It's difficult because my dad/family can't live without sports channel on Astro. laugh.gif
My mum loves AEC. sweat.gif
*
Aec is easy to get free with many apps.

e.g. Cloudtv free channels incl astro awani, kah lai toi, aec, asia news network, afc.... in hd, very reliable.

Live sports, esp EPL in hd is the tough one.

QUOTE(MGM @ Dec 20 2017, 03:52 PM)
I used to think so but Jumbo+Ruby surprise me n I think it can be a Astro replacement if one is not fussy.
*
Astro is surviving on a couple of canto channels and live epl in urban areas.

They will not allow anyone incl hypptv to carry any of that.

I like natgeo people, travel channel and bbc lifestyle.

Paramount n tvn movies are fine too.

For my case, I had no issue getting full speed of 50Mbps all the time but once changed to 100Mbps, it was so difficult to even reach 70Mbps.  bangwall.gif Both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, fortunately after rounds of tweaking around, now managed to get 100Mbps.

On 50Mbps, nothing was required.
*
Maybe i missed... but for the sake of everyone, can u do a summary? biggrin.gif

.. What did u do to get full 100mbps?

.. hoùse or highrise?

.. small, average or big area?

.. 2.4 or 5 ghz or both?

.. ethernet or wifi or both?

.. change router, modem, cables, etc...?

.. how do u get rid of the interference of your other devices n gadgets as said many times to the main culprit?

Err.. Goodness la you.

I tweaked the Tx Power Adjustment from 100% to 50%.

House. 2 1/2 Floor. Not sure big or small, around 4000sqft?

Both, 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Tested on my sister's phone and laptop. iPad still 70Mbps regardless how we tried. So we gave up and my sister said can live with that speed on her iPad. I will go back tonight to test my devices.

Both, WiFi and Ethernet.

Nothing was changed. Still used back the previous Huawei WS-880.

Changed channel to 11. 5GHz, I forgot what was the settings. Anyway, channel to me is not important, once we tweaked Tx Power Adjustment, everything works as intended.
*
Tq, i will remember that... tx power 50%.

2.5s is a big house... many walls, many things...

So, interference not such a big deal?

U said can get full n now u say ipad not getting full.

So, full or not.... ? im confused...

Most of the devices can get 100Mbps, only this iPad cannot get. I can ignore it. tongue.gif
I will try with my own iPad tonight which is the same model as hers.
*
Alright, thats gud 2 know.

Your story in a nutshell, if i hv read correctly...

.. 2.5s hse, 4000 sqft.... big.
.. 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
.. wifi or ethernet.
.. tm supplied router, no change.
.. can get full 100mbps except one ipad.
.. by changing tx power from 100% to 50%.

Is that about right?

I will be trying my case next week, see what happens.

Really, with so many struggling to get full speed, so many reasons given why cannot, solutions will be welcome.

Perhaps, someone with good experience can start a new thread...

"How to get full 100mbps ethernet or wifi, 2.4ghz or 5ghz - various scenarios".

If not, all the impt tips get drowned ih this 300 page thread, people keep asking the same questions!! biggrin.gif

eh...I tot it was the other way around, by increasing TX Power from 100% to higher than 100% ?
*
fruitie had that experience... it works opposite in yr case?

what is the real explanation...??

same goes to...

... disable ipv6, disable that...
... change to another router...
... use homeplug
... use cat6
...
...

conflicting experiences, views and opinions... from so many here.

the more i read, i more i am not sure what will and what will not help.

guess it is some kind of fringe science..! tongue.gif

well, will be experimenting soon.

this is good!

is this with 2.4 or 5ghz?

2-3 walls... wifi... total distance... 40, 50, 60 ft?

what results u get if u use cat5 ethernet.

am hoping someone using asus ac1300uhp can show results too, thanks.

