ANyone can recomm a wireless router. was using nt12hp, just upgrade to 100mbps. unifi roter sucks big time. tried other firmwares as well. buudget rm400-500.
*
Which router did TM give you? Both the C1200 and DIR-850L are quite good as APs. Maybe what you can do is buy a good router such as a Mikrotik RB750Gr3 for about RM260 then use the existing Asus and TM's as APs. If your have network points around the house, you can place them strategically to cover the entire house.

Guys/gals on UniFi Pro 100Mbps package, what BTU (not the router) are you using?

Huawei which model?
*
Mine is the HG8240H. TM changed it to this in November when my old HG850a stopped working. Then during the RM10 100mbps upgrade a week later they changed it again to another of the same model.

UniFi 100mbps on 2.4GHz wifi.

In summary, for 2.4GHz to go 100mbps or higher, you'll need:
1. Good signal strength
2. Low interference
3. If single chain (1x1), 40MHz channel width.
4. If 20MHz channel width, dual chain (2x2)
*3 & 4 on both your devices and your wifi router.

Router: Mikrotik RB750Gr3
AP: Mikrotik hAP AC Lite

Can't get my iPhone 6s to go any higher than 92mbps.

Radio environment.

Notes:
hAP AC Lite is 100mbps ethernet ports only. In order to go above 100mbps, I bonded 2 ports to my RB750Gr3.

What software is this?
*
That's winbox.exe, Mikrotik routers' configuration software. Much faster than using the web config and, best of all, non-modal.

Wow, I'm surprised device that are so affordable comes with link aggregation.
*
Yeah, all Mikrotik routers have the same features except where limited by the hardware. Even the cheapo RM130 hAP Lite has link aggregation. And 7 different modes of aggregation/bonding.

I've no idea what's going on with my Unifi bill.

My RYE100 upgrade was on 27 Nov. The next day, 28 Nov, was my usual billing cycle and I was bill RM256.35. This was missing the Special RM50 discount. My 28 Nov bill is here. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=87403230 So I reported that and was promptly rebated RM63.60 as illustrated below. All good.
user posted image

Then came 28 Dec and I'm expecting RM189+6% for this bill. Instead I'm billed only RM159.70. Not that I'm complaining but I can't make heads or tails of this bill.
user posted image

At least the correct discount of RM200 is there in the bill.

While my installation was on 27 Nov, it was only completed, due to some technicalities, on 4 Dec so maybe it's got something to do with those 8 days.

What everybody think if we had unifi telegram group chat?

If really ok admin can proceed create the group chat.
*
Forgive me for being blunt but I don't see the point though. It's hard to search for stuff in Telegram or WhatsApp. The forums are indexed by Google which makes it easily searchable. So I'm quite happy with just the forum. Also the noise, I'm in a few Lazada groups and the signal-to-noise ratio is just too low.

How did you find that out? Mine is billed every month on the same day, so every 30 or 31 days except Feb.

QUOTE(AHGS14 @ Jan 4 2018, 11:23 AM)
My recent home Unifi installation came with  an Alcatel fibre modem installed in my store room.  During my home renovation, I have wired 2 cat5e connections to the the living hall downstairs and the family hall upstairs.  Currently, I have a TP-Link router installed in the downstairs living hall, connected to the modem via the cat5e cable I put in during renovation to provide Wifi coverage to the whole house.  Is it possible to connect another Wifi router in my upstairs family hall to the modem to provide better Wifi coverage upstairs?

Tips on how to accomplish this is much appreciated.  Thank you.
*
I'm afraid not. You can't connect an AP (eg: a wifi router configured as an AP) to the modem. Additional APs need to be connected to the router. If you move your TPLink router to the store room then you can use the 2 network points for additional APs, switches, etc... Are you using HyppTV? If you are then you'll need to allocate one cable to it.

Thanks for the tip.  I happen to have a spare router (left over from terminating my Sg internet contract).  I take it that if I just plug it into the 2nd modem port without further configuration work, this will not work?  Relocating the TP-Link router as an option sounds good.  If no other better option, I may just give it a try and hope that the coverage downstairs is not impacted too greatly.

Once again, thank you very much.
*
That's right. You can't use LAN2 on the modem or LAN3 and LAN4 for that matter. Typically the only active port on the modem is LAN1 and the main wifi router must be connected here.

Thanks very much for this clear reply.  You came across as a networking expert.  If I may just tap your brain for 1 more advice:  how do I configure the router after connecting my CCTV DVR recorder to it to enable viewing from Internet devices, e,g, smart phone?
*
I’m hardly the expert but thanks for thinking so. smile.gif

For CCTV, you’ll need:
1. Public ip: for your house’s network to be aceessible from the Internet. Unifi not a problem
2. Dynamic DNS: UniFi’s IP changes periodically. Dynamic dns keeps track of this. Most routers can do this.
3. Port forwarding of whatever necessary ports from the router to the DVR.

That’s the most common way but exposes your DVR to the Internet. Another popular way is to setup a VPN server in your house then access the DVR using the VPN.

Thanks very much, John & chocobo for the alert.  Not sure if I understand enough about the DDNS.  Will cross the bridge when time comes and seek to learn more from the experts in this forum who have selflessly helped novices like me.

By any chance, is your spare router a DLink?

my unifi plan 50mbps, but only getting 22mbps max on lan, i thought it was old router problem, but today i changed a new router, it's still best getting 27mbps, whta's the problem? (called tm and they reset port, still same)

what the router requirment to get 40+ mbps speed on LAN?
*
What router? It can't be that bad. Even my old DIR-615 from VIP5 days can handle 100mbps, almost.

Need you folks to help me understand this latest bill (19th Dec).

I was previously paying RM179 (excluding GST) under Thank You Surprise for 50M.
I upgraded to RYE 2017 100M on 28th Nov, for RM189 (excluding GST).

I need to pay RM199.33 (excluding GST) or RM211.29 (including GST) for this bill.
Not sure how the pro-rated figures work here?

Attached are the images for the bill.

fruitie jonuslee soonwai, any comments please?

Thanks!
*
I give up already trying to understand TM's bill. Though I'm not complaining cause I got charged less.

28 Oct 2017 RM189.75 (TQ50 RM179 same as yours)
27 Nov 2017 RYE100 Installation
28 Nov 2017 RM192.75 (1st bill After RYE100 RM189. Charged extra RM50 then rebated RM60 after complain)
28 Dec 2017 RM159.70 (2nd bill after RYE100 RM189)

See my Dec bill here. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry87552854

Now wait to see Jan bill to see whether it stabilises.

Can anyone please answer my question?

UniFi router or a better branded router is placed beside the TV. All computers and devices access the Internet via WiFi. Is this practical? Is it a common practice? Or is it more practical to connect at least one computer via Ethernet?
*
Check here, another Larry asked the same question.

In summary, yes, yes, yes to all 3 questions marks.
