitting 50 no problem
*
note 3 is a very very old phone. the hardware limitation

Friend, you shouldn't keep the modem in closed ambient. You will shorten its lifespan. tongue.gif

correct. i didnt put in the back panel for that particular compartment due to need to run wiring to there and to allow air flow into that area.

gonna add a cooler pad to the BTU and router on top. just havent had time to go and get it.