Running latest Aus firmware for C1200 V1. It all really depends on your own network and surroundings. Take mine for instance, Using the TM supplied C1200 in a condo with multiple other SSIDs and other interference (Testing done on computer, same room.. router about 5 feet away) .. Most say it's a crap router.. True, but it handles my needs well. So well, that unlike with the previous D-Link router, I no longer seriously consider getting a third-party router. Some say disable NAT and or NAT Boost. I tried disabling both and rebooted, everything looks good but none of the browsers can connect to the internet. Tested on PC and mobiles.. Couldn't. I then re-enabled NAT alone. Didn't need to reboot, suddenly can connect to the internet but lost my ipv6. Will leave as is (NAT Boost disabled & transmit power changed from High to medium), to see if by tomorrow's end, all will be okay or I'll have to revert to settings that were confirmed working.

So yeah, really depends on one's network environment.
*
am only interested in about getting full speed...

it occurs to me that 30 and 50mbps pose far less issues.

i for one has no problems at all with 50.

100mbps seems to be problematic for many - router, interference, cables, 2.4/5, wifi/ethernet, etc.

hence been posing questions to those now experiencing it.

i will see for myself soon - whether the router is the main variable or there are more things to deal with to get it!

Unstable with 2.4Ghz, but this speed range. 5Ghz signal loss is about -52dbm while 2.4Ghz -66 to -70-80dbm cause unstable. Using TM provided TP-LINK C5.

Will keep that in mind.

sgpdsmss using asus ac68u... can't get full 100mbps... 2.4 or 5ghz.

fruitie using huawei ws880... can get full...2.4 or 5 ghz.. only 2x ipads not full speed.

silent forever using tp c5... can get full with 5ghz but not 2.4.

tm supplied tp ac1200 - said to crap over n over again.

am sure they all tried various tips, tweaks as suggested by others.

anything we infer from these 3 cases?? hmm.gif

I thought link speed changes based on WiFi strength?
Currently in my room at 114Mbps for 2.4 and 130Mbps for 5. Stood near to router 866Mbps for 5 and 144Mbps for 2.4.
*
866 mbps?

Thats close to 1gbps... very handy for some purpose if it is sustainable! biggrin.gif

Nothing. Wifi speed depends on many factors such as interference and congestion, and other factors as well.
*
that, everyone knows la...

the big question is what solution(s), not just why "cannot"!

there is interference everywhere, every house, impossible to get rid of everything else so that one device works perfectly.

will be more useful if u can share what u have, what results, what u hv done, how to deal with this interference, tq.

QUOTE(biloxee @ Dec 24 2017, 06:09 PM)
You need to consider how many antennas your device has and/or if it supports MIMO.

Router cannot help if your device cannot support the speeds the router is capable of.
*
that, people also know to an extent la...

old devices likely not so good, new ones should work fine... but somehow they dun.

i am quite sure the people here struggling to get full 100mbps know this aspect, know how to test old and new devices.

really... it seems to such a hard job to get full 100mbps to work.

it will be hell if one tries to go 500 or 1000mbps then! laugh.gif

Yah I upgrade to 100mbps from the old 5mbps plan. Have filed complaint to TM via Unifi website, waiting for the reply. If no reply will file to MCMC too then.
*
you went 5->100 direct?

the lower price 179/189 are typically offered to some (not all!) that went 10->30->50 (free)->100.

so it means that for existing customers who paid higher price for higher plan, even with complaint the deal is still poorer than rm10 upgrade, either no STD20 or the price is only valid for 2 years etc.

conclusion is still always to keep at the lowest possible plan and wait for upgrade offer from TM later.
*
looks like it.

somehow, TM unifi does not want a full transparent n fair pricing policy, wants to milk customers whenever they have a chance.

i am curious if there is ONE other co. in this country that does biz that way.

and i am also curious why no consumer assoc has ever made noise about it.

Just got my 100mbps today.

Yes... similar result like yours.

Tm supplied tplink 1200.

Ethernet, no sweat... 105mbps.

Wifi 5ghz... 95 at 10ft, 85 at 30ft, 75 at 50ft.

Wifi 2.4ghz... crap...25 to 50 only.

My old asus rtn12hp can do better on wifi 2.4ghz, but only 95 with ethernet.

Will consider new router...

Anyone using asus ac1300uhp... good enough for wifi 2.4ghz?

I got a few old devices that can only run on this freq, wifi.
